“The big question that everyone’s asking me now is what will I do with Jonbon and Constitution Hill. I asked Nico if he thought Constitution Hill would go any further and he said ‘no’ so we’ll be sticking to two miles…”
That’s one remote question mark gone.
Would kill the spectacle but I’d be staggered if Constitution Hill doesn’t head for the Ballymore. Not only does Nicky have the best chance in both but the lad today looks like he’d take to the step up in trip.
Done myself up like a kipper there haven’t I Jack, not sure how I missed him
All the same, Might Bite won over 2 mile 3f and it was always obvious he had a good bit of toe.The shortest trip Minella Indo’s won at is 2 mile 7f. He won an Albert Bartlett on only his third spin over obstacles. I just can’t have him on quick ish ground around here.
The argument’s made every year not to forget that this is a 3 mile assignment and that Kempton being a speed track doesn’t make it an easy 3. That’s certainly the case, although it tends to pay to side with the ‘quicker stayers’ if you like, and I wouldn’t put the Gold Cup winner in that category.
Merry Christmas all and good luck over the festive period

You’d have to go a long way back to find a winner of this that hadn’t previously won over 2 miles. Fair trend to buck that and a it’s a glaring omission from the Gold Cup winners repertoire.
Bolshoi Ballet looking like Aidan’s only runner. Interesting….
It was the same maiden at least, Jack, just shifted around on the schedule

I’ve had a bit on John Leeper for this prior to his run yesterday. If I were to focus on one from Ballydoyle though it would be on the seemingly improving Modus Operandi. Took a few goes to shake the maiden tag but did so in ruthless fashion yesterday. Bred to stay and well entered, I’d imagine he’d be better the further he goes. Wouldn’t surprise me a jot if he was the one they sent to the Queen’s Vase next month.
Probably comes slightly too soon now FF, although your last chance saloon if you’re feeling optimistic could be an entry in the Cocked Hat.
So a side point in this, not giving an opinion, just an observation…
Jim Bolger’s Flying Visit is declared here. He didn’t see a racecourse as a 2 year old until August. He then went on to race ELEVEN times at 2
not only that but on his penultimate run, he won a Group 3 over 9 furlongs. 2 weeks later he was dropped back to 6 furlongs for a nursery
What a bizarre campaign.
He’s still in the Dante, Ben
One of just two for the boys in blue.Great example of this is Ruby. Fantastic race analyst, gives you far better insight that most. I think he’s massively underused on ITV. For all that though he’s a useless tipster and wouldn’t attest to be otherwise.
“We will take it steady away and see how our mile-and-a-quarter and mile-and-a-half horses run over the next few weeks. But he’s in the Derby.”
That’s from Alex Merriam, Ben, Charlie Appleby’s assistant. I guess it’s just wait and see and hold onto your vouchers tight

2 for me here….
Irish Prophecy had the winter off and this has been the plan all season. Had a lovely tune up over hurdles last month and looks sure to give a good account of himself here.
The second at a bigger price is the fantastically named Larry. He’s 2 from 2 at Sandown and, while untried over the trip, he’s 7lbs below his last winning mark. He has questions to answer after a lengthy lay-off and a soft comeback run, but he’s worth a go at the prices.
Good luck all

Aye she looked a proper filly to me.
True Mike but when you factor in that we’ve not even got to Derby trial stage yet, for which Derab would be nicely tuned up, I’d happily take 40/1 at this stage.
If we’re looking for eery comparisons to draw, half-sister Enable also made her 3 year old reappearance at Newbury, racing keenly early on and finishing in the places.
I’d be happy with your days work FF, if perhaps not so much with your price.
Not a fan Mike?
