Seagull……your right, this is easier to read and understand!
This should be the link
Mixed fortunes:
Bet Macedonia to beat Scotland at odds of 2.8 and managed to bet them on the level ball (Asian h`cap) at 2,0
The one i cried over:
Montenegro to beat Bulgaria at odds of 3.80, idiots went 2-1 up on 81 mins, the others received a red card, thought i was home and dry until in the 93rd minute the Bulgarians scored an equaliser, i actually came out even on the game as i also bet them on the Asian qtr ball at 2,4, the bet was half covered!!
If you are a lower staking customer try http://www.pinnaclesports.com , they are as reliable as you will ever get!!
lower staking? Are you referring to asian handicaps? I know for a fact that you can get seriously big bets on, american pro sports. As for Pinnacle imo the best low juice, no frills book out there. Not always Brendan, some bets are seriously limited, i`ve had an account with Pinnacle for many years and they won`t take what a true Asian h`cap Bookmaker will take, ie 15K without referal, however,if you read what i wrote i say they are good and reliable and would certainly fit in most punters criteria!!
Another worth a look at is 10bet.com, their limits are clearly defined and are very similiar to Pinnacle!!
Amazing, whilst this won`t affect most people im sure the average Betfair user thinks he`s going to be a winner on the long run and will see this as an amazing stab in the back,at first i thought it was some type of levy they where going to pass on,looks like the only pass on is to their shareholders.
To some extent Betfair has monopoly status when it comes to laying horses which can`t be a good thing, with regards to Sportsbetting they don`t really appeal to the professional as you can usually find better prices elsewhere….well at least i can!
Yes i can gaurantee they are very genuine!!
I must admit to rarely using Betfair for Sportsbetting as they lack liquidity and its almost impossible to get a decent bet covered, most half decent Asian h`cap Bookies will take a 10K bet in one hit and you can go back for more!!
Sportmarket are decent (Incidently Swedish operated!!) if you want to track the Asian market, they place bets on your behalf with differant Asian`h`cap bookies by obtaing the best prices possible and passing them onto the client for a skim!
Take a look for yourself

Don`t compare these with Betbrokers as the Asians are another kettle of fish, software moves the lines thus theirs a low potential for loss (Bookmakers side)………..only extreme line movements cause loss!!
Match day take outs on top leagues are usually 5 points (1.25%) ie 1,975 best of two, earlies run at 7 points (1.75%) ie 1,965 and other leagues are 8 points (2%) ie 1,96, the lowest Betfair commission is 2%!!

Pre race
KAMSIN was taking after his father “SAMUM“ by sweating freely,he was certainly the best looking horse in the race and he certainly as scope for more!
ADLERFLUG was calm and took the parade like it was an everyday thing.
TEMPELSTERN as his kinks and wanted to get on with it, he looked like he ran!!
OSTLAND More compact than KAMSIN,looks to have scope to develop further and wouldn`t be surprised to see him go better on good ground!
ITS GINO Big rangy type, very relaxed and certainly looks the part.
LUCARNO Looked a picture but you wouldn`t automatically think he was a group one horse!
In the race:
LUCARNO wasn`t taking any prisoners up front,he looked to be going well enough before hitting a wall in the straight where he stopped to nothing, i would be pretty sure the going didn`t suit him.
ADLERFLUG tracked LUCARNO but in my opinion he was always doing too much,at no stage of the race did i think he would win!
ITS GINO was travelling better than anything coming into the straight but his challenge pettered out,he might be worth a try over 10 furlongs
TEMPELSTERN looked to sulk when he couldn`t get the lead, he was beaten long!!
OSTLAND had every chance but wasn`t good enough, he looks more a group three horse at this stage!
CONCLUSION
First three look nice animals, on a differant day ADLERFLUG could have won but he looked a bit to fresh for his own good, the 5kg he had to give certainly told in the end, with that said,he never shirked the issue,ITS GINO either did shirk the issue or he doesn`t need 12F in that type of ground,at this stage i would give him the benefit of the doubt,KAMSIN as plenty of scope and it will be interesting to see if he fills his potential!!
KAMSIN was being niggled along before they got into the straight, in tiring ground i would say he stayed on best , he looks a real stayer who is progressing with racing!
