Thanks for those photos, Burton Port is a lovely looking horse. I he comes out of this race well he’s my choice for the Gold Cup – what a will to win, tough little fellow.

Burton Port staying sound has a great chance in the Gold Cup. Another few yards and the outcome today would have been different. So long off the track. He’s tough and wants to win. Just love watching Burton Port racing. But defo in the GC and NOT in the national

Burton Port and Diamond Harry – no comparison after today’s run. The will to win is there with one and not the other.

Zarkava, in the grand scheme of things they are not dreadful horses. But I don’t bet so we are not looking at things from the same base. I wouldn’t say that I wore rose tinted glasses anyway.

    What dreadful, dreadful horses.

That’s a bit harsh Zarkava, and not accurate. Granted some of them didn’t run a good race, but they are not dreadful. They ran with the best at Cheltenham and didn’t disgrace themselves there.

"Thisthatandother, I have repeated myself because that is what I believe, and I have not kept repeating it except when it has been in the context of replying to someone who has further commented. You have equally repeated yourself many times making your point clear, albeit you take a different view from me….I don’t have any problem with that.

You say to me that you don’t want to fall out with anyone either. Then can I suggest that you don’t make comments like "BigG, you’re full of it".

It’s not like I have taken that comment out of context, that was the only thing you wrote.

Some people have agreed with my views on Long Run, and some have not. I have not tried to persuade anyone. As I have said, this is my viewpoint, and as I have stated in my posts more than once, my viewpoint is no better or worse than someone else’s. I thought that was what a forum was for."

I repeat that I’m sorry you are offended, but from where I am you sound a bit pompous :?

Why would you say that? I’m new to this forum, I certainly don’t want to fall out with anyone, and all I have done is give my honest opinion, which is no better than your honest opinion.

I love discussing horses, I think this is an excellent forum and I have enjoyed reading many of your and others posts on here.

    That is just uncalled for.

Sorry BigG. I don’t want to fall out with anyone either, it’s just that you kept on repeating yourself as if you were going to persuade someone if you repeated yourself enough!!!!

I also think that Long Run was beaten fair and square on 2 occasions and not because of any fault on the jockey’s part – after all SWC won the King George and Gold Cup last year and I dare say he knows the horse even better this year.

This is a very interesting thread for me.

I didn’t know that Kings Theatre had died, and sorry to hear that.

My favourite NH sire is Bob Back who was pts in January last year. I was lucky enough to be able to visit him at Burgage Stud in June 2009, he had a lovely home and looked in great condition then. At the moment he has a few at the top or getting there (hopefully) in Bobs Worth, Burton Port, Boston Bob, Back in Focus. He is also the damsire of a few broodmares. He has been in the top 10 NH sires for a long time.

Big Bad Bob, a son of Bob Back is up and coming too.

I read some time ago that Nicky Henderson said he would be back some time after Christmas. I think he is back in training now.

He rode a great race on Elton Fox today, steadying up at the last hurdle nicely and sending him on for a great finish.

What’s there to say BigG, you have made your mind up.

I can’t understand why so many people are bashing Sam Waley-Cohen, he has already won a King George and a Gold Cup with Long Run.

It looked to me as if Long Run couldn’t keep up with Kauto Star, simple as. SWC was working hard on him from a long way out. It also looks to me as if KS is indeed a different horse this season. He deserves every accolade that is being given to him, KS is a legend.
