There is a serious sense of naivity on here if you think some trainners do not purposely stop horses. It may only be a handful but it happens all the time. Its a risk you take everytime you back a horse in lower graded races Im afraid.
Over here I have heard of trainners galloping decent horses before races, then bring them to the track tired and pull them up a couple of times tailed off showing absolutely no ability. Then get into a handicap off rock bottom weight at 25/1 and absolutely hack up at 5/1. Gamble landed.
There is an element of corruption in all sports. Unfortuanetly horse racing is particulary wide open to it!
I believe there is an art to spoting these plots so you can either avoid been stung or maybe jump in and profit yourself.
RIP to the one and only Grand National legend.
Thoughts with the McCain family at this sad time.
My prediction for what it’s worth: Kerry 1-14 Dublin 0-12
I called the hurling near enough so hopefully I’m on the money again!

Champiooooonesss, Champioooooooonesss, Ole, Ole, Ole
Only just sobering up now epic celebrations in the capital!
What a game, what a final, what a finish, what a team, what a win.
We are going back to back too mark my words muuuuuuuuulaaaass!!
Never mind got all the tickets I wanted in the end!! Its not what you know its who you know!!

See some stand tickets are going for up to 400 euro each on ebay and hill tickets for 250-300!! Madness!! Got mine through the official line anyway , paying face value is even a bit steep, 40 euro for the hill and 80 for stand.
Roll on Sunday, roll on Kerry!!
Come on you boys in blue!!
Do you love him?

He is a complete tosser cant stand him one bit. I just have to switch off at half time when the squeeky little manc nobhead is on. Absolutely Dire.
After he won the ledger last year the owner said he wanted to aim him at the champion hurdle and he dreamt of seeing him storming up the hill at cheltenham!!
It would be great if he did go for it with him!!
What a load of rubbish. These are still two great horses who clearly still enjoy racing and are showing Nicholls plenty at home.
Let the old boys race for as long as they still enjoy it. Good on the owners and good on Nicholls. Also if all men are born equal why are not all horses. One human life is no more important than that of another so nor is a horses life.
Is a premier league players life more important than a league 2 player. Of course not. So why is a class 1 horses life more important than a class 5. Public affection or not. The only difference is money, and its the owners that would take the hit there and bare the real loss and pain.
Well put!! I think scotland and ireland suffer from having too high expectations of the quality that they have!! 7 consecutive clean sheets at international level is astonishing to be honest so Trapatoni is doing something right! And Robbi Kean is by far Irelands best player.. who else would you play instaead of him!?? I really hope they get to the Euro’s and they have a great chance if they continue what they are doing!!
For a start saying Robbie Keane is Irelands best player is rubbish. He was once a good player until his head swelled up a few years ago. Instead of putting the ball away he started trying to for the spectacular. He is now an embarresment. When he plays all the chances fall to him as he does take good positions but he cant finish his dinner. His time at liverpool proves this and his disgraceful attempted flick in a champions league game sealed his fate there. Look at what he did at west ham then after been loaned out, his shocking miss from 3 yards cost them dear. To add to it he is as cowardly and windy as hell. His effort against slovakia the other night an example of this, watching the keeper instead of the ball.
I would drop him, play 5 in the middle and long or doyle up front. Get Coleman and McCarthy into the midfield. And if you want to know Ireland best player did you see richard dunne last night. Unbelievable performance. I accept we are a small nation and GAA takes first preference for most as regards playing at grass roots but we have been good enough in recent years only for Robbie Keane not putting the chances away. If you cant see this then i dont think you know much about football. His record is full of friendly sitters and penalties. Even through his career one on one he rarely scores. He was once a great player but he lost it upstairs.
We are blessed Slovakia somehow got hammered last night. The only problem nowe is our record in playoffs.
August 8, 2011 at 22:30 in reply to: Tottenham – Policing Again Exposed As Woefully Inadequate #367585Amazing scenes as we watch the delicate fabric of society break completely down in London!! I am flabbergasted at how badly equipped the capital of England is to deal with such rioting, shocking really!!
Seen a good few bookies been destroyed in all of this, every cloud!!
KF I never copped that you were formerly the legend known as TAPK. Personally I miss your input into the other threads as I usually tended to agree with you on most arguments, usually
Shame this is mostly a cotton wool forum and you have been restricted to this area!!Anyway this is a great thread and glad your still around to point out the winners.
Is your old pal Fist lurking anywhere under a new identity!!

Watched the replay of todays race and the hairs on the back of my neck raised again. Frankel is simply a magnificent horse and Queally gave him a great ride today. He is such an exciting horse, he had CC on the ropes 3f from home it was all over. He makes very good horses look very ordinary. I cant wait to see him race again.
You just have to admire his superiority and his pure talent. He is an incredible horse!! Delighted he will be racing as a 4yr old. Hope he stays safe now hes worth a few bob or two!!

How long is a piece of string??
That is basically what your question comes down to. Its a foolish question with no sensible answer IMO. As was already mentioned in the thread many are sick of the negative threads regarding horse fatalaties that you always seem to post. You seem to be number one on the banwagon time after time. What happened Saturday was a freak accident and as far as I can make out totally unavoidable, unless you simply stop racing altogether.
As long as horseracing continues accidents will happen as will fatalaties for both horse and jockey. Nobody enjoys seeing these terrible accidents but sadly its part and parcel of our great sport. The same can be said in any sport, Rugby, Football, Motorsports and the list goes on. Accidents and deaths occur. If your skin is not thick enough for it switch off, dont go to the meeting and stop trying to vilifie the sport.
As I watch channel four racing on my friday afternoon off I wonder is it just me or is Emma spencer like a fine wine and only getting better with age.
She truly is racings top totty!!

2 bags please!!

Dublin were very much a work in progress last year and still are. Mentally they need to toughen up and kill teams off. The killer instinct is lacking at times.
I have respect for wexford dont get me wrong, you had one of the greatest fowards of modern times in Matty Ford. The difference between us is we are All Ireland contenders, win or loose next Sunday. Man for man and as a unit there is no comparison between the two IMO. If both teams play to their best we really should win very convincingly!!
I really fear Kerry after today though. Kerrymen hate to go too long without an all Ireland and they will be bitterly sick after Corks recent successes.
THM Wexford have no chance in hell. You will not beat Dublin as we are by far and away superior. Dublin stumbled over the line against kildare but that game will only serve to improve the team. Dublin should of beaten Cork in last years semi final not to mention what happened in the league. They should arguably be all Ireland and league champions as it is only for losing their heads on both occasions. We are probably the best footballing team in the country and Brogan is by far the best player. But enjoy your day out in the big smoke, maybe sell a few strawberrys on the way up so its not a total waste of diesel!!

The all Ireland is between Kerry and Dublin IMO, im sure Kildare and Cork will be thereabouts again after a run in the qualifiers but i think the latter have run out of steam this year.
As for the hurlers it would be great to beat kilkenny again but I find it hard too see. I think they underestimated us in the league. That wont happen again i dont think.
