I seldom watch h`caps in Ireland but i take in all the novice hurdles/chases and significant races , from watching these i am of the opinion that McNamara won`t be much of an improvement although he`s probably a better chase jockey than he is hurdles, the ride he gave JUDGE ROY BEAN was incompetetant,on SIZING EUROPE he got their far too soon (Ignoring the fact that the horse is a bottler) and on DONT PUSH IT he was outridden by a jockey who is hardly an household name!!

With regards to Daryl Jacob, im no great fan but i think his knowledge of the horse probably won him races, i wouldn`t be tempted to change trainer as the horse isn`t the youngest and he`s probably suited by the Alners!

Know reason to oppose UNITED unless you like the bounce theory, the mare as a fair bit in hand on this field and i`m pleasantly surprised that she`s available at odds of around 2,3 on Betfair, i tissued her up at 8-11 so at those odds i will be a big player.

Since appearing on the jumping scene she`s proved how adaptable she is, 2m-3mile, heavy to good, LH or RH, from the front or behind, she looked back to her best when landing a competitive h`cap last time, i really can`t look any further!!

I would like the idiots who run Deauville to get out of bed and turn the track so horses don`t get injured and whole programmes don`t need to be cancelled!

I would also like to land a few coups at the above track during the next week so my year is paid for :-(

I hope Henrietta Knight keeps focused and aims Calgary Bay at the Arkle despite her comments suggesting he would be run off his feet!

On a differant note i hope Chelsea can get it together and win the Champions league !

Then the usual stuff with Good health for all :D

Congratulations to the whole team and an extra word of praise for “Stall Jenny“ (Owners) , without them i don`t think their would be a jumping scene in Germany.

I`ve always considered the trainer the Martin Pipe of German racing, his horses always seem to be a tick fitter and he`s very talented in scouring the racing book for the right type of opportunities!

With regards to the horse, its an amazing success story, from sprinter to chaser, from scraping home in a moderate race in Baden Baden to landing one of the majors yesterday, full congratulations to the jockey, ive never seen FIEPPES fight back once headed and that was as good a round of jumping as ive seen from him.

How refreshing it is to see the likes of Darren opening his heart up to the racing forum , obviously an emotional person who enjoys life, good-on-yer!

I think McCoy is made for TWIST MAGIC and the race will be run to suit, the first three i would remove from the equation are:

ASHLEY BROOK :- Needs to bounce back from a very moderate effort, runs more poor races than good ones nowdays!

LORD HENRY: Looks fully exposed and hasn`t shown much in last three runs

FIEPPES SHUFFLE:- Can`t get out of my head the way he scrambled home at Baden Baden against a much inferior horse, also think other front runners will put pressure on his jumping, if your looking for something positive its the better ground and the sharp two miles and i assume the trainer left a bit to work on

PABLO DU CHARMIL is a law unto himself but he`s very talented so he could be interesting at a big price,TAKEROC is likely to come on for his last run but he looks like a “bridal horse“ to me, PETIT ROBIN comes into the race at the top of his game and thats worth something, if TWIST MAGIC doesn`t run his race i would expect him to be the main beneficiary!!

All in all, probably a race for watching, good luck to all the competitors!

    Congrats, Tony.

Pressgang almost threw it away (many will say his jockey did..) and he has to be backed next time.

    Zip

    Getzippy,

Be interesting to see how the h`capper reacts, i`m guessing they will move him up 10lbs to 135, he`s not the easiest of horses and it will surely be an advantage to hold on to him longer, al the same i thought it was pretty conclusive the way he won!

Was certainly a good day yesterday, the two i put up here won and my only bet in Deauville bolted home, in some ways today looks even more interesting so back to work!!

I`ll take PRESSGANG in the 3.15 at Kempton, he was by far and away the best horse in his last race despite finishing 2nd (Personally i blame Timmy Murphy for the defeat as he confused the horse at the 4th last and he nearly ended on the floor),ìf i believe that then i must believe he`s on a nice mark at 125! going right handed on decent ground is what the doc ordered, nothing progressive as him in the race.

