    Just a note:

Surely a bigger worry for followers of the favorite is trainer form! Mme Corine Barande Barbe is 78 without a win, whilst it´s fair to say she does´t have many like Cirrus in her stables her stats still have to be a big worry, 27 runners in the past 30 days with 2 placed!

Maybe old school but im for people keeping their word, Fallon certainly gave the impression that he had the choice of rides but he didn`t, correct decision!

Seems to be fashion in France, they seem to like getting the best out of the photo as they cross the line.

Was just an everyday ride from what i saw, nothing out of the ordinary, just happened to be the Derby.

Upcoming jockey but way short of Soumillion at this stage!!

In France i`ve learnt to bet according to the price, with two markets running simoltaneous their might be an edge, Chincon and Timos are crossed off in my book so im down to 4, what i dont like about DARYKANA is she`s a little onepaced in my opinion, i would go over stayer trips with her, the Japanese horse NAKAYAMA FESTA is certaily decent but he`s never been in a small field, how he will handle it who knows and whether he`s good enough is also down to question, that leaves BYWORD and DUNCAN, i think this track will really suit the latter , he`s a great price on Betfair 10.5 and with stable in cracking form he`s certainly worth a small interest, BYWORD as the best form and is the one to beat but small fields throw surprises so unless i see a bit of 3,0 ill stay with just the one in the race!

I`m of a slightly differant opinion with regards to what i expect to be the outcome, for me MIDDAY is a vastly improved filly, the way she ran all over STACELITA proved their was much more in the tank and she stayed on very strongly to beat the talented SNOW FAIRY, she`s never won on her seasonal debut so her earlier 2nd to SARISKA could be forgiven especially considering the easy 10F at York was probably against her, the going is reported as Good-Soft which will be fine, even slower going wouldn`t put me off the daughter of OASIS DREAM, SARISKA on the other hand as started every season off with a win and what we saw from her last time was very offputting, im seeing 5,2 on Betfair which for me is probably right, however, if you are betting her take the PMU price, it will be better for sure (ps 95% of my bets are in France so i can say i have a good feeling of the pmu), if it turned out soft a case could be made for HIGH HEELED, im sure she will be really well suited by this track, the German trained ENORA is very highly rated, will be interesting to see how she goes, like the poster i too didn`t see enough in the run of SARAFINA when she got first run on her stablemate ROSANARA, if these 2 met again i would have taken the latter to reverse(in theory has it wouldnt happen on the PMU….coupled), PLUMANIA stole the race last time so im not going to take serious!

    Interesting race to savour!

Half a stone better, your joking, they are at least a stone better, Christoph Pieux is an “as been“ im afraid, i saw him recently in Cagnes fall in three races on the same day, he pulls up more horses than he should and he`s not the same jockey that he was 6 years ago

Thanks Bullwark for taking the time, excellent stuff Treggy, no arguing that one, i thought i had you in my sights until you pulled out that 33-1.

These big meetings don`t really suit my way of betting as the market tends to be well informed, my only bet this week was Chapoturgeon as i thought their was plenty of play in his h`cap mark and more importantly he was stepping up in distance (so a rare winning Cheltenham)!

What i found very interesting was the Tote pools of between 200-500K per race, with a take out of 16% you would think their was some value to be had in those big fields,a couple of the lads tipped Something wells and it paid 48.70 on the Tote as opposed to 33-1 SP.

Ruby Walsh was fantastic, i`m not really his biggest fan as i always think he gets unshipped too easily, however, just dues, he was a star!

Hope you all had a good week!

    My performance so far:

After being held up towards the rear i started making nice headway through the field at halfway, on the bridal with the leader in sight going to the 3rd last (Last race yesterday) i and most of the others got outpaced (when the frontrunner found a 33-1 winner) when the frontrunner kicked again and went 15l clear going to the 2nd last.

With Teggy now trading at 1.05 on BF will he tie up and allow a finisher to mug him near the line, looks unlikely but this is Cheltenham with a stiff uphill finish,will:-

-Imperial call find his rhythm again after weakening somewhat yesterday?
-Tony25(me)be able to raise his game?
-Simmo be waiting with a big finish after being somewhat outpaced in mid race?
-Wakeman one of the early front runners rally
-Swallow cottage who appears to be finding a late burst be able to sustain his effort?
-Zebra who must have hit a fence or two very hard yesterday be able to recover in time?
-The bairn be able to quicken after looking a bit onepaced?
-Welsh wizard/Gerald/See pigeon/Ultraman/Stilvi be able to run into a place?

With all this excitement lets get it on!!

    Thanks for that!

I`m of the opinion that the UK takeouts are as the link suggests, however, i can`t see the logic in taking a bigger deduction from the place pool than the win!!

With regards to Ireland, i was totting up a few races yesterday and usually landed around 125-126% suggesting a 20% deduction is about right……….think the pools are weak though?

Paul Webber appears to be jinxed, whilst Pressgang has sadly been put down he has also lost One Gulp, Swaythe,Patricksnineteenth to racing in the past 9 months!

Pressgang broke his right foot cannon bone before jumping the downhill fence.

With regards to ONE GULP, she`s visiting KAYF TARA in the coming weeks, lets watch out for this offspring on heavy ground!!

    OK….i`ll disagree with you !!

David Johnson your entitled to your opinion but ive watched this race several times and i still can`t understand why Spencer wanted to play the hare in the straight, Petrovski was running green and by going so early Spencer literally gave him a second bite of the cherry, irrespective of who`s the better horse , he shouldn`t have won!!

Dennis…Maybe the rule is wrong, punters who backed Physco where unlucky……………my point is:-

Rules are rules and they are in print!

The French will never seize to amaze me

We have had no racing in Deauville for the past 10 days as underfoot conditions where attrocious, the lazy sods couldn`t be bothered to work the track!!

Following a management meeting yesterday they decided to make the effort to race today , we have just had the coldest night (-13 degrees) of the winter and the tractors are whizzing around the track for the past 6 hours, result, we are fit for racing!!

Just shows that a bit of effort can make the differance!!

If the British Bookmakers decide to show the afternoon card and you have nothing better to do you might want to take a look at the following horses:-

13.05 SKY CRUSADER Ex Recke , won the Mijas cup, been running in claimers lately but looked really good last time(Kicking myself that i didn`t claim him ),gets in off a mark of 38 which looks very lenient, i know the past trainer had an high opinion of this horse but at the same time he must have had problems training him as he`s very lightly raced and they literally gave him away, 1500 metres is probably short of his best but the fast pace will see him have the race run to suit, interesting proposition!, i would cover the bet with FAREION, this horse as a favourable h`cap mark,he goes on sand and has a strong jockey in the saddle , i can`t see beyond these two!

15.35 NARANJA should win the 7th, again surprising to see the filly turn up in a claimer, the German trained runner is very well treated at the weights, we are obviously hoping for the best with GLOBAL DREAM ,however,he`s got back problems so despite training well the h`cap mark is more important, TORONTO should run his race and rates the main danger although the Itailian SALICE BIANCO should be treated with respect, tricast is interesting with NARANJA 1st and the other three put in a combination!

lucky last………..I can drop a good word for LAMBORGINO .

Talking about a wasted journey….3 horses in Deauville and they can`t get to race, last week 2 meetings knocked out, tommorrow and Wednesday are gonners, talk about incompetetance, the idiots that run the course would win a gold medal in “unorganised chaos“!!

I think Francois Douman put French Bureaucracy up as is biggest complaint in life………..i will go along with that!!
