Everything is on the table currently LD73, but horses in Australia were unvaccinated and as such spread was unhindered. The key to this outbreak will be the circumstances behind why vaccinated horses are infected.
Let’s hope for localized circumstances on that score and no further cases to come forward from other yards.
Almost certainly no racing to take place this weekend I’d have thought at the very least.
Very concerned about Cheltenham right now. :-(

Mccain yard apparently. Horses from his yard sent out to numerous racecourses today mixing with runners from Henderson, Nicholls and Gordon Elliot’s yard amongst others. Fingers crossed it can be contained quickly.

Not entered Wexford, which is slightly odd as presumably the GN is on the agenda. Likely now via the Kim Muir perhaps.

The fences are Roccos only achilles heel Ginger, but if he can jump round Cheltenham he can jump round Aintree. Price is gone now though, given he can race a little off the pace and the proximity to the big day. I’m on both him and MOT already but wouldn’t go back in again at 12s. Rightful fav though no doubt.

Agreed Ruby, Thistlecrack has shown enough chinks already this season to pass him over for next year’s GC following injury. I really don’t see Yorkhill as a gold cup type though, and to my eye Neon Wolf will need at least the intermediate trip over fences to excel.

Terrific performance from Sizing John, corroborating the sub lieu formline well. Perfect decision in the end from connections as he surely would have won the CC or Ryanair too had he contested them. Softer ground would have likely brought others into the reckoning though and I wouldn’t fancy him to repeat the feat next year. At this time I would say might bite is in line for the throne, I wouldn’t fancy Yorkhill at all for this (see ryanair for that one) and I have my doubts about Douvan now transitioning his best form to Cheltenham next year. Melon may well make up to being a champion hurdle horse next year though.

Just a point here, Empire of Dirt disappointed yesterday most likely due to leaving his race behind at Leopardstown the last day. That’s a huge concern for the other runners in the Irish Gold Cup and I note is being conceived as a negative for Sizing John. However, has everyone forgotten the Kinloch Brae? Sizing was going away from Sub Lieu at the end of 2.5 miles – the same horse that was just closing down UDS in the ryanair and on the form book SJ would have comfortably won that race yesterday. That’s a far bigger boost than empires disappointment as he clearly didn’t show up. If SZ has taken his racing well enough (big if) he’s well overpriced here and I make him a 5/1 shot.

I’d say it’s a significant negative to BP that NJH opted to suppliment BD for the race. I couldn’t have him on my mind for this as his first race outside handicap company. Yanworth lacks the 2m jumping fluency and out of the principles I’d favour BD as a solid EW play.

In a race like this of so many horses with similar ratings it’s the jockey that makes the difference. Footpad and BD against the field for me.

For what it’s worth, you know I’ve enjoyed your posts for years Gord. Especially your old P+L threads irrespective of final balance while trading thousands of baht with Fist…
Ginger has made his suspicions of your verbal drivel quite clear and well documented but I think he’s missing the point.
I appreciate and applaud your clear race selections especially at Cheltenham. Even if you claimed to have 50p on Sizing John to 1000 on the machine after he wins the gold cup I don’t care, because you’ve been unwavering in your support of the veteran sky sniffer and Haydock bog bully for months.
Best of luck pal and howaay the Holly. :good:

There’s a preview held at the course organised by Cheltenham and Three Counties Racing Club.
Fills up the centaur, usually a good panel. £6 I think.

Alan King has made it clear that he thinks Yanworth may lack speed over 2m, and initially favoured the stayers over the CH.
I may be wrong, but against which yardstick was he measuring Yanworth to come to this conclusion? It may just be his opposite number today..