I also like Breedsbreeze in the 2nd, im sure this race will be run to suit and i would fancy him to get the better on The Market man (Henderson suggested he wouldn`t raxe until Feb!) and im not convinced Massinis maguire is has good as he looked on his chase debut, Millenium Royal from the Douman yarddoesn`t do much for me especially with useless Pieux taking the ride, the guy used to be half decent but he`s riding like a big girls blouse at the moment, he looks like he`s had one fall too many!!

The career of Paul Webber has always puzzled me – when he took over from the dad he quickly showed himself to be a young trainer with immense potential who could one day be challenge for a place at the top table. But that never happened.

Is it a case of him simply not wanting to expand or have the been other problems behind the scenes? I know he was involved in the Oliver Sherwood "underbidding" situation, and from memory he was the bloodstock agent in that loop. So is it simply a case his bloodstock activities have prevented him from devoting enough time to training to make it a serious operation?

Many condemned him for the Oliver Sherwood “underbidding“ situation and without going into detail he probably deserved it!, still, let bygones be bygones and judge the man on his openess and pleasant character!

however, what`s amazing is “`Firefox“ as put my innerer thoughts forward, Webber should either be a trainer or a Bloodstock agent, it doesn`t look serious when you try to do both !

Paul is a very likeable chap, it was decent of him to let the racing public know that One Gulp will be ok despite her racing career being finished!

The trainer must feel someone “looking down“ doesn`t much care for him, he`s been desperately unlucky down the years, DE SOTO just getting run out of the champion bumper followed by lameness, a desperate virus that left him very short of winners last time round, just as things where looking up this happens, sods law i guess!

I think Dominic Elsworth is worth a mention, his decisive action probably saved the fillies life,a genuine horseman if their ever was one!

Would suggest there are more than just takeout problems at Mijas ie. pre-determined race results

Can`t see what that would bring when turnover per race averages about 3K!!

I’ve been told the San Sebastian ampitheatre is a state-of-the-art wagering facility, and very lively with bookmaker stands in their droves.

HaHa………very funny!, on my local track (Mijas) the tote bets to 154% (win),fixed price betting doesn`t exist as theirs no legislation covering Bookmaking in Andalucia, the muppets that run the show (Globaltote) have been accused of everything including Money laundering , it`s desperate!!

Madrid is very differant in that they follow the French PMU method, takeout is much lower and turnover much higher, with regards to San Sebastian , at least it comes under a jurisdiction that have started licensing Bookmakers

The quality of racing in Spain is not that bad to be honest and it will improve!!,at least the low level prizemoney is better than in the UK!

Still, knowone had experience of betting with Victoria (Hills/Codere)?

    SL, Thanks!

    Rob,

Sorry Rob, Can`t answer 1 or 2 as i didn`t take notes on the last show, just observed how the winner was shortened after the race (Well, compared to the Data supplied from SIS)

    3. 111% 6 runers (1.83% per runner)

122% 14 runners (1,57% per runner which is fair enough considering the race was a bumper)

    118% 9 runners (2 % per runner). Newbury!!

From experience i know the likes of Bangor and Ayr offer lower over-rounds than the likes of Lingfield, in fact Southern Bookmakers tend to keep a bit more in for themselves!!

SL…..So you are convinced the SP is an accurate reflection of the prices being offered at the track?

I remember the system being changed but like i say it doesn`t really effect me thus i never went into any depth, so the likes of SIS are the culprits as far as SP customers are concerned!

How are the Irish SPS acquired?

BWin have a lot of problems in Germany and in certain States like Bayern they are prohibited from taking bets over the internet or by any other means, with regards to retail Bwin have no shops in Germany, in fact the biggest Bookmaker operating the German high street is Tipico (circa 450 locations), Bet3000, Digibet, Primebet and Ambassador (This is all Sportsbookmaking), all bets taken are transfered outside of German borders by intermediaries thus they get around licensing procedure, which incidently is not available!!

I guess my real question relates to Sportsbetting, are these Bookies in Madrid giving over the odds, it happens in many countries (believe me), to be honest im not really expecting anyone to know as this is more my scene and i simply need to go there and have a look!!

    But who knows…..nothing ventured,nothing gained,thus the question!

Unfortunately their doesn`t appear to be much in the two mile division and as far as TIDAL BAY is concerned if he jumps like he did yesterday he wouldn`t get over the first at Cheltenham, of course MM is the one to beat but 8-11 is laying material, we are talking three months + Cheltenhams tricky fences to overcome!!
