Lester Piggott,
Richard Johnson,
After racking my brain I could only think of two, that small nation Ireland seems to have a plethora of them.
The last 30 years, dont want anyone coming up with Fred Archer and Gordon Richards.

If anyone can find 10 top English jockeys, I will streak naked down the Ascot straight during the Queens parade. No danger because there hasnt been 10 top English jockeys

Thats four Yeats, is Frankie not Italian ?
Keats and Yeats are on your side, but the love of Wilde is on mine.
May 20, 2007 at 07:40 #60711I’ve been wracking my brains madman, what about Peter Scudamore, Graham Bradley, Darryll Holland and Seb Sanders. We must have nearly 10 now

Bradley stopped too many horses, so he is omitted, Scudamore "maybe" get out in front on Pipe good things too easy, omitted aswell.
Darryl Holland would find trouble in an old folks home, omitted.
Sanders now thats five. 5 to go.
Of course its only my opinion !
May 20, 2007 at 08:09 #60715Any list is incomplete without Patrick Millington, Phillip Pritchard, Ann Stokell, Kristin Stubbs or David Pitcher.

May 20, 2007 at 08:25 #60716Jeff King qualifies from the last 30 years so you can’t omit him and what about that man Hanagan?

Then, get ready to get yer kit off!!!
Whatabout McCoy, Dunwoody, Dobbin???
That’s without even thinking about it ……….. give me ten seconds and I’ll come up with ten top ones!
I dunno how strong you are on geography Madman, but Norn Ireland is part of the U.K. last time I looked!
May 20, 2007 at 08:40 #60718But not part of England.
May 20, 2007 at 08:45 #60719Definitely not part of Republic of Ireland either.
Fact is, Madman, only two of the ten all-time winningmost NH riders are from "Ireland". Know who they are???
Maybe not ………… Aderian Maquire and Norman Williamson!
Now, funnily enough, I’m from Ireland but I have no problem admitting to this statistic. The top jocks are actually U.K. born and bred.
May 20, 2007 at 08:48 #60720Hmmm, yes Venusian, you’re right ………… the thread title specifies ENGLISH jocks.
Sorry. I dived in prematurely.

Even so hoof, that place usually defines its self by religion.
May 20, 2007 at 09:03 #60722How the hell can you omit Scu? I don’t give a toss if he put in a bad ride now and again, or if he just happened to be stable jockey for Pipe, he’s in the top 5 for most NH wins ever! Can you really say he wasn’t a top jockey? You’d definitely struggle to name 10 Irish that were better.
May 20, 2007 at 09:21 #60723Joe Mercer, Jimmy Lindley, Paul Cook, Paul Kellaway, Josh Gifford, Terry Biddlecombe, Stan Mellor, Richard Pitman

No need to get carried away insomniac, even I wouldn’t include him
May 20, 2007 at 09:38 #60725Fair enough Yeats !
May 20, 2007 at 10:38 #60726Does this list have to be English or is it open to any good British jockey?
If the latter then Willie Carson was quite handy.