I wouldn’t make any guarantees about laying you , or indeed anyone else. No-one in the world can get on what they want, when they want, with no restriction. Would you send me a copy of your tissue (priced up to the average bookmamker margin) and let me bet what I like at your prices without restriction?
That said, If you offer up the "straight go" bets that you describe then I am sure you will be accommodated for a reasonable amount.
Just out of curiosity and this as nothing to do with the above thread:-
What can be described as a reasonable amount? and what would be a reasonable amount on French racing (When offered)?
Would it be reasonable to ask for 1000 at a fixed price , could i have more or would it be substantially less?
Im just working out the viability of opening accounts as im getting a little irritated everytime i see my bets dumped into the pools, i can dump them into the pmu myself and get a 4% kick back, i was just wonering whether i could get covered for say 5K by UK Bookies without much reaction?
Thanks
Betfair wouldn`t need to move offshore, they have a Maltese licence, they are part of the EU and under current legislation that allows them to promote their product in the UK,therefore, little would change other than they would pay less tax than they do at present!!
Like it or not,the exchanges are here to stay and theirs little anyone can do about it!!
And wins by 2 1/2 lengths.. Really interesting contender for the Abbaye.
I`m in Baden Baden as i write , ive now had the pleasure of seeing OVERDOSE live on two occassions!!
The going today was described as 4.4 which is on the soft side of good, however, the sun was out all day and i would say the going by the 6th race was genuinely good!!
With regards to OVERDOSE, he must have a real engine as he`s got one of the scrappiest “actions“ you`re ever likely to see, with regards to the Abbaye i would be a “very big“ layer as he wouldn`t be able to burn off the cream of 5F sprinters on a very sharp track, this horse is a real grinder and im convinced he would be even better suited by 7F , the optimum target in my opinion would be the “Foret“ on arc day, he would simply do a “TOYLSOME“!!
With regards to yesterdays race, OVERDOSE was sweating profously like most of the field on a day when temps reached 34 degrees, in the race itself he slightly missed the break but was soon back on an even keel and bowling along in his customary role , STARLIT SANDS was held up in an attempt to get the distance which she probably did, however, she took a tug and it would have probably been wise to let her get on with it,CONTAT another confirmed front runner was taken away from the other runners and raced on himself, with hindsight it looked a poor tactical move, the “clown of the race award“ is given to Terry Hellier for his incompetant ride on INTREPID JACK,taken from the inside to race midtrack off the curve leading into the straight was a misjudged move, you don`t expect to see such a thing in a 6 horse race, ABBADJINN chased home the winner and that`s about as good as he his, OVERDOSE was given a few sharp reminders to see off his rivals which he did, lets keep things in persective , the horse is 9 from 9 and he`s only three, he`s certainly put Hungary on the map ,how good he his we don`t really know until he meets better horses, i for one couldn`t see him living with MARCHAND DÒR!!
another note of interest, the Bookmaker on the track Simon Springer was very keen to lay this horse,he was offering evens whilst the Tote paid 1-2 (1,50),from what i saw this was well received as many tickets won`t be paid out until today, i would estimate this race cost him 200K!!
When i started out the idea of being an “oncourse Bookmaker“ was like a dream, however, in those days (20 years ago) the reality was something differant, it was almost impossible to get good pitches so it was dogs and “back line duty“ when the opportunity arose.
Fortunately for me i was quick in once the technology game started thus going on course was never an option once pitches came up for sale………. i must thank god for that!!
Oncourse Bookmaking as its place , it will always appeal to the day trippers and casual punters alike, however, its potential is seriously limited and commercially seen it can hardly be desribed as lucrative.
I guess the key is filling the tracks with a real audience, unfortunately, the average racing fan couldn`t afford to go to the track on a regular basis, entry fees in the UK are excessive!!
Hi Halfwaytoheaven,
I managed to get 10-1 once i saw price contracting, she was 8,0 on the track which was slightly worse than what the English bookies where offering, the great thing is we have the best of both worlds when Bookies chalk up !!
Halfwaytoheaven,
Where did you get those prices?
Coastal will almost certainly start under even money on both the PMU and with the UK Bookies!
