No disrespect to Hadden Frost but McCoy got on great with Somersby at Sandown last year, doesn’t have a ride in the race but arrives for Rock Noir in the 3.05 (next race).
Why would he not be booked for a Grade 2 chase having ridden the horse before?

I’m presuming they’re keeping one eye on future races and they don’t think Mc Coy will be available to ride so are letting Hayden get to know the horse and how he rides!
November 1, 2010 at 20:05 #325791Why should he be? He’s only ridden the horse a couple of times, and he’s run well enough for several other jockeys so it doesn’t appear he’s a tricky ride.
November 1, 2010 at 20:11 #325793A jumps man will hopefully confirm but I think Hadden frost is stable jockey for the Hen this season.
November 1, 2010 at 20:18 #325796Correct David – Hadden Frost is stable jockey to Hen Knight.
AP does indeed jet in to ride the Grade 1 winner over fences

‘Tis indeed the case DJ, as the following link verifies:

November 1, 2010 at 20:23 #325799Thanks…innocent enough question. I don’t doubt Frosts ability though if I were to have a bet I’d prefer to have the 15-times champion jockey on, as most people would. If he’s stable jockey then that makes perfect sense.

No you defineately dont fall into that category reet!
November 1, 2010 at 20:50 #325812Last season I thought that Hen Knight had a surprising approach to her campaigning of Somersby. I’m sure that prior to Cheltenham she said something along the lines of ‘I won’t run him unless we can get AP on board.’
Big ride for Frost tomorrow.

If your horse isn’t fully wound up then why as Champion jockey would you put yourself in a precarious position especially when trying to grab the publics imagination.
Leave it to an amateur like Frost who can do some learning and have fun on a high class gelding knowing it can’t get home, try and perfect your timing, have a little dual if you like, race off the pace and see how much you find on a horse like Somersby instead of the old tatt you’re used to riding.

Miss Knight probably read the TRF thread on Get Me Out of Here, and preferred taking on Frost to taking the heat.

I’m sure that’s the reason. Then again, she’s never been afraid of schooling horses in public, so why would it bother her?
November 2, 2010 at 08:49 #325869I’d rather have Frost, McCoy in a chase is a negative for me. Did you see the way Calgary Bay jumped for Frost on Saturday?
What is it with that horse, he looked like Best Mate down the back then looked like a selling plater up the straight.November 2, 2010 at 09:50 #325876If your horse isn’t fully wound up then why as Champion jockey would you put yourself in a precarious position especially when trying to grab the publics imagination.

Hadden Frost isn’t an amateur, and the "tatt" he’s used to riding include a winner at the latest Cheltenham Festival.
November 2, 2010 at 10:14 #325880Hadden Forst is a very very good jockey.
November 2, 2010 at 11:19 #325895Whatever the outcome today totally agree that hadden frost deserves to be given these chances the lad is an excellent jockey and can really get horses jumping for him.

Useful bit of advice, go onto the Racing Post website and get yourself Haden Frosts page up then click big race wins – let me know what you find.
Thanks.
