Obviously he doesn’t fall off everything!

He’s probably better in long distance races where speed is reduced and there’s more time to decide long or short.

Carrick Hill Lad trained by G W Richards would have won the Gold Cup for me if he hadn’t gone wrong coming down the hill to the home straight.
I also remember being at Ayr one day when he cleared the last with feet to spare like Fondmort did at Cheltenham.

Jumping’s the name of the game and you’d struggle to see a better round of jumping than that by DH .Apart from the 3rd last and last (which he was clever at for a big horse) he jumped every fence immaculately.

Over hurdles he was a few pounds below the best and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be the same over fences, as well as the likelihood of good ground at Chelters ,i’d like to see him take in a level weights race first.

Really happy for the horse and the connections of this horse.

Was at Uttoxeter when he won his first 2m Nov Hurdle and he looked real quality that day and was one for the notebook straight away.

Dont think Cheltenham will suit him so maybe the Irish Hennessy or Aintree and Punchestown will suit him for his main target.

That’s where i first saw him ,i remember he was hampered by a loose horse in the straight then when he got clear he just took off . With his physique as well i knew he was a bit special and am so pleased i stuck with him . Also pleased for the Nick Williams team who are a great outfit.

Exciting times ahead for the winner and second, and i haven’t given up hope with Weird Al who might turn out to be a Ryanair horse because he looked like a non-stayer.

That’s awful news.. he was a proper horse the way he powered through soft ground and made the Cheltenham hill look non existent. He jumped superbly until just getting a bit close to the downhill fence yesterday…tragic.

After Me Voici sadly died that’s two in recent weeks that could have been top class for years. It’s bad enough just seeing these horses on the box, but you feel for the people close to them, especially the smaller oufits who think they’ve finally got that goodun.

I’d love to see Restless Harry win at the festival for his connections.

How about Perion – Geoff Lewis’ sprinter who went on to win Group Ones?

I backed him each way in the Gold Cup last year and he ran a shocker, never travelling or jumping. I thought he maybe doesn’t like Cheltenham but he’s won there so that theory doesn’t stick.
As i commented on another thread, he jumped and travelled as well as any horse i’ve ever seen at Wetherby and having backed Nacarat i thought it was game over turning for home, but then Calgary Bay suddenly came under pressure and dropped away/stopped dead.
Today two out they showed a rear view and he had his head on one side, temperament or hating the ground? either way he did battle on to the line .
Verdict – he’s an enigma. Very talented, must have quick ground,a left hand track and until he runs a shocker over two and a half miles i would guess that’s his best trip ,maybe.

I must be missing the point … it’s ok schooling in public when you’re going to win surely.

I’d rather have Frost, McCoy in a chase is a negative for me. Did you see the way Calgary Bay jumped for Frost on Saturday?
What is it with that horse, he looked like Best Mate down the back then looked like a selling plater up the straight.

I was on Bouggler but because he lost 2nd, there was no way the result of the race was ever going to change. Whether people like the rules or not, there is no way you can say the result was definitely affected by what happened and why should Kayf Aramis be given a race when at best he was a lucky 2nd anyway.

That’s a good point but how can you say when a result has definitely been affected. The only instance i can think of would be if horse a) was finishing faster than horse b) ahead of it and horse b) hampered horse a), but how far up the run-in would they have to be?

What did anyone think about the Tamarinbleu race yesterday? He was definitely gaining on the leader who crossed to the rail. IMO there was a good chance he would have won and the leader broke the rules by not keeping straight and not being clear when crossing to the rail = demotion to 2nd

How can anyone say he was beaten at the time? Maybe he wasn’t 20 lengths clear but it’s not like AP had thrown the kitchen sink at him with no response, Denman gets better the longer the race goes on .

So the horse was never on the M6 to Haydock? so how was that it’s 1st preference?

I think he’s a better horse on goodish going anyway.

Poor ride, but a great one by Walsh made easier by the blunder.

He was going like a winner — in my opinion! — at Cheltenham in the Cleeve Hurdle, then didn’t get up the hill.

The only other option at the Festival is the Pertemps final and his rating means he’d have top weight as well as the hill to cope with.

According to the jockey at Haydock, he does stay three miles, but he said possibly not at Cheltenham, so Aintree’s flat track should suit him better.

If he doesn’t go novice chasing next season, maybe he’ll develop a bit more stamina and the World Hurdle will be on the agenda. I’m sure Emma (Lavelle) is thinking about next year already.

Quite honestly, he’s done so much more than we ever dreamed that anything else is a bonus.

That was my opinion when i placed my bet on him yesterday. All the best with him , he seems a really genuine horse . I hope he stays sound for many seasons to come.

You don’t answer the question though Yeats. Should a horse that has prevented another from winning be allowed to keep the race?

And Souffleur did because by hitting the rail, snatching up or hitting the rail then snatching up Bouggler couldn’t win. You can’t ask many horses to slow down, change direction then quicken past a horse in full stride.

If common sense and fairness prevailed the amended result would and should have been:
    1st Kayf Aramis
    2nd Bouggler
    3rd Souffleur

I’ve still lost my money but that’s the only fair outcome. Otherwise it’s like somebody scoring a goal when they’re offside and saying "well he would’ve scored anyway and it didn’t affect the result!"

On yesterday’s display, mistakes or not, Denman has a mountain to climb to beat Kauto Star.

He needs to turn up at Cheltenham a different horse (Arkle would be good) to trouble KS, although I wouldn’t give up hope that he might.

His awesome win in the Hennessy was only a couple of months ago. Put a jockey on who suits the horse and primed for the occasion and you’ll see the tank back with all guns blazing.

A lot of you are on about Denman being unfit but that’s not why he made the initial mistake. He should have been fit enough to win maybe 10 lengths instead of 20 and whose to say he wouldn’t have. IMO the reason he made the mistake is because the jockey nudged him at the fence for a long one then changed his mind..simple as.

They may well have gone quicker in the Hennessy and Niche Market couldn’t live with that pace, hence the different margins between the two.
