Istabraq – Only time I got ‘promotoed’ by a Stewards, was Bondi Beach in the Leger. And the bookmaker I was on with did indeed pay out on both FFTP Simple Verse and the promoted Bondi Beach on that occasion. SO I’d urge everyone to check. Someone like Paddy Power might even pay the first three. Rip NOTHING up folks.

I didnt get the double result with Betfair Sportsbook on this race, just the 3rd place. Looks like rules differ bookie to bookie so check your small print.
My selection was unplaced so I can be objective about the enquiry. In my opinion it is the correct decision. It was serious interference and clearly cost Kitty’s Light her chance.
It was the right decision, but Mike has been unlucky there. Betfair are like the Ted Hastings of bookmakers – to the letter of the law fella!

It was the Sports Book not the Exchange Mike had bet on Rob. Clearly the Exchange is official result and rightly so.

I can understand the result although don’t think Skelton deliberately went that way more the horse although I maybe wrong.

Thanks VtC, but not exactly comfortable with a winning result where mine was clearly third best. That said, I’ve had a sod of a week with a plethora of second places, so I’ll take it!
I am sure it was not deliberate. It was just bad luck but it did seriously compromise the other horse’s chance.
After the incident I thought the FPTP might keep it because of the winning margin but I think the stewards have got it right.
Good to see stewards are prepared to make these calls. There have been too many incidents in the past where the FPTP has got away with it. I recall one at Royal Ascot where Fran Berry riding one for Ralph Beckett caused serious interference to one of Stoutes but still kept the race. Would like to think he would lose it now.
