Native Trail 10-1 ew
September 12, 2021 at 16:18 #1560275The fastest fingers in the west strike again
September 14, 2021 at 20:46 #1560521Mike I took 20/1 Native Trail straight after I saw him win the Superlative a Newmarket from Masekela.
I have him on VtC’s AP competition at that price.
Good luck with him and well done FF tipping him up for the National Stakes on Sunday..I was of course on.
Having been lucky enough to see him in the flesh at Newmarket he went straight into the notebook as a
A serious Guineas contender.
Masekela (7/2 taken) who was just a sh.hd behind NT in the Superlative runs in The Royal Lodge on 25th September and hoping he will frank the form by winning although it wouldn’t put me off Native Trail as he is improving leaps and bounds and will run away with The Dewhurst on Future Champions Day.
Around 6/4 at the moment but even that could look good on the day. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 15, 2021 at 04:03 #1560541I’d be unsure about the Dewhurst for him if it got really soft. They skipped the Champagne Stakes due to penalty and ground trainer said.
September 15, 2021 at 06:21 #1560544I don’t actually see the need to go for the Dewhurst with Native Trail.
He’s won his 2yo Group 1 – that precocious box is already ticked for breeders – and they could simply put him away for the 2,000 Guineas now if they wanted.

Even though he is by Oasis Dream he has a bit of knee in his action and could take a bit of cut in the ground and why not go for the most prestigious 2yo race in the calendar with a purse of almost a quarter of a million to the winner. Who knows we could be looking at the next Frankel, he still has so much more maturing to do.
If like Mike says the ground is not too soft and barring setbacks I believe he will run and can’t wait to see him again

Yes he won the race but it didn’t look to me like he handled the undulations that well being such a big horse
I hope he runs in the dewhurst just to see him at the track again
September 15, 2021 at 12:09 #1560556Different track.
IMO the July course undulations are more marked than those on the Rowley Mile.
The Dewhurst is the obvious target – and would give him experience of all but a furlong of what he’d face on 2,000 Guineas day – but with a big 3yo future ahead of him it wouldn’t surprise me if they put him away for the winter.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 15, 2021 at 22:37 #1560618I see that Point Lonsdale is unlikely to run again this year and it wouldn’t surprise me if they forget about the 2,000 Guineas with him now and he’s next seen in something like the Ballysax Stakes as he sets out on a Derby campaign.

Good 2 year old but likely to be better over 10f and more at 3. The two year olds are a very average bunch and we may have not seen the guineas winner out yet. Aiden had a few winners of 2 yos last few days so expect a few once raced winners in the dewhurst/futurity. As I’ve said before there does seem to be a change in policy with a lot of trainers keeping them for 3 year old campaigns which is sad imho.
September 27, 2021 at 22:50 #1561701I’m reading that charlie Appleby has said he thinks coroebus is better than native trail when speaking with nick luck
16/1 coroebus will do me
September 27, 2021 at 23:51 #1561706Coroebus is a nice looking horse FF.
A proper middle distance type and he looked nicely forward in the paddock on Saturday. Completely different from Native Trail who is big and rangy with some filling out to do, more work in progress but improving with every run.He was so unlucky to get pipped at the post on Saturday, but he gave a magnificent display of how powerful a mover he is.
Good luck with him FF.
I’m still in the Native Trail camp though.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 28, 2021 at 02:24 #1561709I’m not sure he was unlucky it was his own fault for running so green
He looked like he had no clue what to do with himself
But he showed a remarkable turn of foot to put lengths between himself and the field
Their is clearly an enormous amount of ability
It reminded me a little of roaring lion in the racing post trophy, you can see the ability is there but he’s still very green.
September 28, 2021 at 03:18 #1561710I heard the interview with Nick Luck and didn’t hear CA say that Coroebus is better than Native Trail. He said they can dream about the Spring with him. But of course that’s the same with Native Trail (who goes to the Dewhurst all being well).
September 28, 2021 at 12:34 #1561729I don’t think he ran green FF as he kept a nice straight line even under pressure I just thought he ran out of steam.
One furlong from home he was maintaining 39mph but I think the dip caught him flat footed and he slowed down dramatically to 32mph by the finishing post making the ‘rally’ of Sovereign Debt loked so dramatic.
Coroebus was slowing at a rate of knots it was touch and go he would reach the post in time to win the race and he didn’t.He’s certainly a budding talent but Native Trail is the better Guineas prospect at this moment in time imo.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 28, 2021 at 19:54 #1561781Game of opinions i suppose
Looked like he was very green and badly idled after quickening clear to me
If I was sitting pretty on a 20/1 ticket on native trail id probably be similarly dismissive
They both clearly have heaps of ability
Appleby will be hoping they go a nose better than master of the seas who was an unlucky loser for him this year
September 28, 2021 at 20:26 #1561783Yes agree FF..
both extremely good horses something to look forward to next season and what’s left of this one.I just have a freebet £5 EW on Native Trail at 20’s I went in straight after his Superlative win he looked so good after a tough race, no blowing just looked like he could do it again.
