Although he travelled very well yesterday I don’t think there was a great deal more in the tank and the runner up hit a couple fences. It could be that will be the only Gold Cup he will be winning though as even if he goes there fresh it could well be that he is less effective around Cheltenham. Having said that it would be interesting to see him ridden so prominently in March.
November 28, 2010 at 14:38 #330300Really happy for the horse and the connections of this horse.
Was at Uttoxeter when he won his first 2m Nov Hurdle and he looked real quality that day and was one for the notebook straight away.
Dont think Cheltenham will suit him so maybe the Irish Hennessy or Aintree and Punchestown will suit him for his main target.
November 28, 2010 at 17:26 #330315Diamond Harry is as soft as butter and the last place on earth you would want to run him is in a tough race like The Hennessy.

OPerhaps Mr Wilson would like to review his earlier contributions to this thread in the light of the above comment. Well done TAPK, by the way.

That’s where i first saw him ,i remember he was hampered by a loose horse in the straight then when he got clear he just took off . With his physique as well i knew he was a bit special and am so pleased i stuck with him . Also pleased for the Nick Williams team who are a great outfit.
Exciting times ahead for the winner and second, and i haven’t given up hope with Weird Al who might turn out to be a Ryanair horse because he looked like a non-stayer.

Very kind of you Rory, you were instrumental to the success of this thread yourself by the way!
November 29, 2010 at 22:16 #330449Can’t remember enjoying a horserace more both in the anticipation and the reality. (DH being a maximum bet on the BF thread helped) Denman carried out on his sword.
Have to wonder though if it’s coincidence that he’s (DH) underperformed at both the last 2 Festivals. I’ve got stuck into Burton Port for the big one at 20/1 (another maximum bet) as he seems to take his racing better than DH. If he can learn not to take the occasional fence home with him it’ll help- can’t believe he’ll go anywhere near the Welsh National now though.November 30, 2010 at 13:39 #330534Jumping’s the name of the game and you’d struggle to see a better round of jumping than that by DH .Apart from the 3rd last and last (which he was clever at for a big horse) he jumped every fence immaculately.
Over hurdles he was a few pounds below the best and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be the same over fences, as well as the likelihood of good ground at Chelters ,i’d like to see him take in a level weights race first.
