Crusty – As hard as I try, I can’t think how John Hunt could have improved on his effort in

    that

    3 runner ‘race’ at Docaster.

It’s just really odd criticism IMO. I mean, what was there to articulate apart from a few jumping errors that were all spotted; the third horse tailing off and the winner coming clear on the bridle?

If you can find fault in

    that

, then I doubt there’s much right in your world fella. Bizarre.

Yep, it’s by far the worst ever.

Excruciating to see the ‘judges’ big them up after yet another tone death perfomance. It’s not their fault though – they’re just acting to script. The way they’d fawn over Janet Devlin, for example, knowing full well she’s useless had me dive for the mute button.

The whole thing has the feel of a doomed channel five show this year. Cowell knows.

When aussie Jim say’s a horse is "ooh, ten lengths clear"

Meaningless. Could be anything from 2 to half the track.

It took me ages to work out that he was presumably using rhyming slang for "glue", ie the glue on the saddle or jockey’s breeches has stopped the rider falling off. He did once very helpfully say "Another victory for the glue".

He was refering to the real thing! Stank of bananas if memory serves.

I backed Cue to Cue, Stilv, and all I can say after watching the race a few times is she was simply out-stayed by the Sue Smith horse.

Came there looking like she was really going to get involved and was 4L behind at the third last, only for the gap to increase to 6 and 14 at the line.

I’m also not sure if this particular ‘Kings Theatre’ appreciated the softer going than she encountered a couple of weeks back. I stayed loyal to her and backed her on the strength that I thought she’d improve for it!

It’s anything but, Rummy. His original post makes it clear enough.

    Quality bump, that.

26% of whatever were happy to see it banned altogether!

Apart from fact that Bobs Worth is a tough horse who wants to win, Barry Geraghty gave him a superb ride today, no doubt about it.

Apart from making sure he got over the fences safely, I never thought Geraghty had to be particulary clever to win the race. CC pulled hard early and came back to the superior stayer IMO. I suppose all winning rides are great rides though, eh?! I’d have thought so if I was on!

I would have to disagree slightly and say rather than a good ride from Geraghty it was a poor one from Tizzard.
I think any one of the top 5 jockeys would have won on Cue Card today.
But that is just my opinion.

That’s interesting. I had CC in a double with another horse that won, and I can’t honestly say I noticed Joe do anything wrong (as much as I’d probably like to!).

In hindsight, he could have possibly tucked him away and played his cards later, but I was happy to see him bowl along – not disappointing the horse this time – at just an even pace. He pulled early again which played into the winners hands and the mistake was horse error, in an otherwise very good round of jumping under Joe.

What would you have expected any other Jockey to do differently, bearing in mind riding orders were 99.9% likely to be to make the running?

Onthesteal, I’m no fan of Pinza, in fact I don’t know him from Adam. However I think he does have the right to argue whatever he’s passionate about.

Fair enough, Rummy. Just glad you weren’t offended, as it wasn’t what I intended and never thought it’d come across that way either… Copped the customary

    one in the neck

from the forum wasp for my pains, regardless, so we’ll leave it there!

Correct decision. The horse is a liability to punters and a danger to jockeys. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for him to come out a stall on the flat either, should connections decide to keep him going.

He can keep that fiver too! Gawd bless the swine. :D

Red Rum – Get a life!.

If you miss the bloke, you’ll find him on twitter and his blog, apparently, that he hastily created specially for people like you. Better than the samaritans, eh?

If you find any cracks or holes around heating pipes that the mice may be using as walkways, or any holes big enough for them to get through, plug them with wire wool – they HATE the stuff with a passion and wont go near it once they’ve sampled it. They’ll soon bugger off.

I think high time this was locked or deleted. It’s served it’s purpose now.

It’s possible prominent runners have a slight "advantage" over all, but only slight.

I wouldn’t even go that far, Ginge.

Is it not more likely that a front runner stands more chance of idling or getting tired, making a few more cracks of the whip more useful to those types, as opposed to hold up horses? I think that makes far more sense, personally.

I’ve not changed my approach to how I bet one bit, yet I’m on hot streak if I may say so. I’ll probably notice how many fewer cracks they’re allowed once my luck takes a turn, no doubt :D: … Luck helps, of course.

Try having a bet on it, Pleni – it could make it more interesting.

I wouldn’t stress, Pleni… If you like taking a chance on yaks like Overton Lad, there should be some juicy prices to be snaffled, reflecting their chances of victory under the new rules. Do them E/W
