Mort, do you mean Newbay Bob? I am dismayed to hear this, what happened to him?
No, I disagree with you both, BG sent his horse to challenge several times and Poquelin couldn’t get there because MG quickened each time. If you watch the replay you will see that as clear as day. What won the race was the last jump and of course Dougie Costello wanted it as much as MG
the bbc They could have saved forty massive by beaming coverage of a spin dryer live from a launderette.
Too, too true. FOL
I didn’t mind Jeremy Kyle until he started appearing on the Morning Line. He is so up himself it is irritating, and I hope I don’t turn on the tele the next time he is a guest. Furthermore, he has nothing interesting to say about racing, Eve Johnston Haughton was much more interesting. These high profile owners are a pain in the neck. IMO
Aw, poor old Sporazene, what was wrong with him? I used to love watching him on the track. So sad to read this.
Yes, the same horse, isn’t it great that he won today. Paul Nolan seemed to have a lot of faith in him in the programme.
Well, just to repeat. When you are on a horse at that speed you don’t have a forum and video and three hours to make a decision. DC made a decision which he thought was right in an unclear situation.
I don’t think Danny Cook should be blamed for that. Have any of you lot been on a horse at that speed? Obviously not, from some of the inane comments here. The situation was a fiasco. That last comment is way ott. Danny Cook is a good jockey, he made a mistake on Our Vic, fair enough and paid the price. This incident cannot be compared with that one. Get over the bridge, at least you’re still alive to do it.
Peter Bowen – good website? You’d be lucky to even get a reply out of him or his team. I have contacte them twice and never been acknowledged.
Yes Nick, I agree with what you say but he is still at the top. He mightn’t be top top drawer, very few are. Of course Joncol is there and he should be so exciting next year too. I just think that watching his improvement has been great and you can only beat what’s running ..
Yes, I agree with you. Animal Aid should concentrate on factory farming and the practices in slaughter houses, especially the barbaric practices of killing animals in the halal and kosher manner. This to me is barbaric and not acceptable in 2010.
I absolutely can’t bear to see any horse come to grief racing, it upsets me for days. I often ask why they can’t be saved even if it means the end of their racing days and if I owned one I would do my best to save him/her just like the owner of Fondmort when he broke his pelvis. But I just love NH racing, there is nothing like the thrill it gives you when watching a race like Monet’s Garden last time out (not today) and Beef or Salmon winning the Hennessy in 2007, absolutely hair raisingly fantastic. There is no doubt that the vast majority of these horses love what they do, eg Lough Derg, to name only one. Racehorses are bred to race, hey, we have to go to work every day of the week and we don’t always like it. But we have to. A horse that doesn’t want to race doesn’t do it. Any death of a racehorse, on the gallops, in the field, wherever is a nightmare. It is not right to compare it to bullfighting.
There is no comparison. And to say stick to hurdling, many horses come to grief over hurdles, they may be smaller obstacles but the speed they are jumped over is greater. And that person who says mature people stick to flat racing, hello, loads of horses come to grief there too, George Washington, Fayr Jag ,,,,,,,
Voy Por Ustedes is another who has been around for about 5 years (at Cheltenham.
April 3, 2010 at 21:36 in reply to: Best horse to run in but never win a “major” at cheltenham.. #287374Definitely Exotic Dancer, but also Beef or Salmon, I’m sure he would have won had he not run in the Gold Cup when he was a novice, that fall must have put him off Cheltenham big time
Does nobody think that Cerium has a chance? He ran a great race last year and didn’t disgrace himself in the Gold Cup this year or last year. Has a good weight too. Cerium was a good horse when with Paul Nicholls until he burst a blood vessel and got the sack.
Only one? Beef or Salmon. If I’m allowed a few more, Thisthatandtother, Bob Back, Ouija Board, Lough Derg, Red Rocks, Voy Por Ustedes and a few more after those!