Mark, I price up to a Bookmakers margin , the clever ones can work back from that
these are not the prices i would neccessarily take, thats why i make my suggestion at the end!Naja………just my method
Make this short an sweet!!
My price guide in brackets)
FIRST STORM (20-1) Profile of 1 win from 12 says he`s not upto this level, ran ok at Chantilly 2 runs back but will find PAPUL BULL a differant ball game.
ORIENTAL TIGER (11-2) Nuts!, will need to settle better than he did in Baden Baden, likes it around here and very good on his day, however,i can`t imagine him beating the BULL, in fact i can see him setting the race up for the Stoute runner
PAPUL BULL (1-2), not the most straightforward animal but highly talented, Cologne should suit him and their should be enough pace on which will give him a target, its not as though he needs producing on the line , hard to see further!
PRINZ (33-1) Everything says no way!
AKIEM 10-1) Talking horse, needs to start showing it on the track, could still be the horse to chase home the jolly!
KAMSIM (9-2) Won the German Derby from the front, certainly decent in his own right and 3-y-o allowance in this part of the world will assist his cause, however,im not taking the Derby form that serious because it needs substanciating and in my opinion it ran like a moderate Derby!
For the adventurous take PAPUL to to AKIEM in a sf, of course if you can get anywhere near evens the jolly break their hands off!!
I appreciate Sageburg but I have preference to a straight-out soft rather than good-to-soft.
Haven’t dissected the field yet, but Tamayuz could not beat Natagora, Sageburg and maybe Major Cadeaux for toe if they set a pedestrian walk.
Pacemaker+ front runners should gaurantee anything but a pedestrian walk!
The going looked quite holding yesterday, some horses where going through it but others where stopping as though shot
My price in brackets
SAGEBURG (11-4) His he a true miler?,surely better at 10f in my opinion, all the same a serious horse who should run his race, thereabouts!
RACINGER (10-1) Likes to get on with it so he will probably take up the running when the pacemaker gives way, first run could see him grab a place, stable 2nd string but not a lot to find and FH could run the stable cat at the moment and it would probably win!
RUNAWAY (100-1) Not the horse he was!
MAJOR CADEAUX (9-1) only UK rep, probably better at 7f but very decent on his day, race could be run to suit so he has a chance of running into a place!
SINDAJAR (20-1) Pacemaker who won`t be allowed to get away !!
TAMAYUZ (11-10), that man again (F Head), some domesday followers say he was flattered last time,i say bollocks!!, he won pulling the proverbial cart, that was very impressive,no reason to think it was a one off, horse can be ridden on or off the pace so we have the best of both worlds……………….Paddy Powers 2-1 should be taken!
ARCADIAS ANGEL (16-1) Improved steadily before disappointing lto, maybe thats as good as he his, however, certainly no mug so lets not treat him as one!
NATAGORA (6-1) Would be my lay in the race, shame theirs no liquidity on the Betfair markets, what you saw lto is what she is,half decent and nothing more, winning the 1000gns suggested she was better than she is,had the run of the race there, forms not working out and latest 2.5L third puts everything in perspective!
10 points to play with
9 Win TAMAYUZ at 2-1 (Paddy Power)
1pt Couple place Racinger/Tamayuz!
For those who didn`t see the race:
DEL RE MI (3.6 Tote) was a comfortable winner, pushed out to win by 1.5l, hope some of you took the advice to take the Laddies price!, also managed to lay KAREEMAH who came last, like i mentioned the price was totally wrong, most of the horse he beat on his debut where useless!
Earlier in the day DESERT CHILL started favourite (Only god knows why!!) but was easily put in place, the winner SAFROUA got up on the line and won by a head, however,he caused plenty of interferance and their was a long stewards enquiry and objection, to my surprise nothing happened……………i need to get the latest rules on interferance from the French authorities as this sort of thing is not usually condoned, if it was a foreign winner i would have bet on disqualification!
I wouldn`t even go in a bar and drink water if i had to drive in Stockholm on a friday night,Swedes are keen on their road checks for drinking (No tolerence!), ive had a few strong words with the police for this annoying obsession,Swedish beer is priced on its alcohal content thus many people drink beer with 2% content, tastes like crap to me!!
Mind you, doesn`t stop the Swedes drinking!!
