I’m not a regular punter this far out, but I’ve taken 40-1 on Glounthaune
October 9, 2021 at 14:12 #1562806Big 45 mins for the antepost Market
We could have a 2/1 fav
October 9, 2021 at 14:17 #1562808Coroebus is a big lad, that frame will take some filling out
Youd think anything he does this year is a bonus
October 9, 2021 at 14:23 #1562811Added Coroebus 17-2 ew. An able deputy perhaps
October 9, 2021 at 14:25 #1562812Doubt he beat much but that was impressive how he quickened, went from last to first very very quickly and ended up hitting the front plenty too soon
Looks a group 1 animal to me
Craven then the guineas is the plan according to the trainer
October 9, 2021 at 15:00 #1562818Quite frankly unless a superstar emerges out of knowhere
I cant see how Appleby doesn’t win the guineas with native trail or coroebus
They are both big types youd expect to train on and both of them are still quite green
Native trail looks like he is crying out for a mile too
October 9, 2021 at 15:00 #1562819When Native goes a mile he’ll be electric i think.
October 9, 2021 at 15:07 #1562820He still doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing mike
When the penny drops and he learns to organise himself properly he could be anything
Him and coroebus are polar opposites
Coroebus travels like a dream and has clearly has by far the better cruising speed but maybe not finishing off his race that strong right now
Then you have native trail who gets scrubbed along but absolutely flies home
Just hope they both get to the guineas and we see them clash
October 9, 2021 at 15:13 #1562823I would still favour Native at this stage due to how he hits the line at G1 level. The development from 2 to 3 will be the key i expect. Who is the most streetwise in May.
October 9, 2021 at 15:13 #1562824Being by sprinter Oasis Dream, Native Trail would normally have a stamina question. However, dam (unraced) is from a family that stayed further and the way Native Trail settles / runs there can’t be much doubt about staying a mile. Judging from today a bigger problem might be if getting surrounded in a big Guineas field.
Value Is EverythingOctober 9, 2021 at 20:23 #1562880Its interesting reading Appleby’s thoughts on them both in the various bits in the media, when he said about Coroebus being a supreme traveller and that you need to be able to travel in the classics was that him not saying but implying that they have some reservations about how Native Trail travels in parts of his races? I noticed the commentator today getting a bit animated but it seemed fairly minor to me rather than a full on Paisley Park flat spot. Of the other bits he said I think he’s right about Coroebus in that nothing will get him off the bridle before the two-pole but he doesn’t look straight forward to me and I can’t see him being that far ahead of everyone else on ability that he can win a Guineas on the bridle, its what he finds after then under pressure in better company with stronger stayers in a Guineas that would concern me. Interesting times anyway with Godolphin very much the dominant force rather than Ballydoyle.
October 9, 2021 at 20:40 #1562882I was far more impressed with Native Trail. I like a horse who finds plenty for a bit of pressure and much prefer them over bridle horses.
I thought Native Trail was not totally at ease in The Dip but once he met the rising ground he strode away really well.
October 9, 2021 at 20:47 #1562883I’d side with Native Trail myself.
I remember quotes from CA about Coroebus possibly being his Guineas horse over NT. You’d assume that’s based on their work at home where Coroebus is probably the stronger travelling flashy type like he is on the track….

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 10, 2021 at 00:12 #1562898Native Trail ran a blinder today once Buick pulled him out for his challenge the race was over.
Been lucky enough to see him twice now and he is getting better and better.
He comes back from all his races looking like he could do it again.Went round to see him cooling down after the race, he was so well behaved.
Love him.
He is well on track to win the 2000 Guineas now.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 10, 2021 at 04:59 #1562907After last fillies mile and dewhurst mother earth, snowfall and poetic flare were big prices for classics. Go back further and love gubbed in the fillies mile. Sea the stars had only won a maiden.id wait till they either run next season or when they turn up at the guineas. Both Appleby horses look bigger and stronger than the others and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few catch them up by May.Neither looked that impressive in my eyes but as folk have said nothing we have seen so far are near them just now. Will we see another transformation like snowfall or poetic flare come may. That’s the beauty of racing. 2yo form is no guarantee of classic success.
October 10, 2021 at 10:02 #1562920Glad you got a good day out at your spiritual home Jac and your fix of horses. Nice photos
If you’re passing the telly cheer on my beautiful greys N’golo and Lynwood Gold in the Irish Ces today
October 10, 2021 at 14:58 #1562951Coroebus and Native Trail are both fascinating horses in equal measure.
Coroebus is definitely the better traveler of the two and swiftly changes gear giving him better acceleration. Timing is the key with him and he’ll win more races once it’s perfected.
Native Trail travels well enough but has to be galvanized for his turn of foot. He doesn’t acelerate as well as Coroebus. What he does have though is a finer linear speed that he maintains all the way to the winning post. This is what gives him his potency.
Native Trail gets my vote.
