Couldn’t find anything else to use my sky free bets on so have taken a speculative swing at American mike at 16/1 for Gordon (20s is available elsewhere)
The Morans paid a good deal for him and Gordon has confirmed bumpers is the plan, he is declared at Down Royal Friday and Saturday id quite like him to run in the race Ser Gerhard won on the Saturday
Obviously this is very speculative as this is a notoriously difficult ante post race
October 28, 2021 at 10:35 #1564862American mike declared in the bumper ser gerhard won last year with Jamie codd aboard
Positive sign
October 28, 2021 at 10:52 #1564865I have a speculative one for this as well for now. Grangeclare West 13-1.
October 28, 2021 at 12:34 #1564880I thought i read/heard he was going hurdling but I may be mistaken and confusing him with another horse
October 28, 2021 at 12:58 #1564881Classic Getaway is one of theirs where I read somewhere was going hurdling after his bumper win. Cheveley Park have got Sir Gerhard, Classic Getaway and Grangeclare West. I figured maybe one of the latter two could stay in bumpers.
October 28, 2021 at 13:08 #1564883Almost certain I read he was going hurdling too but it’s Mullins so all could change

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 30, 2021 at 11:09 #1565216While Classic Getaway and Grangeclare West won bumpers at the end of last season and are quite high in the betting for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, I’d imagine both horses will go novice hurdling at their age. Grangeclare West looked very impressive when winning at Punchestown and he shows plenty at home so I imagine he will be going the shorter route. He could be a Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle horse.
Cash out while you can mike
October 30, 2021 at 11:49 #1565231Have done. Just read the article. Ta.
October 30, 2021 at 16:43 #1565372Perfect start for American Mike
Acid test will be next time
October 30, 2021 at 16:57 #1565381Wasn’t The Mediator just as impressive yesterday for the stable
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 30, 2021 at 17:05 #1565388Perfect start for American Mike
He looked very good in the flesh too. He had a little look at the crowd on the run in but could have won by further if asked.
October 30, 2021 at 17:31 #1565395Elliott mopping up whilst Mullins readies his battalion.
October 30, 2021 at 17:54 #1565402Elliot runs his good ones in the saturday one HDLG
Hes a creature of habit
October 31, 2021 at 17:42 #1565618I wouldn’t be going mad on American yet , he may be the better horse but from a value point of view at this point I’d go with the mediator , very early days though
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 2, 2021 at 23:47 #1566017“But the most impressive winning performance on the clock came in the concluding bumper from American Mike, who ran 6.8s (about half a furlong) quicker than did Eskylane, and much more than that quicker than those other two hurdle winners. And he did it by running faster late on than any of those other winners also.
Jumping hurdles slows down a horse, but by a fairly predictable amount per obstacle. After that has been allowed for, American Mike’s time performance is still the best of the quartet and a notably good one for a bumper performer.
None of that factors in that American Mike won with his head in his chest and yet produced an effort that would have seen him placed in the latest Champion Bumper at Cheltenham judged on race standards.
If the above message sounds uncannily familiar, then it might be because Sir Gerhard did something very similar in the same Down Royal bumper this time last year, before ultimately winning at Cheltenham, for which he was 6/1 in the betting at the time.
American Mike is a point or two longer at the time of writing, and I have played up some of the Sir Gerhard winnings on him ante-post. There is much water to flow under the bridge between now and March. But there will not be many better bumper performances on the clock in the interim, of that I am sure.”
November 29, 2021 at 10:00 #1569777Facile Vega 22-1. For now, see how it goes. One of Willie’s.
November 29, 2021 at 21:21 #1569918The grapevine is suggesting he could be good Mike
Go on Twitter and watch the video of jess Stafford interviewing willie Mullins
she asked him for a horse to follow and he said they had an unnamed horse by walk in the park out of quevega that would and I quote “take the eye out of your head” on the gallops
obviously being good in your work and good on the track are different but given connections there are worse 20/1 shots
I believe Patrick had also mentioned the horse earlier in the year too
Taken 20/1
