Rory,
Yes where to stop!!,plenty of nice prospects in the list, luck needed, lets hope its a good season.
all the best with all your lists
Must admit i`ve never been tempted to do the “Tote 10“……….. until late last night when i was sitting by the computer with RP open and my credit card staring me in the face,i`ve done several lines as i can`t stand losing:biggrin:
Used has bankers:-
KICKING KING :- Although i was far from impressed with his return (Could be an opt out come January, however, King George looks at his mercy)
OLLIE MAGERN:- Could be the new king of Cheltenham although im not overly keen on his rider.
CELTIC SON:- Best round of jumping ive seen from a novice on his debut in past 5 years.
INGLIS DREVER:- This for me is the 100%er.
OUR VIC:- Don`t need to be a genius to see that he stands out at these weights for the Paddy Power and has he seems to like Cheltenham he could follow up at the festival.
Supporting the biggies:-
BRAVE INCA as he`s the one i would want to be on if Champion was run tommorrow, however, predicting the champion looks a major task at this stage!!
DE SOTO should have won champion bumper, will be wiser this time round and Paul Webber my fav trainer;)
TIDOUR Improved through novice year,Cheltenham bound with a bit of luck.
THE MARKET MAN Looks a fair way ahead of the h`capper and could chalk up a sequence, downside is the h`cappers likely reaction!!
MY WAY DE SOLZEN real chaser in the making and likely to have a good novice season, bigger tracks should suit this strong galloper.
OVER THE CREEK probably overhyped but we have a get out clause come January:biggrin:
MONETS GARDEN:- Change in system will stop him sitting up north whilst cleaning up,however,he`s the one who could mix it with the southern boys and Irish.
RACING DEMON downside is stables horses are usually wrapped in cotton wool, however, hard not to be taken with chase debut.
FUNDAMENTALIST Wish he was a year older has he would probably me idea of Grand national winner,2nd seasons are notoriously hard but this chap looks top drawer!!
MOSCOW FLYER Guess we should stick with him until we see signs of deteriation.
No Nicholls horse although i like the way he places his charges,no JJ because i avoid him like i avoid eating chickens in Croatia, should probably have a few more Irish horses in the perm although the one i don`t like is WAR OF ATTRITION……can`t jump!!
Probably more chance of winning the lottery but what the hell……..good luck!!

I too think the KYC as a lot to do with the current blip!!,i know many of my freinds who have accounts at Betfair feel disgruntled by the way Betfair handle the situation (ps…these are sportsbettors and not racing!!)….ie you provide them what they request and then you still need to chase up the re-opening of the account, their support department appears extremely amateurish to say the least!!
I`ve always thought Exchanges where ideal for Asian h`cap betting, however,as the likes of Betfair refuse to discount they have found it difficult to make a serious impact (not enough liquidity for the big rollers ).
Betting exchanges in the UK have little competition from the Bookmakers with regards to Football betting, with traditional companies like Ladbrokes thinking its normal to bet 111.2% on a premier league football match the scope is pretty obvious, even companies like Premierbet of Bet365 who bet to 108% hardly make for competivity (Bookmakers with a Scandanavian/German customerbase bet major leagues to 105-107%).
IMO………..Betting exchanges like Betfair will struggle for liquidity if they don`t look further ahead, their `´poker room“ is hardly unique so they would do well to focus on keeping the client base on the upward curve,i would suggest discounting where neccessary and a better support would be a good starting point!!
A few interesting comments,some observations:-
Hi Tooting…………..Yes i tried to warn everyone away from SO but for some reason the thread was removed after a day or so?
Nick……………Low commission is an incentive (Try negotiating a reduced rate) and like you say Ians Exchange has its place,if you like sportsbetting take a look at http://www.mansion.com 0% //Ex CEO of Canbet is running the show//financed by a well established businessman who`s reportedly the fifth richest person in Indonesia//Licence in Gibraltar (intensive due diligence gauranteed)…………….I find Betfair ideal for horseracing, however, i can usually find better elsewhere on most sporting events, their reluctance to discount is a big negative(Especially on Asian h`caps where i`m more involved)……..in fact companies like Pinnacle/Pointbet and even Centrebet are more interesting!!
Ian……………Don`t know why you bother replying to certain jibes, simply not worth the effort!!………Whats the deal you where offered with Moneybookers (8% commercial),i can assure you the costs i`m looking at are much less, much, much!!……the downside is punters can`t move around more than 30K (Euro) within three months…..If people want to deposit from overseas Bank transfer using IBAN would be a cheap feasible alternative, the EU regulates thieving banks!!
Seeding………..I would estimate 95% of the betting exchanges are seeded,i can`t see the problem with it if the Exchange can ride the costs…….. ie own account with own funds thrown in!!
Right ……………off to watch the basketball!!
Good luck
Larry maybe i`m involved in the gaming and betting industry, maybe i`ve had dealings with this company:o
Bet collector are a Swedish company based in Stockholm, they use a modified trading software (As per Stock exchange) which waters the markets when required .ie early doors/Live betting etc.
They are not alone in this, funnily enough (Thinking of Redman) the best software on the market (so i`m told) is operated by an Australian syndicate fronted by a guy called Zeljko Ranogajec, apparently they are more interested in the Horse race markets!!
IMO these bots are excellent for Exchange betting, they help create value which in effect keeps the margins tight!!
Betting exchanges welcome Bots as their competivity and liquidity relys upon them.
Quote: from Nick Hatton on 12:52 am on May 7, 2004[br]Is that really true Mounty ?
I was under the impression that nobody pays less than 2%
If only you knew…………………Lets just say “Bet Collector“have what could de desribed has a commission rate of below zero (They receive part of any commission thats been raised against them and pay nothing on their winnings!!).
Bet collector are responsible for stimulating the markets, they work for several leading exchanges including Betfair!!
Ali.
If they meet again i would go in big on Lewis,he will be more motivated,Klitchko is one dimentional and fairly easy to pick off.
They are saying the judges had Vitali 2 rounds up,i couldn`t see that,Vitali certainly won the second,Lewis must have won the 3rd and 6th,the 1st,4th and 5th didn`t have any clear winner!!
If the fight went on Lewis would have won!!
The wizard—–can i have access to your bookmaker, even money Sven Ottka when the real price was 1-20!!.
We have all seen the fight now and i`m personally considering myself a bit fortunate to be collecting, whats with Lewis, this Klitschko is a real donkey and i expected he would bang him away fairly quickly,Lewis is finding it hard to get motivated!!
Did you see the fight Klitschko vs Byrd,he was totally outboxed and out manouvered——-i`ve seen all their fights and would say the younger Vladimir is technically much better than his brother despite being put away last time.
The Heavyweight division has become boring in my opinion!!
Letthebighossroll says…….”here are my 6 candidates”…..i think you will find thats 8 you have given!!
Best jockey of all time………..Steve Cauthen
Wallace……I thought you where bringing bad news until i read it was the racing channel….who will miss it?
Has for ATR offering full coverage……..it would be logical and whilst you will happy to pay 20 quid a month for an uninterupted service i will pay 100 if they get rid of all the muppets.
ps….Offer doesn’t stand whilst we have no real racing!!
Daylight……..its certainly a racing post letter job although you will need to trim the story or take out a full page ad (lol).
Kick up a fuss and don’t let it die without some satisfaction.
ps…….If that had happened to me i would have flipped and probably spent the next day in front of the local magistrate!!

