I think Westover was unlucky to finish third, but I doubt whether he would have beaten Desert Crown. I’ll still be keeping an eye on him, though.

Happy to take on the top two in the market with Changingoftheguard, Piz Badile and Westover.

You can never quite tell whether a horse will get Epsom or not, but I can’t help but think Luxembourg looks and feels like – although his name isn’t exactly thrilling – the sort of horse who should win the Derby or come incredibly close.

Maybe something will come up through the trials, but I think a bet on him at this stage is not the most foolish idea.

CH was very impressive. But if you ask the question “but what did she beat?” about Honeysuckle, you have to ask it about Constitution Hill, surely?

And that ALSO raises the next question – can he keep it going, or is he a one season wonder?

Honeysuckle has been the best hurdler in training for the last three years. She’s beaten former Champions and highly heralded next big things. If Kenny Alexander hadn’t been so fixated on a win at Cheltenham – any win at Cheltenham! – she would be a three-time CH winner.

I repeat, what exactly should she have done that she hasn’t done anyway?

OK, let’s put it another way. Out of the last 15 Champion Hurdle winners, who do people think would have beaten Honeysuckle? Because I’d say Hurricane Fly and Faugheen (both of whom had injury problems, so let’s give HdB and the horse some credit for avoiding those) and that’s about it.

Count me in as another Exotic Dancer fan.

Also want to give a mention to Forpadydeplasterer, a horse who managed to come second to different horses seven races in a row.

You can say that she’s dominating a weak division. Maybe that’s true, but at least, unlike the similarly weak three mile chase division until A Plus Tard got to where he is now (and may never be again), there’s a horse that can dominate it.

Let’s not forget (for instance) that Benie Des Dieux was supposed to Mullins next big thing, and Honeysuckle slammed her. She can only beat what’s in front of her and she does it again and again and again.

There are certain damners with faint praise, put it that way.

That is, unless you take heed of Irish Racing Social Media, which is convinced that there is a Terrible English Conspiracy to dismiss the horse out of hand.

I genuinely don’t know what more Honeysuckle can do to win over the haters. She’s comfortably beaten everything put before her. While she’s not quite as good as Hurricane Fly or maybe peak Faugheen (although, unlike Faugheen, she has had more than one good post-novice seasons and, unlike The Fly, she hasn’t lost to the likes of Rock On Ruby) she’s as good as anything else this century, or at least the last 15 years.

I still think Statuaire is better than her most recent runs have suggested and she’s a big price for a grade one winner, so she is an ew play for me.

Any nightmare team would have to feature Mike Cattermole (the colour beige in hunan form), Housewife’s Choice John Francombe, poison dwarf Willie Carson, drunk Al Down and senile Brough Scott.

    Win My Wings. Nuff said.

Suspect Galvin will get entered only to have his owners instigate a new series of The Great Irish Sulk-Off, but he feels like a National Horse.

    Win My Wings, duhhh.

The Galloping Bear could be one if it turns up muddy. Not sure if he’s one for anything with Good in the description.

    Win My Wings. Obviously.

Time To Get Up stays, but we’ll have to see if he has more to offer or if he’s good enough.

Win My Wings. She’s better than you, and you know it.

Royal Pagaille was never a Gold Cup horse but he had potential, depending on what sort of weight he gets.

    Win. My. *******. Wings.
