Quick point about this race..
I was going to back Kasbah Bliss as I think the ground will be riding on the quick side of good, however, the race is now on the old course which is a fair bit stiffer than the new course. Not ideal.
Scrap it and make sure the ground is right for the Ebor meeting.

And I’m actually being serious.

That ‘nothing in particular’ race in France (the Group 2 Prix du Muget) is the best all aged mile race in France until the autumn.
I don’t think he misused the drug, as far as I’m aware he just used it…. :boat:
Maybe he was getting ready for an alternative career on Le Tour… :coolwink:
Paul, if you had a chance to go one race meeting on each continent which ones would you choose and what be the outright favourite?
Addendum: ‘if you had a chance’ err, I realise that this question would be hypothetical to most but is probably the motion of your monthly debate at the RP….

Quote: from yeats on 1:23 pm on May 22, 2007[br]I don’t blame owners and trainers for withdrawing because of the draw, why don’t Beverley show a bit of initiative and try the stalls on the stand side?
Think all horses withdrawn with a vets should be barred from running in any further races for which they’re entered.
A sensible idea.
However, I don’t think this would be popular with trainers. They go to Beverley hoping for a good draw, if they don’t get it then the horse doesn’t run. I don’t think they’d want the playing field levelled out, they’d rather have the advantage of getting the draw at some point themselves…
If Philip Robinson is English, and I can’t be bothered researching his nationality  , then he’d be in my top 10.
Quote: from stevedvg on 12:34 pm on May 22, 2007[br]It’s said that speedy horses (i.e. sprinters) develop faster than middle and longer distance horses.
So, maybe that’s why they’re expected to run against their elders?
The logic behind running 2yos in the Nunthorpe I assume.
Arc day at Longchamp is, by a distance, the best day’s racing during the flat season.
In Europe at least.
Thanks Lee
I have never thought that racing was trying to sweep this issue under the carpet, although your post does raise an interesting point…
Quote: from Leemac on 8:17 am on May 17, 2007[br]we – along with all the press – are provided with a list of official "explanations" following each race – eg horse hung left, was never travelling, unsuited by the going or course, bled, gurgled, was lame etc.
However, when a horse dies, it doesn’t come under the heading of official explanations, so we don’t always get to hear about it.
It seems that there is an official explanantion for pretty much any problem that a horse may have during a race, but if a horse dies the hymn sheet is blank.
Is the death of a horse such a taboo subject that there is no official explanation?
There is a demand (as this thread has illustrated) among racing enthusiasts to be informed about the fate of the horses in our sport. The racing post, as the sole daily publication aimed at this group, should cater for this.
I think it’s unfair to judge Winwise on their marketing material alone, this is a memo they sent to me this morning…

I tell you it’s uncanny, Winwise are so good it’s like they went 30 years into the future bought a sports almanac and returned, thanks to their flux capacitor, to make millionaires of us all.

Sporting Sam and myself are just two happy Winwise patrons.
I’m emailing on the move today, just had a wireless network setup on my 128ft yacht courtesy of yet another Winwise treble!
Quote: from InvisibleLayer on 1:18 am on May 13, 2007[br]what do courses want? a real racegoer or a coach party spending shed loads on beer?
As of Uttoxeter the disabled toilets near the parade ring are are only used by people doing the white stuff
Listening to the music of Charlie Parker is commonplace at all racecourses, though mainly at high profile summer flat meetings (Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood, York Ebor).
I’d rather have peaceful followers of LeCharles Bentley than coach trip lager louts!
The Guineas?
I think as racing enthusiasts we all want to know what happens to the animals that bring us our enjoyment.
The Racing Post should have a section on their website dedicated to this. If there was a lag of a couple of days while vets, connections etc. were consulted I don’t think anyone would mind. How much would it take for someone to refer to that Memorial site (the name of which escapes me!)?
I don’t think this is too much to ask.