Unfortunately when one sees a 10-1 shot being offered at a massive 49-1 in a race where the SP make up is 128% the alarm bells tend to ring, this is especially so when the horse is pulled up lame and later put down…….a tragic and sad case for all concerned.
Their is no doubt that stiffer regulation has to be introduced in order to cover the integrity of the sport…..maybe a simpler form of the ‘fit and proper’ test is in order (for the layers),however,it would be naive to think that this alone would wipe out all the skullduggery….maybe a better option would be to form a review committee (at the cost of the exchanges),they could be given a free hand and be impartial…..a sort of referee with the power to investigate, ‘red card’ and prosecute if neccessary.
Has a relatively large user of the exchanges i would welcome any form of regulation that took away the mistrust from current proceedings….if this means me coughing up another 0.5% commission so be it!!
A bookmaker on the racecourse wanting to lay a horse that was trading at 9-4 would go 5-2 and be accomodated…….thats the form of trader i am and i expect thats the way to go…….if i wanted to punt something myself and i thought i could manipulate the market a little i would…..thats called gamesmanship and any bookmaker with the slightest understanding would do the same……pushing someting out in order to get yourself a decent price is in order!!!…..if i jumped off a cliff i wouldn’t expect anyone to follow me …… those who did must accept the consequences!!
All in all if everybody played the Gentleman life would be much more bearable.
Nobody can argue……regulation is needed and better sooner rather than later. ÂÂÂ

I am a great advocate of the can’t win can’t lose scenerio !!……its something i’ve discussed at legnth with the German racing authorities where a 10,10,10 place is normal!!!
The only way around it is to return to 100’s as fractions and pay 1.01 if neccessary.
A no win situation with the possibility of losing is an horrendous thought.
Rory……i meant IMO and allegedly;)
A tote monopoly of the UK………Unrealistic,it can be compared to an execution (you shoot the person and then find out he’s not guilty…what can you do?)…..in the same instance you allow free enterprise …..its unreversable unless your name is Stalin!!
ps……If bookmakers didn’t exist and we had a tote monopoly of the UK i doubt live pictures would exist,in fact i doubt the blower would have been invented.
The tote is a poorly run organisation…..it always as been and always will be….anyone who respects the totes achievements in the past 40 years must work for British rail…the two are on a par.
Robnorth……Well said.
Last theatre also drifted before his previous start, furthermore, the bookies where probably testing the water putting him in so short.
I rarely punt or lay on the all weather and certainly didn’t on the Creskeld race……however,i did watch the race and for me the horse simply missed the kick after rearing in the start box………in all fairness the jockey tried everything he could to redeem the situation.
Punters taking such prices on muppet races like that need to see a psychiatrist…..its nothing short of insane.
