I’d have hoped Van Gogh could get a derby trial in but looks unlikely. Wordsworth looks a cracking bet in a year of no top notch middle distance 3yo. Very similar to serpentines profile.
May 8, 2021 at 17:59 #1540128Mickeyjp, Van Gogh ran a decent trial in guineas, if no standout horse after Dante I wouldn’t bother with Derby
May 8, 2021 at 18:49 #1540132Last throw of the dice for me i hope. Got 3 on the go which are still alive and kicking for now.
One Ruler win @ 50’s
Thought it was quite a decent run in the guineas looking back at it, not much different to Masar a few years back.
May 8, 2021 at 19:15 #1540138Got BOLSHOIL BALLETT 33/1 so hope can take Derringstown tomorrow
May 9, 2021 at 15:28 #1540200Will be backing lough derg for this and the leger off the back of that, 50s too big
May 9, 2021 at 16:28 #1540205Good luck Darren. Impressive performance that today
May 9, 2021 at 19:13 #1540236Good price there Darren
Not entirely sure what he’s beaten but did it well
Bookies certainly taking no chances
May 9, 2021 at 19:34 #1540238What I’m about to say is nothing to question the ability or potential of Bolshoi Ballet but have people really backed him into 7/4 for the Derby? I put this to you – Golden Horn, for my money the last truly decent Derby winner went off 13/8F on the day so only marginally shorter than BB is now a few weeks out, this after bolting up in a Dante. I get that its a puzzling picture and he’s the only one to throw his hat properly into the ring but I’d be staggered if he doesn’t go off bigger than 7/4 on the day.
May 9, 2021 at 19:40 #1540243Yes its a terrible price
Most likely winner, yes
7/4 shot, not a hope in hellMay 9, 2021 at 21:40 #1540266If nothing shines in the Dante then surely bb is the most likely derby winner. Ryan rode him as if he was way the best horse in the race. The usual caveat of handling Epsom but that was impressive. Quicken up really well and I imagine he’ll end up back over 10f later on in the season.
Aiden still humming and hawing over high definition running in the Dante.May 10, 2021 at 05:37 #1540290Added Bolshoi Ballet 9-4
May 10, 2021 at 19:32 #1540332Derrinstown Irish ratings
Bolshoi + 8 to 117
Fernando +6 to 104
Mac Swiney – 1 to 115
Lough Derg Unchanged @ 104May 11, 2021 at 10:35 #1540362Tommy just checked the Dante and looks like my Hurricane Lane is the only runner for the blue lads! Quite a small field now looks like 10 runners or so Aiden has pulled out a couple of his shorter priced horses
May 11, 2021 at 10:47 #1540367So a side point in this, not giving an opinion, just an observation…
Jim Bolger’s Flying Visit is declared here. He didn’t see a racecourse as a 2 year old until August. He then went on to race ELEVEN times at 2
not only that but on his penultimate run, he won a Group 3 over 9 furlongs. 2 weeks later he was dropped back to 6 furlongs for a nursery
What a bizarre campaign.
May 11, 2021 at 10:53 #1540370It does make you wonder do some of these trainers plan their horses campaigns while they’re bang on the gear on a Friday night
May 11, 2021 at 11:14 #1540377“What a bizarre campaign.”
And then after all that they chopped his knackers off
May 11, 2021 at 11:28 #1540379That really is a kick in the balls
