Not a race that I bother with too much, but occasionally have an Antepost.
Last years winner Put The Kettle On looks ok at 14’s. I think Sundays Shloer Chase will be a different proposition to last year, however win or lose, and providing there’s no setbacks through the year, she’s unlikely to be anywhere near this price. On the verge of betting her.
The one I have bet is Envoi Allen at 16’s. Loads can go wrong between now and then, but outside chance that owners will re-route him down this road, with Allaho and A Plus Tard for the other races. Very risky, as I’m aware that they do actually run two in the one race, and although he’s not screaming out to go down in trip, I think he’d handle it.
As I said, more than risky, but I thought I’d throw a few pounds his way
Envoi Allen 16’s
Put The Kettle OnNovember 9, 2021 at 20:27 #1566999I got 2 in this atm…
Shishkin 8-1 Arkle/QMCC. Chacun Pour Soi 17-2 but that’s as backup more than anything. They are due to meet in the Tingle Creek which should tell me a bit more.
November 14, 2021 at 10:57 #1567509Rouge Vif at 66s ew is my first bet here. Probably ground dependent but has good course form.
November 16, 2021 at 09:52 #1567788Shishkin was my jackpot horse last year and again this year.
Betway messed up a bit before last years Arkle and didn’t alter the 8/1 on the double for this year when the Mullins horse was pulled they kept the 8/1 so I hammered it
Nube Negra is an interesting one. Think he could be a little underrated
As long as there is pace everything points to Shishkin. A slower run race and he may be in troubleGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 16, 2021 at 10:54 #1567791Nuba Negra is an admirable horse and the way Skelton’s horses have been running and Nubra’s decent record fresh he would’ve been A1 in the Schloer imo. However, I reckon that an A1 Shishkin, and perhaps Energumene and CPS as well, Politologue wouldn’t have been as close to them at the finish, and of course PTKO didn’t run too well.
November 16, 2021 at 17:33 #1567823Shiskin is technically still just a hype horse at this stage
Hes not beaten anything really
And hea going to be coming up against chacun, energumene and nube negra
He is the worst priced ante post horse in the Cheltenham markets at 6/4
Do I think hes the likeliest winner, yes
But he’s a terrible price
November 16, 2021 at 18:01 #1567827Mike, you got 8/1 for Shiskin for the QMCC ?
November 16, 2021 at 18:27 #1567832He was 8’s for the Arkle and QMCC double.
I’ve got pieces at 33’s, 12’s
Even had one bet at 100/1 Arkle plus QMCC but that included Envoi Allen needing to win his Festival race last year…
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 16, 2021 at 19:32 #1567839Yes i have 8s the Arkle and QMCC double BigG.
November 16, 2021 at 19:54 #1567842Ah, with you now Mike, very best of luck with your bet
November 16, 2021 at 22:32 #1567850Been arguing this point for a while FF, im partially biased as im a big fan of CPS, but in theory, if CPS replicates his best form round cheltenham, which i believe he will nto, then Shishkin has to run to 177 in open company,
He hasnt ran in open company yet atall is the issue with the price….
He is absolutely a 170+ horse on evidence but the difference between 170 & 177 is astronomical at this upper level, energumene still could be every bit as good…
In no world should he be 6/4 this far out with the highest rated horse in training behind him, who ran to 177 on his last outing, with the potential in behind him again in energumene..
Id lay shishkin at 6/4 this far out, on the day if thats his price then fair enough, as hed have come through the trials by that point, i dont think id complain too much
November 16, 2021 at 23:15 #1567853Bear in mind ham that CPS is 9 coming up 10 so he may not run to the numbers you mention this time around.
November 17, 2021 at 14:45 #1567905Hendersons record in this race over the last 10 years is pretty good. Both Altior and Sprinter taking in the Supreme and Arkle previously too on the way. Shishkin looks tailor made for this race as they usually go Championship pace.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 17, 2021 at 21:57 #1567930I dont think anyone is saying he doesnt have a great chance of winning
But 6/4 this far out, not a hope in hell is that a good price
Wouldnt even put that price in Multis its so bad
November 18, 2021 at 20:28 #1567992I’m struggling with this argument , Shiskin is a hype horse despite winning a Arkle yet we are using CPS as a yardstick despite him being beaten in a Champion , Shiskin has had 1 race in his life , the rest he,s won with ease , it’s unlikely we,be seen the best of him yet , CPS has likely run his best race , personally I didn’t think he got up the hill and I’d be happy to take him on there , some horses just don’t perform there , Beef and Salmon was a superstar in Ireland , he hated Cheltenham
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 18, 2021 at 22:19 #1567998Shishkin 8-1 Arkle/QMCC.
Mike, how come on the 12th March last year, he wasn’t included in your Portfolio?
Not saying you didn’t do it, but don’t understand why you put it up now, and not then?
