I agree with max. Jamie is a terrific jock and along with chris they are blessed with the ability to gain maybe 1/2 a length extra out of a horse at the line. The criticism he receives for his drop out style is rarely (I won’t say never) justified. Not all favourates win.
His weight puts me off. Other than that runs well at aintree and is packed with the ability to travel at pace and stay. Place claims seem solid and dependent on ground and starting weights he has a real chance at the win. Others appeal more for the win though, BA may turn into a slim pickings type IMO. Shame he fell last year.
Marble you’re right. I will endeavour to add my ignorant interest to this thread as it is in fact my only real wagering interest.

gerald I adore your last post. To consider the possibility of fresh grass growth in the outcome of a horse race is beyond a skill. You sir, are an artist!

I agree kendal. BFT sounds like a free ride for the bookies to me. I thought the trainer of rambling minsters comment about the horse preferring good ground was interesting after his win this weekend. RM has won on good, G/S and soft ground. More importantly he has carried 11 stone 8 to victory over 4 miles on G/S if memory serves. If RM is coming into form carrying a projected 10 7 in the national I believe this horse is a massive danger. At 20’s still holding up he gets my money.
Well that answers that question. Denman out of the GN, RP headline.

February 8, 2009 at 21:32 in reply to: 2009 Grand National – Useful Information Thread (Maybe) #209000I believe that denman at his best would gallop the national to victory carrying top weight. However in his current form he has not got the fitness to win and his participation would throw most of my selections too far out of the handicap. If he participates I would back the current champion to repeat.

I imagine a lot of the forumites on here have as good an idea which route a horse will take as its trainer does. After Denmans run yesterday lets just hope he doesnt line up for the GN this year, as i for one can flush my whole portfolio if he does.
Good analysis Ian at this stage i think you have it about right.

Sportinglife is a useful info feed, the betfair market gives early indication if you interpret it well, other than that its the chaps on here with inside info to their respective stables.
