Happy Days

Poor Nell’s Nan, she was only a five year old and had run several times at Downpatrick. She was often in the top five in her races.
For me it was Roberto Goldback falling at the last in the Punchestown Gold Cup. It is down as unseated rider, but if he had stood up that race was his without any doubt. I was SO gutted.
Another "One and you’re done" Gold Cup winner?
I really hope not. What on earth happened today? Gobsmacked.
It’s only a week or so ago that his trainer said he was the toughest horse in Ireland. Very sad. He always tried his best
Yea, I agree with all the above comments, especially about the camera work, truly dreadful. You could just about put up with the blethering of some of the presenters if there were coverage of horses in the parade ring and a bit of decent camera work so that you could follow the runners but I’m afraid to say the whole thing looked like it was directed and produced by a bunch of incompetent amateurs.
Without any doubt at all it was Bobs Worth!
Second it was Back in Focus.
Biggest disappointment was Boston Bob falling at the last and I won’t say any more about that now.
Two names spring to mind immediately when it comes to novices.
Namely Grand Crus and Peddler’s Cross who bitterly disappointed at the Festival.
For me with those two running so badly it leaves a huge doubt in my mind about just how good Bob’s Worth and SDS really are.
Bob’s Worth certainly wouldn’t get within a fence of Long Run RSA winner or not. He simply is not in the same league. A year on he could improve but in time his RSA form beating First Lieutenant may not be that much better than his 2nd to Invictus. He does stay well which was a huge asset to him at the festival but a Gold Cup horse? That I doubt very very much. I expect to see him run in the likes of the Hennessy and maybe the National in the future but he is a tad on the slow side for a Gold Cup IMO
SDS is a nice horse but his win over Champion Court doesn’t read anywhere near good enough to be thinking Gold Cup’s just yet.
Other novices such as Al Ferof, Hunt Ball, Invictus, Bog Warrior, Peddler’s Cross, Grand Crus and maybe even Flemenstar and Cue Card if they stay have as good if not better claims to Gold Cup fame.
Great prediction, so spot on!
The way I see it, nothing was going to beat Bobs Worth today. And for anybody who says Sir des Champs could do it on better ground some other race some other day – don’t think so, at least not at Cheltenham. Bobs Worth prefers better ground too. The thing is, not one of them wants to win more than he does. Oh, and Barry Geraghty rides him with total confidence and knows how he races, more than I can say for some others this week. Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!
And I don’t think that the race knocked the stuffing out of Bobs Worth either Elgransenor. He’s tougher than that.
Don’t know why W Mullins wasn’t the jockey for Boston Bob if R Walsh preferred Unioniste. Look at the ride he gave Back in Focus. Total horseman. Too late for recriminations now. It’s just a shame because a horse can take a long time to get over a fall at the end of a race
Can’t believe that. Ruby Walsh should have been on board, much better horse than Unioniste and much better suited to a track like Cheltenham. Yea, upset. Should have been a Bob Back horse winning the RSA this year again. Roberto Goldback did exactly the same thing at the last fence in the Gold Cup at Punchestown a couple of years ago.

I am just gutted to read this, so upset
Think this is due to the lack of adverts and more time spent discussing the horses, with consistent paddock coverage
One thing i hope Clare Balding brings to the channel is less waffle. She’s a superb broadcaster – very few people could have managed Willie Carson better than she couldClare was very good in the paddock for the BBC, striding around with a cameraman, pouncing on unsuspecting trainers and owners for last-minute interviews.
I hope she brings this approach to the Channel 4 coverage. It would certainly beat Francome saying: "He’s a smashing stamp of a horse. You could shave in his coat."
Or: "Last time out, he jumped from fence to fence."
I might have employed a more direct way of "managing" Willie Carson. It would probably have involved a jaw clamp, a gag and a large box.
Hilarious, Crusty Patch and so true!
Sorry should have read spec savers
You really need to get a grip No Idea! To call Davy Russell anything less than top drawer needs to go to ape savers.
