I agree Ian. The clock comparison isn’t to be taken as literally as was rammed down our throats by Brian Gleeson et al on ITV.
I also agree with Ginge and Ben, as this wasn’t the point I was trying to make specifically. The sectionals, finishing speeds etc and the forensics of the clock can be taken on merit. The overall treatment of ‘Constitution Hill won in a x seconds quicker time’ is the daft part.
Agreed also, Constitution Hill is the superior animal. None of my comment was there to in any way take away from him or his performance.
The clock has been used too much in the Supreme/CH conversation for my liking. That isn’t to crab the performance of Constitution Hill even remotely, I do believe we witnessed a superstar in the making, although the races were run completely differently.
The Supreme was run at a breakneck gallop and was never relenting, whereas the Champion Hurdle was run a lot more slowly, particularly down the back where there was a significant breather got into the leader and it stacked the field up.
Constitution Hill is a star, although to compare the merits of both races/winners entirely on their winning times isn’t quite so clear cut.
Demandrivingdouvan would be the one fellas. He was picked up in a private sale prior to the previously planned visit to the sales ring after racing on Thursday. He’s five already, so the plan has been mentioned to get a bumper run into him before the end of the season and then presumably hurdles await next term.
Big things expected though….
Creatures of habit trainers may be CAS, although unfortunately American Mike is not the jewel in the Cullentra crown.
HDLG I’m taking Cue Card over Energumene every day of the week and Sprinter laughed at him.
Really not a fan of these comparisons. Altior was a top top horse, as is Shishkin but I really don’t think either are remotely comparable to Sprinter Sacre. Simply in a league of his own at his peak.
Just a side note in case this post seems hypocritical. It’s not the comparison of horses I find tedious, it’s trying to put these Hendo horses together as if they all are of similar ability. No, Sprinter is quite simply some way clear.
Bumpedy bump.
I’ll likely end up with egg on my face but I really fancy Nube Negra. Reckon there’ll be a fair bit of zip in the ground by Wednesday and that could find Shishkin run off his feet. That and a combination of a tough race at Ascot could find him and Energumene out. Chacun Pour Soi’s not one I’d ever take to over here, but the Skelton horse comes here fresh and is always rock solid at Cheltenham.
The Jamie Codd hokey cokey with Braeside really threw me but now he’s confirmed on Run Wild Fred I really can’t see him getting beat.
I’m also on Heaven Help Us but really don’t like the idea of Stormy Ireland getting in the way up front.
Just the shortlist of Frodon, Fantastikas, Ben Dundee, Oscar Elite, Gericault Roque, Does He Know and Tea Clipper for me. Nice and easy then

True enough though I much rather this to small fields.
Market’s seemingly against it although I have a sneaky suspicion School Boy Hours could turn up here. Derek O’Connor’s not mentioned him as a possible Kim Muir ride, for which he’s currently a much shorter price than in this.
Could this be a JP raid?
Excellent stuff everyone
keep them coming. The more the merrier.I find it interesting that Patrick, the stable’s number 2 jockey on paper, is all but confirmed to ride Kilcruit. Wouldn’t that be a massive pointer to the fact that only one of Sir Gerhard and Dysart Dynamo will run here (the former imo).
You’re right Jack, he did mention him aye. He didn’t seem keen to put him above Facile Vega though. When questioned by Nick Luck if the favourite was far superior to the rest at Closutton, Patrick said ‘Redemption Day is up there with him…he’d have to be in the conversation.’
If we’re treating the Coddfather’s word as gospel (if) then there would be a fair lick of difference between the two statements.
Jamie Codd causing disarray at the ATR Preview Night….
“When Patrick Mullins got off Facile Vega at Leopardstown I spoke to him as he was walking back in and I said, wow, that was brilliant. He said they had a better one at home in Redemption Day.”
Bit of 20/1 still knocking about for Ben Dundee Bobby and I’ve joined you.
I’m never thrilled about backing a 10 year old around here, albeit it seems to matter less outside of grade ones (see last years winner of this). No one seems to have jumped on the Paddy Power form yet though and I think it’s because the first 2 home haven’t run since.
Death Duty and Birchdale were back in 5th and 6th that day though and have more than have held it up their end since. The 3rd home, Enjoy D’allen is now disputing favouritism for the National.
I would have been looking at School Boy Hours too although Noel Meade said after the Paddy Power win he was likely to go straight to Aintree or (much more likely now) Fairyhouse for one of the Nationals.
Ben Dundee one of the rare ones not to be raised by the UK handicapper from his Irish mark. Definitely some juice in that 20/1 for a horse who’s ran well at festivals gone by
