    Any thoughts on Matt Williams?

Personally, i think he talks a load of Rubbish , i only ever read the Racing post (Columns) in the evenings as i`m not interested in their tips , today he`s ranting on about how good Jamie Spencer is, describes him as a “premier league“ player who`s up against the lower leagues during the AW season, looks like he put the mockers on him today , i thought “Franks“ ride on LUCKIER was incompetent, what on earth made him kick so early whilst the eventual winner was running so green upfront, if he took a lead into the straight and rode her for speed their would have been another result, he gave the winner something to run at………poor!

Going back to Williams, anyone keep a track on his selections?, everytime i seem to look through his column his predictions seem to be way off the mark and the prices he suggests are usually unrealistic!

Talk about Williams ranting, what`s he going on about with regards to yesterday “PIERSE“ and the weights being moved up……..surely, it`s a sensible approach, the Irish do several things differently like having reserves for races that carry max numbers (Why not?)………….Has a punter you should know the rules so i for one can`t see any conflict!!

    What`s your thoughts?

Whether you know the rules or not, it’s a totally unsatisfactory affair that you could place your bet on a horse in the belief he’s conceding 10 lb to certain rivals only to find out subsequently and with no comeback that he’s actually conceding 18 lb.

Regarding Matt Williams, he’s generally one of the more interesting contributors to the Post, he usually has an opinion but I wouldn’t have a clue how successful his tips are.

Regarding Spencer’s ride on Luckier, it’s easy to say in hindsight he should of waited but his filly showed signs of temperament once in front that she hadn’t displayed previously. Beforehand I thought Petrovsky looked the far better handicapped of the pair too and I think time will tell his mount had a fair bit on in any case.

See the Pierse thread in the big race section Tony as to why you are dead wrong on this question.

    OK….i`ll disagree with you !!

David Johnson your entitled to your opinion but ive watched this race several times and i still can`t understand why Spencer wanted to play the hare in the straight, Petrovski was running green and by going so early Spencer literally gave him a second bite of the cherry, irrespective of who`s the better horse , he shouldn`t have won!!

Dennis…Maybe the rule is wrong, punters who backed Physco where unlucky……………my point is:-

Rules are rules and they are in print!

Let me get this right: you seem to be complaining because Matt Williams is opinionated?

I don’t care about whether a tipster is proved to be right or wong: only that they give their opinion before the race, it is interesting, and it is backed-up with evidence or some justification. Matt does all of those in The Trading Post and is always worth a read IMO.

I don’t keep a record of any tipster but, though I only tend to buy The RP on Saturdays, he seems to field against a lot of eventual losers and pick a few winners at decent prices. Seems to be the most succesful tipster asides from Gerland Delamare, who is pretty consistent.

Has he managed to catch up with Matt Imi yet regards the artificial delay on the ATR "red" button?
