“As Jane Mangan just said they run bumpers on heavy ground where it has rained all day without any issues so this seems rather silly.”

Jane Mangan was on good form all day. Good to see a pundit who is opinionated. Maybe I am imagining it but I sensed a bit of tension between her and Nick Luck throughout the day, as if she did not have much regard for what he was saying.

I like Jane Mangan. She is like a female Ruby Walsh.

Her twitter description says “Chocolate addict and tea drinker. Known to have own opinion.”

She was the break out star of RTV’s Cheltenham coverage two years ago and has been very good since. Not sure if she has ever been on ITV but maybe she is a little too opinionated for their beige coverage.

She was right to say the delay before the bumper because of “standing water” was unnecessary. It would not even have been considered in Ireland. I can recall seeing a whole meeting go ahead at Thurles last year where they were literally splashing through water up the home straight!

Interesting point about Mangan and Luck, CAS. Her forthright, opinionated style is about as diametrically opposed to his anodyne drivel as you can get.

Yes, I think that difference in style is what caused the slightly tense atmosphere Glad. It was noticeably different the day before when Luck’s guests were Jonathan Neesom and Dan Barber and they were just like a group of silly blokes having a laugh together.

Jane Mangan has been a guest on Nick Luck’s podcast several times so I do not suppose they dislike each other but I certainly preferred the punditry with a bit of an edge yesterday instead of Tuesday’s offering.

It is a pity Lydia Hislop is reduced to the role of interviewer. I would prefer to see her doing the main presenter role and Luck doing the interviews.
