On a slightly off-topic note, is there a free online site where one can swiftly check on recent auctions/sales out of sellers/claimers? RP online used to have details but these seem to have been dropped.
November 25, 2010 at 09:42 #329766How about Perion – Geoff Lewis’ sprinter who went on to win Group Ones?

You can check in the small print under the result of each race on the RP site which will tell you whether the winner was sold or bought in and the price and will also tell you whether any horse was claimed. It also gives the name of the purchaser.
Example from this week:

Thank you Tuffers. Looks as if they’re still doing it, for sellers at least. I wondered, though, whether there’s a centrally accessible source dedicated to this particular information.
November 25, 2010 at 14:01 #329804Royal Derbi springs to mind.
Won a seller at Windsor on the Flat as a three-year-old and went on to be a high-class hurdler over the following years.

I’d love it if there was, too. It would certainly make it handy to have a go-to list to check the recent acquisitions via these races of, say, the Jim Bests and Alison Thorpes of this world – for every Marino Prince I spotted in good enough time, there have doubtless been dozens I didn’t. Meh.

Quite! It would make interesting and potentially remunerative reading….
November 25, 2010 at 21:43 #329911I think Red Rum dead-heated for a two-year-old seller at Liverpool.
FWIW,ridden, I think, by L K Piggott.
Actually he was ridden by Paul Cook that day (although Lester Piggott rode him another time) and Tim Moloney had to pay 300 guineas to buy him back. Curlicue, who he dead heated with, was also bred by Martyn McEnery and was originally sold only 2 lots after Red Rum at Goffs.

I’d love a centrally located database telling me what Jim Best is feeding ’em, tbh
November 26, 2010 at 11:41 #329963Clumsy yet talented
Redemption
enjoyed a few canters in sellers to round off his career recently.
November 27, 2010 at 19:33 #330208I’m not sure if it was a seller, but if it was, I think this would take quite a bit of beating. 2008 Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire reappeared today in a £5,000 Handicap at Turffontein in South Africa, now under the care of Mike de Kock having left Coolmore a while back. He opened at 11-2 and drifted somewhat spectacularly to 15-1 before fly jumping leaving the stalls, however was running on in the last furlong when badly hampered and finished mid division.

Sad to see a horse like that ending up running at that kind of level
(though he brought a lot upon himself by having a mind of his own) Won me a fortune the day of the Irish Derby-Think i got him at 20/1 or very near it,biggest win ever from a single bet!

Hmmm. How long before this one finds its way back to the British Isles and sent novice hurdling? Sure this has happened to one or two de Kock charges in recent memory…

Dont remind me Rory! That bloody horse only had to get a place in the Derby to ensure me a profit,i had 16/1 about him and as much as i thought Eddery gave him plenty to do to finish 4th,he just wasn"t very good, TAPK got that one wrong and to this day i question my judgement about why?
