Bit of a shocker from Frankie
What did you expect, HDLG?
With a horse who’s pulled hard despite being held up… and yet upped in trip, he was surely always going to be dropped out to make settling easier. But that obviously means he’s a hostage to the pace in the race. Had it been a strong pace he’d have been in the right place, but they slowed it down which meant – if having any chance – Frankie needed to make an early move. Didn’t pay off, not a bad ride, just one of those things.Value Is EverythingJune 5, 2021 at 16:55 #1543899Nice one, well done Austin.
My main two were the other Godolphin runners. LOL
Great to see my local trainer having a Derby second.Value Is EverythingJune 5, 2021 at 17:04 #1543903Cheers Ginger. Good Derby…thoroughly enjoyed it.
June 5, 2021 at 17:07 #1543905Someone on here really liked the winner early doors this season. Flagged him up for a trial from memory. Tryptich perhaps? Not sure.
Regardless, hope they had some fancy prices.

June 5, 2021 at 17:17 #1543912Well done Austin with Mojo Star, I think this wont turn out to be a fluke, I
was impressed with his 2 previous runs. I nabbed the 150/1 3 places with Bet365
and the 80/1 5 places Skybet. It’s not been the best of derby meetings for me so
far so this really pulled me out of the mire
June 5, 2021 at 17:22 #1543915Charlie really does lick “His Highness Sheikh Mohammed”s sandals at every opportunity in an interview doesn’t he. Makes me cringe.

June 5, 2021 at 17:24 #1543916Ginger he asked the horse to make up ground wide on tattenham corner , regardless of what happened after it was in my eyes strange , made no difference to the result
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
June 5, 2021 at 17:25 #1543917looking at the overhead shot… if only Ben Curtis had remained straight and not allowed Kirby up that rail, BigG. Well done on the 150/1 all the same.
Value Is EverythingJune 5, 2021 at 17:27 #1543919Cheers Ginge, I needed that 1
June 5, 2021 at 17:42 #1543921Yes, it is unusual HDLG, just think given he was a hard puller at 10f dropping him out last was the obvious place to be to start with and then had to make up some ground before the pace increased… John Leeper’s best chance of winning was always if settling well off a strong pace, so can understand the ride. But also the sloppy top surface was imo all against John Leeper today; making it more difficult to accelerate… very much against those with a turn of foot. Hence Frankie again trying to make ground mid-race. Victim of circumstance rather than a bad ride imo; can understand your opinion though.
Value Is EverythingJune 5, 2021 at 17:49 #1543924So pleased for Adam Kirby. Always thought a lot of him. Such a brave move going for the rail. Interesting that the gap closed almost as soon as it appeared. Well done to all who backed him
June 5, 2021 at 17:51 #1543925Agree with that. Balls of steel slipping through there. The overhead shots were spectacular.

June 5, 2021 at 17:52 #1543926Enjoyed watching that and what a result for Adam Kirby.
June 5, 2021 at 17:53 #1543927Id agree with that ginger
The ground went against the classy types
Probably a good decision not to run mohaafeth from haggas
June 5, 2021 at 18:38 #1543941Well done Adam that’s the way to tuck it up ’em!
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysJune 5, 2021 at 19:07 #1543950Regarding Mojo Star – Hannon did similar with King Of Change not long ago taking him from winning a Nottingham novice race to being 2nd in a Guineas at 66/1 on his next start. He proved that was no fluke by going on to bag a G1 in the QE2 in the same season. Perhaps going forwards we should be paying more attention to Hannon’s outsiders on paper who haven’t had the chance to advertise their credentials at a very high level. Incidentally the Godolphin horse who beat Mojo Star at Newbury looks very smart.
June 5, 2021 at 21:23 #1543966Good point TTM, 2000 Guineas runner-up King Of Change and 1000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook were both 66/1 and now Mojo Star’s 50/1 second… May need to take note of Hannon’s rank outsiders in Classics.
