started to count winnings after 2nd last
could not believe the lack of judgement he showedMarch 14, 2008 at 18:54 #151113Agreed. The horse should’ve been put in the race sooner he was given too much to do. Ran on really well just didn’t have enough chance to reel the winner in.
Not a fan of Carberry if I’m honest.

with stamina not a problem it looked like showboating to me
March 14, 2008 at 18:58 #151117Abysmal and his childish arrogance never seems to change does it?

Because he misjudged the ride on Psycho? Or do you have any other examples Clive?

March 14, 2008 at 19:37 #151145If you were counting your cash after the second last, you could say that your judgement is as bad as Carberry’s then.
March 14, 2008 at 19:47 #151155Carberry once had the top job in racing – Odgen’s private jockey.
Now he doesn’t.
Today showed why.
Perhaps its because he has the top job in Ireland where he wants to be.

March 14, 2008 at 19:49 #151157In terms of his general behaviour, you want to sit next to him on an aircraft
March 14, 2008 at 20:04 #151165I thought we were discussing his riding ability.

March 14, 2008 at 20:16 #151171Yes I am, I think Carberry is happy to ride in Ireland and be retained by the top trainer in Ireland. I think Carberry is happier to be in Ireland rather than live in the UK, thats just my view. You should watch Psycho’s previous run in Leopardstown when he hit the front to early and capitulated at the last, I think Carberry was trying not to hit the front too early and thought everything would stop in front.
As for his showboating in Cheltenham 05, you are now being ridiculous, I would say Harchibald is one of the most frustrating rides in NH, he doesn’t do a tap in front as he displayed in subsequent races.

March 14, 2008 at 20:50 #151184You could see him taking a pull approaching the 2nd last when he must have had ten lengths to make up. I agree it was complete showboating – and he [and more importantly thousands of punters] has come unstuck because of it. It was a shocker of a ride.
March 14, 2008 at 20:56 #151187I’m a Paul Carberry fan but it is very difficult to explain that ride.

March 14, 2008 at 20:57 #151190Carrberry can be brilliant…..Crack Away Jack………you would think he had an evil twin…….worst ride of the festival IMO
March 14, 2008 at 21:08 #151198Absolutely awful from Carberry. As bad as it gets and not the first time either. Connections must be gutted given what happened at Leopardstown the last time.
March 14, 2008 at 21:27 #151211If you were counting your cash after the second last, you could say that your judgement is as bad as Carberry’s then.
agree but two wrongs don’t make a right
March 14, 2008 at 21:47 #151227I agree with johnjdonoghue regarding Carberry. Having seen and read numerous of his interviews, he’s much happier going racing 3 times a week rather than every day.
March 14, 2008 at 22:58 #151288It was undoubatably a very poor ride- Carberry is a mercurial jockey who is extremely arrogant in the saddle, and with this you get great rides- like Crack Away Jack- and bad rides like Psycho.
