All in all he jumped easily and had the race won after Bensalem came to grief at the ditch.
Be interesting to see where he ends up going to though, I dont think Cheltenhams RSA chase will suit him as that can often finish off a good horse, Maybe the 2m4f and 3m1f novices events at Aintree or even Punchestown could suit him.

Only inexperience will beat him there Neill, connections should have had him novice chasing since the start of the season!
January 24, 2010 at 16:52 #271876It’s a complete myth that the RSA can finish a good horse. The ones that get finished in it, are those that get exposed for being unable to gallop and jump off a sustained strong pace.
A non-staying effort in the 2004 renewal didn’t do too much harm to the now 12-y-o Our Vic.

Who"s the Daddy there then? Bang on david!
March 22, 2010 at 22:25 #284976Diamond Harry would get in nicely, for the Hennessey Gold cup as a 2nd season Chaser if he were to jump fences now.He wont win the RSA because he hasn"t been trained for it and that will be his blessing for next season!
I must remind myself to grab any 12"s come October time!
March 23, 2010 at 00:42 #284990Diamond Harry is a horse who clearly performs excellently when fresh but just gets tired after 2 or 3 runs. Best thing they can do is run him in the Hennessy, Aon and Gold Cup. Keep his 2 previous efforts to a near-minimum on a flat track (presuming Denman runs and gives him a lenient weight to run off) and then if he gets into the top 5 in the Gold Cup they should be happy.

Diamond Harry is as soft as butter and the last place on earth you would want to run him is in a tough race like The Hennessy.
He’s fine and dandy when having things his own way against lesser oposition but the minute pressure is appled he finds nothing. The ability is there but as we saw at Cheltenham for the second time he has little to offer once pressure is applied.
He seems to go well fresh but it must be very doubtful he’ll be aimed at the Hennessy. I would think that Nick Williams, who’s a realist, has the Charlie Hall in mind for him.

Diamond Harry is still an inexperienced horse,he will have his day!I can see him getting in the Hennessey with 10-8,and the track would be ideal, trouble is i can also see Bensalem going the same route and there is not a lot between them! Charlie Hall My A**e! Why is it you always seem to think a good chaser has to start in that? ie Exotic Dancer!
March 23, 2010 at 11:17 #285037diamond harry may well have been impressive on his chasing debut at haydock but sadly the trolly fences there are very easy to jump.
he seemed to struggle once he jumped proper fences at newbury and at cheltenham.March 23, 2010 at 11:21 #285039Nick Williams is quoted as being mystified as to why Diamond Harry ran so badly at Cheltenham. Ffs his worst 4 career performances (in relation to the fields he faced) came in January, January, February and March. Not difficult to work out he needs to be fresh.

November 27, 2010 at 15:48 #330169Diamond Harry ran a superb race … though I was rooting for Denman!!!

ONovember 27, 2010 at 23:01 #330236A horse I have always liked. Was concerned when Murphy was not riding and Jacob was given the ride as he is not a jockey I like.
However credit where credit is due, he give Diamond Harry a super ride and never panicked when taken on by Denman.
A fine performance and a super race to watch.November 28, 2010 at 00:56 #330253It may not be a lot to some people on here, but I kept adding last year to him to win the RSA on Betfair with Burton Port, both would have paid around £600 (got on Burton Port at 36’s), and always like the horse.
Pleased for connections, they seemed overwhelmed by his performance today, was a joy to witness.
Alistair Down summed it up best by saying that racing was the winner today.
November 28, 2010 at 04:51 #330260Diiamond Harry ran a blinder from 4lb out of the handicap, he looked all over the winner 2 out, Burton Point runnining off the same mark as the winner made a race of it, Denman gave them both the best part of 2stone & still beat some good horses to finnish a galant 3rd! Don’t get carried away lads, level weights at Cheltenham!!!!
