Tell Massini
sadly died today at Newbury,it wasn"t the worst looking fall in the world but his neck was buried underneath him as he slid across the ground,it was one of those slow motion events but he quickly got up so relief was quick that all was fine! Unfortunately not! Sometimes you see a horse fall and your gut reaction is Oh No! On this occassion i thought Oh Yes he"s fine,it just shows you how dangerous jumping fences can be a stark reminder to myself that you just cant take things for granted at this game,i was picturing this fellow running in the 2012 Gold Cup! Not to be i"m afraid! Very sad day for all concerned!

Very sad news.
I do find it hard watching jumps at times, I never used to when I first started watching racing a few years back, I guess the more times these things happen the harder it gets.
November 25, 2010 at 16:28 #329825Yes, very sad news indeed and condolences go to owner/trainer.
As TAPK points out it appeared as though it happened in slow motion, however, my instant reaction was oh no as it looked really bad with the weight on his neck and had my head in my hands.
Very sad day.
November 25, 2010 at 16:29 #329826Heartbreaking stuff for connections as he looked a million dollars today. Was about to win by 20l and shoot up to potential gold cup rankings when this golden generation leave us.
What a very very sad day and its not often i say that.
November 25, 2010 at 16:32 #329830I know I’ve been pointing up the horse’s temperament but I never doubted his talent on the track and this is terrible news. I feel so sorry for Tom George, his yard and all the connections, they’ve been working so hard to sort out his head (I read Yarmy went with him today).

His temperament was flawless Rose,Yarmy did lead him out but he never batted an eyelid, its no good pretending wether he would have won or not at the time but i am convinced he wasn"t even out of 2nd gear, this fellow had a serious engine!
November 25, 2010 at 18:11 #329853A real tragedy for all connections, the horse only appeared to make a slight mistake at the cross fence but obviously it was a lot worse than I thought. An awful shame
November 26, 2010 at 10:16 #329950Gutted for all concerned. This is would have turned out to be a very special horse.
November 26, 2010 at 13:40 #329982That’s awful news.. he was a proper horse the way he powered through soft ground and made the Cheltenham hill look non existent. He jumped superbly until just getting a bit close to the downhill fence yesterday…tragic.
After Me Voici sadly died that’s two in recent weeks that could have been top class for years. It’s bad enough just seeing these horses on the box, but you feel for the people close to them, especially the smaller oufits who think they’ve finally got that goodun.
I’d love to see Restless Harry win at the festival for his connections.
