I’ve decided like a lot of others to keep track on my bets and hopefully help others out with picking a few winners be it in Racing,Football,G.A.A or any other sport.

My first bet is on G.A.A hurling i’m not too sure how many here are from Ireland or are familiar with the sport but it’s similar to the Scottish sport Shinty.

Kilkenny -4 10/11 with Paddy Power against Dublin today looks appealing (evens can be got with bluesquare and 888 sport but i’ve no account with either).

Dublin beat Kilkenny in the divison 1 final earlier in the year and confidence will be high and they are a much improved side but Kilkenny were missing a host of players that day and missed more frees that day that i’ve ever seen them miss!

Tommy Walsh,Brian Hogan,Richie Power and Henry Shefflin all return and Eddie Brennan and Cha Fitzpatrick are left on the bench so if things are going wrong they have men to change the game, put with this Brian Cody managing Kilkenny he’s arguably the greatest hurling manager of all time and will have his team breaking down the doors of the dressing room to get onto the field i can see Kilkenny coming out with 6 or 7 points to spare!

    First bet Kilkenny -4 €110 at 10/11

    Current bank -€110

I’ll be watching with interest Fran :)

I’d fancy Dublin to beat the handicap to be honest. No doubt Kilkenny will be angry after Dublin hopped them in the League final, but Dublin will have no fear. This Kilkenny team has been one of the greatest we’ll see over the past decade put there are signs that they aren’t quite what they were. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them come out and tear into the Dubs but the young lads from the capital won’t be intimidated. Kilkenny will be up for this game like no other match this year, that is for sure.

I was in Wexford Park when Kilkenny beat us and to be honest I felt they were quite lucky to be 5 points ahead at half time. We saw a different team in the second half but they’ll have to step up again from that performance.

I’d say it will be a tight game and too hard to call for me!

Who do you fancy for the Leinster football Fran? I think we have a very good chance, I don’t see what this Wexford team should have to fear form Dublin.

Good luck with you’re bet

THM Wexford have no chance in hell. You will not beat Dublin as we are by far and away superior. Dublin stumbled over the line against kildare but that game will only serve to improve the team. Dublin should of beaten Cork in last years semi final not to mention what happened in the league. They should arguably be all Ireland and league champions as it is only for losing their heads on both occasions. We are probably the best footballing team in the country and Brogan is by far the best player. But enjoy your day out in the big smoke, maybe sell a few strawberrys on the way up so its not a total waste of diesel!!

The all Ireland is between Kerry and Dublin IMO, im sure Kildare and Cork will be thereabouts again after a run in the qualifiers but i think the latter have run out of steam this year.

As for the hurlers it would be great to beat kilkenny again but I find it hard too see. I think they underestimated us in the league. That wont happen again i dont think.

That’s a bit harsh Fitzer. You say Dublin should arguably be All Ireland and league Champions, well in that case Wexford should arguably have beaten Dublin in the Leinster QF last year. With a bit more experience I’m sure we would have seen out the second half.

Everyone has been saying how Wexford have been beating poor teams and will face a much stiffer task against Dublin. But what more can Wexford do? They were dire against Carlow yet still beat them by 12 or 14 points.

If Dublin get a run on us it’s game over because they’re nigh on impossible to stop in Croker with the crowd behind them. they’re like a town team: when things are going well they can go to town on teams.

To say Wexford have ‘no chance in hell’ is just ignorant Fitzer. Should have beaten you last year. Apart from Kildare and Dublin ther was apparently not much between the rest of Leinster but Wexford have separated themselves from the rest with a couple of good performances and are well worth their place in the final.

Would you like some Queens too?

    2 bags please!!

Dublin were very much a work in progress last year and still are. Mentally they need to toughen up and kill teams off. The killer instinct is lacking at times.

I have respect for wexford dont get me wrong, you had one of the greatest fowards of modern times in Matty Ford. The difference between us is we are All Ireland contenders, win or loose next Sunday. Man for man and as a unit there is no comparison between the two IMO. If both teams play to their best we really should win very convincingly!!

I really fear Kerry after today though. Kerrymen hate to go too long without an all Ireland and they will be bitterly sick after Corks recent successes.

THM to be honest i’ve only seen a few highlights of Wexford games so it’s hard to gauge where they’re at but i’ve seen quite a bit of the Dubs and i’ve been impressed, this is the first time in years i’ve really felt they were genuine contenders for the All Ireland so it’ll take a big performance from Wexford to pull it off but stranger things have happened,oh and i backed Tyrone to win the All Ireland a while back so at the minute it looks like my opinions not worth much anyway

Good start to my thread anyway with Kilkenny doing the business, they did pretty much what i expected and have put their hat firmly back in the ring to win Liam!

About a year back i was down at Bellewstown and i seen Sobrando lodge come 2nd in a bumper to smokey joe joe(went on to win a maiden hurdle and a couple of handicap hurdles) after a desperately weak ride,i said after that i’d keep an eye on the horse and he ran another decent race in a bumper before going over hurdles and running pretty badly each time.

He’s running this evening in a maiden flat race over 1 mile 2 and although it’s going to be his first time racing against flat bred horses and things might be happening a bit quick i feel if he’s anywhere near the front 4 or 5 coming to 3 furlongs out he could run into a place!

Glanusk came a never closer fourth to Jambalaya and Joe eile in 3rd 2 races back after Berry had ran into all kinds of trouble with Glanusk who was never near the pace and finished strongly,he was then upped in trip but didn’t appear to appreciate it so is back down to 7 furlongs today.

Blinkers are tried today which will hopefully spark him up a little so he’ll run closer to the pace and although Ricky Doyles claim basically nullifys the swing in weights with Jambalaya i still think Glanusk has his and Joe Eiles measure.

    Naas 8.00 Glanusk €40 win 11/2 W.H

    Absolutely gutted after that

Had the game under control when Red Barry scored our goal, then a calamitous error from the goal keeper gifted Dublin a lifeline

That really was a horrendous error,i was heartbroken watching it so i can just imagine what it was like for a Wexford man!

Todays finals could be very tight and i might decide later on to have a small bet on a draw for 1 of them or both! The only bet i’m going to do at the minute is Michael Murphy over 3.5 points at 5/6 in Donegal v Derry game-he’s not lived up to his billing as one of the countries top forwards so far this year(granted the system of play doesn’t help) but i’d say he’ll be allowed sit closer to goals today than he has and he could hit 6 or 7 points!

    M.Murphy over 3.5 points 5/6 40 euro

Michael Murphy does the business with the help of a penalty :D

One selection today and it’s not the greatest rationale for backing a horse that has ever been used but Eddie Ahern is booked to ride But Beautiful in the 2.45 at yarmouth and Eddie’s not the kind of lad that would go to a meeting for 1 ride if he didn’t think it had a good chance

    Yarm 2.45 But beautiful €10 win 4/1 P.P

I was chatting to Robbie Mc Namara a few weeks back and he basically told me whatever Galileos choice runs in at Galway it should win(Galway 3.00),fair enough jockeys sometimes make bad tipsters but when a jockey like Robbie gives me a confident feeling i have to get on,i’ve doubled it up with Canford cliffs in the Sussex because i really fancy him to turn over Frankel who i’ve never taken a shine to for some reason or another (im hoping it’s my head not my heart doing the thinking here) but i realy think Canford is even better than he’s shown us and racing against someone like Frankel will show once again he just does what he has to do!

Galileos choice 5/4 Canford cliffs 11/8 – 40 double brucebetting

I’m hoping this goes better than my other racing bets have been of late
