Entries out…….

Obviously plenty of alternative engagements for many of these, but it’s one (currently) without an entry, that really appeals at this early stage, Ramses De Teille. I’ve bet him a couple of times this year, and after running a strange race in The Becher, he shaped extremely well for the step up in trip in The Midlands National. That run was fresh off an improved run at Haydock, where he had a valid excuse for not getting closer. Having finished lame. I’m convinced he’s got a big prize in him, and I think this one fits the bill.
I thought he was perfect for The Ultima, but he didn’t get an entry. I was equally surprised to see him missing from the entries at Ayr. It makes a bit more sense now, seeing him here. The 40’s is a crazy old price, and though I’ll want to bet him to five places while he’s a price, I’ve bet him win only just now. If he’s missing from the entries for the Three Mile Handicap before The National, I’ll go in again, but for now, just want a wee bit of that 40’s.
One who does have an engagement, in The Scottish National, is Dingo Dollar. Another rejuvenated character for Sandy Thomson, and his win at Newcastle on stable debut, is worth a look. Common sense would state that he’ll head to Ayr, but Thomson often runs his staying chasers apart, and with him having the option of The Ferry Master at Ayr, I don’t think it’s out of the question that he could head here. A repeat of that run at Newcastle could see him bowl along nicely here, and would be done sight. It wouldn’t be the first time that Thomson had raided Sandown, and I can see Dingo here. Impossible to bet while he holds that entry for Ayr, but if he’s missing from the Decs at any point, I’m betting him.
Others who jump out….
Cap Du Nord – He’s disappointed a bit lately, but if he serves Ayr, I think this could suit him. Trainer may have Kitty’s Light as his main horse for this though.
Copperhead – Suffered along with several others with the yard bring badly out of form, but he fits the profile I’d look for here, and Tizzard has targetted similar types in the past.
Crosshue Boy – I really think he’s got a squeak at Ayr, and I’ve bet him, so hoping he doesn’t come here. I’d have no problem sticking with him here if he diverts.
Kitty’s Light – Very solid campaign, and this looks the plan. No surprise to see him near the head of the market.
Ok Corral – He’s surely better than we seen at Cheltenham, and he’s better judged on his Skybet Chase run. Still holds an entry for The National, but certainly interesting here.
The Young Master – Can’t believe it’s five years since he landed this, and good to see him get an entry. Nicely treated if good to go, off extended layoff. 33’s is bigger than I expected.
Valtor – On his big win at Ascot two years back, he looks a seriously well handicapped horse. Plenty of questions to answer now, but off that mark, he’s hard to dismiss, though he may just sneak in at Aintree first. 40’s looks big.
Soldier of Love and Special Prep are both big prices too, at 25’s, and 33’s, but they also hold entries for Ayr.
Early play on Ramses then, but future entries will depend when/if I top up.
As strange as it sounds, I could make a real case for Valtor, while Dingo is a definite if he doesn’t go to Ayr.
Ramses De Teille 40’s
March 31, 2021 at 23:34 #1533843Kitty’s Light is a long (loooong) term fancy of mine for the Grand National and I suspect will be a staple in these long distance handicaps for many years to come. Really caught the eye in the Badger Ale in November and I have been keeping a close eye ever since. I always like horses who are competitive in decent handicap chases at such a young age (the likes of The Young Master, Unioniste and Frodon spring to mind) and I don’t see why this isn’t a realistic scalp. Though I’ll admit I was hoping for a little bigger than 14’s.
April 3, 2021 at 12:30 #1534203Kitty’s Light is my early bet Peter, but I didn’t even get 14-1. I settled for 12-1, I think that this race is the perfect target for him.
April 9, 2021 at 23:06 #1535377Added another today, El Presente, at 33’s.
Happy to see Ramses taken out tomorrow, as this looks more suitable.
El Presente 33’s
Ramses De Teille 40’sApril 9, 2021 at 23:49 #1535402Fair few sick parrots around who have spent months building a nice mark for this, only for Nicholls to potentially run Clan Des Obeaux and whack them out of the handicap.
BUY THE SUN
April 12, 2021 at 22:57 #1536097Very risky approach here, but added Dingo Dollar here 16’s. Still every chance he could go to Ayr, which would make sense.
I’m hoping El Presente continues to get backed, as I’d probably cash most of it, to let me bet couple of others.
If Crosshue Boy ran I’d be very interested, and the more I look at Valtor, the more I like.
April 16, 2021 at 12:53 #1536745Bob, I’d be careful with that approach with El Presente, I think you could be on to the winner there. I’ve taken 12-1, you could have got me some of that 33’s haha
I’ve taken 12-1, as I think that’s a good price as it is.
April 17, 2021 at 10:02 #1536876Yeah, I’m holding off just now mate. I’ll play it by ear through the week, but first things first, really need him to declare on Monday.
With him missing Ayr, I’d be interested in Crosshue Boy if he declares on Monday.
April 18, 2021 at 14:25 #1537061I’m happy to see a lot of support for Kitty’s Light, but if Plan of Attack is in the field tomorrow, I will have another ap bet on him.
April 19, 2021 at 14:29 #1537211Enrilo 15-1 ew 5 places. In with a shout off 10 stone.
April 19, 2021 at 15:41 #1537220Took the 50’s EW on Crosshue Boy. Hopefully he’ll run, but not convinced.

April 20, 2021 at 02:31 #15372712 for me here….
Irish Prophecy had the winter off and this has been the plan all season. Had a lovely tune up over hurdles last month and looks sure to give a good account of himself here.
The second at a bigger price is the fantastically named Larry. He’s 2 from 2 at Sandown and, while untried over the trip, he’s 7lbs below his last winning mark. He has questions to answer after a lengthy lay-off and a soft comeback run, but he’s worth a go at the prices.
Good luck all
April 20, 2021 at 18:55 #1537316Clan Des Obeaux out. Goes to Punchestown instead, according to the Post.
