queens 90they IMO tried to set up their own racing industry, creating another world of racing in the hope they would take over from Europe and America as the fore-bearer of horse racing.
vast amounts of prize money and the best facilities anyone could offer is available and many take up the offer of running their horses at Dubai but it is just for the prize money, a Derby or Breeders winner will always rank above any Dubai cup in history and nostalgia.
You can buy many things but not history.Very good point and I totally agree I’ve posted before about Godolphin’s egotistical Dubai World Cup meeting, created for their own interests and to change the face of racing.
Like most things Godolphin its had a modicum of success but in reality it doesnt rank anywhere amongst most racing fans in the street, no one cares about racinbg in Dubai. Yes there will be some hardcore followers some of whom post on this forum but its never going to take off and capture the publics imagination whatevr they try and do. I pay no attention to it whatsoever.
Its like Coolmore creating a World Cup meeting it just isn’t right.
No one is bigger than the sport and owners whoever they are shouldn’t be trying to run it in any way shape or form though how you stop Sheikh Mohammed in Dubai I really don’t know.
The reason why many punters over here are not as interested in the World Cup is because it is on Dirt and not always as competitive as British punters like. Sheikh Mo and other Muslims are not punters, they are not interested in betting, so are not as interested as us in having competitive racing. Being more interested having the best horses in the world competing.
With winners Cigar, Singspeil, Dubai Millenium, Curlin etc. etc. it has done just that. How you can not think the World Cup has not been a great success is crazy. If there was no or little racing in Ireland then Coolmore would undoubtedly want to do a similar thing. As there is already top class racing there, there is no point.
Your opinions on Sheikh Mohammed are inconsistant (with others doing exactly the same buying up top prospects without your criticism). Of course he buys up more than any other owner, he has more money than any other owner. Your reasons are stupid and not thought out. Your attacks on the man are distasteful and disgraceful.
Ginge
Ginge my opinions are not ante Arab and i will be the first to admit without their involvement in racing it would be poorer for it.
The money is irrelevant for them and they can do just about what they like in racing terms and this is my point.
to them UK racing is not good enough so they have decided to create their own industry to suit them but they know they need worldwide competition to give it any credibility.
What if they decided to race only in Dubai only for Arab owners as they could do, how much interest would that hold.
They need Europe and to a lesser extent America for any worldwide audience.
The only way is prize money if they offered a gold cup and the prestige of the winner being called the best in the world but no prize money, all you would have is Arab owned horses.
Derby,Arc,King George against Dubai world cup is like Champions League against world club cup.
Another point could be argued if a Russian decided to do the same thing would you defend him like you defend the Arabs when he sets up an even bigger eastern Europe racing festival with double the prize money.they IMO tried to set up their own racing industry, creating another world of racing in the hope they would take over from Europe and America as the fore-bearer of horse racing.

You can buy many things but not history.it looked pretty impressive and the best we have seen so far.
but this is the problem we look for a horse to do this and as at this moment we have found one, but do we take it at face value a impressive winner of a weak trial who should run well in the guiness or a horse destined for top honours this season.
without more trials we are just guessing.yeats, venusian respect your views and understand your stance.
i thought it was interesting from her non racing point of view, especially the point that most horses spend most of the day in their box which is if you think about it is like bing in jail with two exercise periods.turko

kelamikauto reminded me of a heavyweight world champion jumping back into the ring to early after losing his crown and going down to an inferior opponent on points.
my view is he will come back and possibly regain his no1 status next season with a lesser campaign.
just a thought 7/1 may be a massive price come next March due to the fact this horse is pretty sound and all being fair will make the line up.On my early evening stroll last night I thought if Kauto Star is 1/2 or less he starts to look like a cracking good bet. At 4/6 it seems too good to be true.
agree totally 1/2 or 2/5 was my prediction so took 8/11 last night and could of got 4/5 this morning.
stands up it winsI think you have to be a certain type of person to have the patience to study form and wait for the value price, to be a pro. I enjoy studying form and pitting my wits against the other exchange players or bookmakers.
agree that i get more satisfaction when putting in the study and time and collecting afterwards also if my selection does get beat i feel i have still found the correct horse and do not blame myself.
great post
this has more of an advice line than pro punter feel about it and some brilliant rules and plans to follow
i am your basic punter who enjoys having a punt on almost everything
finding it hard to watch any sporting event without some kind of betting interest.for 22 years i have kept records of every single bet and can tell you last year due mainly to a £4,000 payout for £60 stake was my only winning year.
ok before you start shouting mug etc overall loss in them 22 years is £33,000 which is around £1,500 a year that is every single bet which can total to £40,000 laid out per year.
it sounds alot but when you keep a record you will be surprised.
now back to the topic, each year i have made a profit when taking a professional view of group 1 and group 2 flat races 3yo + spending around 1-2 hours per race using a computer and speed and official ratings.
the point i am trying to make if you have the decipline and dedecation
consentrating on one type you properly will make a go of it.
but for me i enjoy gambling too much to take it that seriously.brilliant trainer who’s horses run to form more than any other trainer and honest views set him apart from the rest.
If you were counting your cash after the second last, you could say that your judgement is as bad as Carberry’s then.
agree but two wrongs don’t make a right
Agreed. The horse should’ve been put in the race sooner he was given too much to do. Ran on really well just didn’t have enough chance to reel the winner in.
Not a fan of Carberry if I’m honest.
with stamina not a problem it looked like showboating to me
