Was quite keen on Petit robin here until I saw how many other front runners there were.

Ashley Brook, Petit Robin, Fiepes Shuffle, Lord Henry and even Pablo Du charmil all like to race up with the pace.

Twist Magic was going better than Takeroc last time, but he always travels well. Good ground may help both horses to get home. We don’t quite know how Twist will go after an awful fall in the Tingle Creek.

Hope Fiepes Shuffle goes well for Anglo German and pals. Uncharacteristic fall at the first at Sandown. Getting 10lbs off Twist Magic today, surely has a bit of a chance at 33/1. If coping with the other prominent runners. Horse did them proud, jumping in front without a jockey for most of the race. Just shows he likes to lead.

Lord Henry was held up last time in an attempt to stay 2 1/2 miles, seemed to resent it, failed to jump well enough. Can’t be discounted at best, with the same front running question.

Pablo Du Charmil ran well first time up as he usually does but lost his form last term. Stable in poor form. Can at least track the pace.

Ashley Brook ran well from the front at Exeter but ran poorly soon afterwards in the Paddy Power.

Petit Robin is on the up but he too likes to make it, has done so most starts. Progressive.

I think there is a distinct possibility of some of these cutting each others throats or sulking if restrained. Which will suit Twist Magic and Takeroc. I don’t have much between them and on that basis takeroc must be backed at twice the price of his stable companion. TW is 2/1 Takeroc is 9/2 on the exchanges. The “he’s the second string so won’t win” brigade have made this horse a good bet.

Thanks for that Mark. Flipper is really well, and were hoping for a decent run. What I can’t work out is that the bookies have Pablo Du Charmil at roughly half Flippers price, yet Flipper was clear of him in the Celebration Chase as is now 6 lbs better off. We’ve got our man Jamie on board again, and this time we’ll try and get over the first!!! Of course this is a really good race, probably better than the other group 2 he ran in what wth the Nicholls pair in it, but we’ll give it our best shot!

If any TRFers are going, I’ll be there in the parade ring before the race – I might be required for our other two runners as well, but Christian will give me my instructions tomorrow on that.

Twist Magic shows all the signs of being a short-runner but, even giving weight, if he can’t last home on on this ground around this track, it’s difficult to see where he’ll win anything, imo.

Fast ground (times were quicker than standard yesterday), a sharp two miles – Gotta be Twist Magic hasn’t it?

I think McCoy is made for TWIST MAGIC and the race will be run to suit, the first three i would remove from the equation are:

ASHLEY BROOK :- Needs to bounce back from a very moderate effort, runs more poor races than good ones nowdays!

LORD HENRY: Looks fully exposed and hasn`t shown much in last three runs

FIEPPES SHUFFLE:- Can`t get out of my head the way he scrambled home at Baden Baden against a much inferior horse, also think other front runners will put pressure on his jumping, if your looking for something positive its the better ground and the sharp two miles and i assume the trainer left a bit to work on

PABLO DU CHARMIL is a law unto himself but he`s very talented so he could be interesting at a big price,TAKEROC is likely to come on for his last run but he looks like a “bridal horse“ to me, PETIT ROBIN comes into the race at the top of his game and thats worth something, if TWIST MAGIC doesn`t run his race i would expect him to be the main beneficiary!!

All in all, probably a race for watching, good luck to all the competitors!

I think Twist Magic will act on the ground but I am not certain. In theory it should help him last home. But I am not sure whrther he is not just a weak finisher (on any ground). After all, his best two performances (on form) have come in the Tingle Creek on a soft surface.

Bear in mind that Petit Robin isn’t necessarily a front-runner- everyone at Henderson’s knew how well-in he was at Newbury, sending him off in front was the best way of avoiding any mis-haps.

I was astounded to find that the BHA have persisted with this 170 rating for Twist Magic (although it is of course of little relevance today). That rating probably entitles him to be odds-on at these weights, and I doubt if many would be backing him if that was the case.

According to my form book Petit Robin made all for both his wins last year and on reappearance. Though that is not to say he is not capable of being held up, it is worrying and has to be allowed for in my calculations.

Have now saved on both Fieppes Shuffle and Lord Henry, as the drying ground looks in their favour. Second and third behind Andreas at Sandown last year on similar ground. 33/1 and 20/1.

Petit Robin may not have to make the running but he’s got a few front runners to contend with here he is up against a better class of horse than he’s faced before and he’s not going to be wanting to run a race he isn’t used to when making such a leap in class.

They could go a scolding pace here (there are a couple of horses that habitually blaze a trail) and that could set the race up for Twist Magic as they did for Harchibald in yesterdays hurdle race.

I can’t see Twist Magic losing this race, especially with a decent pace almost guaranteed.

I make the 2/1 I’ve secured about Twist Magic the bet of the weekend.

Twist Magic, being Twist Magic, should win this on the bridle like the class
horse he is.Unfortunately he too can run like a pig even when conditions
should suit, todays conditions are perfect for the real "Twist" to prove he is
a Champion chaser in waiting! at 2/1 i will be happy to just watch! he is a
good horse to lay at a short price because of his little quirks! He is still
my number one Champion chase contender at 33/1 though!!

    Strange race.

Twist Magic what a little ******* he is. Didn’t want to start, didn’t seem to want to run and didn’t want to jump.

Thought Petit Robin was going to win at the end but well done to Fiepes Shuffle for battling back.

Well done to connections of "Fiepes Shuffle" 33/1 was a cracking price
and some look like they took plenty!
