Nope. He’s handled himself appallingly in relation to the RUK situation, imo. Gone down a lot in my estimation.

A million quid a year to do what you love to do and your whinging over a bit of measured analysis, depriving fans of the sport in the process. Get over yourself bigman.

The idea that racing will be somehow transformed if he wins it, is right up there with large numbercloths and decimal odds.

Sweet Jesus, give me strength. :?

    Exactly

No, and obvisouly its not a personality award or ryan giggs could not of won nor the the great but arrogant AP be favourite this year. Award needs to be renamed to achiever of the year cause most guys on list such as phil taylor are all assholes IMO.

Being a huge Peddlers Cross fan I am still sticking by the winning machine although i must say menorah looks more impressive every race this season and if he keeps going on this upward curve he is sure to run close in the big one, hurricane fly is the best hurdler over here in Ireland but i just dont fancy any horse to get by pedddlers cross from 2 or 3 out on the big day!!

    Mike,

Only by spirit and inspiration. It is the likes of literary geniuses such as Joyce that gave my beloved Emerald Isle the title of the land of saints and scholers. Unfortuantely now we are broke and owned by Europe but we can all knock out a decent poem or a ryhme!!

The only thing worse than cicket or more boring is people talking and writing about it!! Rounders for pansies with your afternoon tea, wooly jumpers and crumpets on the lawn.

A truly awful game, surely the worst in world, cant even watch sky sports news at the moment with all the dull coverage :x . The sooner this ashes crap is over the better. I would rather spend my day watching paint dry than watch the dull and boring mockery of real sport that is cricket.

GAA football and hurling, thats what you call sport  .

    Baseball sucks too!!

I think all involved in cricket including and especially ur beloved KP are complete jackasses

Only person ever in cricket that isnt a complete nobhead is Flintoff and hes just funny because hes an idiot, but fairplay loves his horses!! A league of their own great show on sky, what i would do for an evining with Georgie Thompson!!

    Hubba, Hubba

Put this lad up against Michah Richards or Bacary Sagna and see how easy he can do them runs for 90 minutes.

Neither of them jokers are exceptional players, more like an arsenal pansy with very bad hair and an arragant man city twat!!

    Well well well!!!!!!

Suprised to see no posts on here after the events of the fighting fifth hurdle at the weekend given all the opinion on this thread that peddlers cross is not fast enough for two miles !!

Well what do all you doubters think now?? I fully accept that Binocular may not have been reved up totally for the race but neither was peddlers cross as McCain stated during the week. Explaining that he was only fit enough to run and he had the horse no were near 100% firing. He said that he expected the horse to improve for the run!!
Improvement will certainly be expected form binocular also and he is the current champ but he is never consistent, where as peddlers cross has yet to be beaten over the smaller obstacles at a variety of trips!!

To think how impressively he won his point over here in Ireland and the fact that davy russel who schooled him described him as jumping like a stag makes the mouth water at how good he will be over fences later on!! McCain has been qouted as saying that he cant believe how fast the horse is at home so it must be acknowledged that this is surely the most exciting horse in trainning!! What a bargain he was, having been bought for around 16,000 according to Ted Walsh who was speaking about the horse on tv earlier this year.

In time im sure he will be even better over fences and longer trips so i would be confident he will be a real contender to be a gold cup heroe in seasons to come!! As for this year i feel the horse is red hot for the champion hurdle at this years festival and cannot see any horse, even binocular charging up to hill at cheltenham in front of peddlers cross or heading him before the line, the horse does simply not know how to loose a race, he truely is an expceptional animal with the ability and potential to be one of the all time greats over hurdles and fences!!

Wonder what odds on him winning the Champion hurdle, gold cup and grand national in the next 5 years   Fairplay to D McMain too he truly is going to be a force in the coming years and him and Jason Maguire are surely destined for champion status before too long, Nicholls nor McCoy cant dominate champ jockey and trainer titles forever

For now i am as impressed now as ever with peddlers cross and think he is the choice for this years champion hurdle given all goes well between now and then and the horse stays right no matter who he lines up againt him in Cheltenham!!

I too think it would be great to see denman power home in front but have doubts he will be quite up to the task this year given the weights, his age and the quality of the field. Instead I have gone for pandorama each way, although out of the handicap his form up to now is very encouraging only beaten once over hurdles by the willie mullins good thing micheal dagneut or whatever his name is!! Paul Carbery is ridding as good as ever since he cut back on the sherry’s   and noel meade as ever is a top class trainner and will surely have him primed for this and he goes very well fresh, never beaten first time out after a break i dont tink!! So now i really hope to see pandorama storming home infront i think he could be a really serious horse in the coming seasons!!

Well for a start i dont work for the bha or any racing organisation nor am i racing expert or a marketing expert, but if you tink that racing does not need to catch up on the likes of football or darts popularity wise then your kidding yourself!!

Anyone who knows anything about racing knows that you want as much information as possible in order to pick out the winners but for people who know nothing of the sport looking at the bookies display must be like reading ancient eygtian scriptures, i know it was for me and it took me a while to get to grips with it all.

Other aspects in racing such as handicapping for example can be confusing to new comers, you are told the theory is that all the horses should really be finishing in a blanket finish yet we have ten lenght winners every day of the week so does it really work that well!!

Its all about getting people interested in the first instance, get more people gambling and going to meetings, not just the big ones but the bread and butter smaller meetings too!! A mon avis!!

do people still go in bookies shops that much anyway, have to say online betting is far easier especially living in a small town with one independent bookie who can give whatever [expletive] deals he likes, or at least could, sadly his shop is almost always empty now

No matter what bookie i walk into its usually full, online is great and handy but its good to call into the shops from time, most small towns in Ireland usually have more bookies than pubs these days and thats saying something!!

One of my students has a PT job in a bookies. He says that it’s only old people that bet on horses in there, all the young ones go on football etc. He reckons that racing is in big trouble & needs to work hard to attract a younger audience or it will be dead in a generation. Frightening thought.

I couldnt agree more, i am 23 and have been following racing for only a short time and i am still learning alot about the sport. I never used to like it, infact thought it was quite boring as a child going to meetings with my dad and his mates to watch their horses, most of which never made it around without falling!!

I used to much prefer going to the dogs to watch his greyhounds. For some reason i started watching racing about 2 or 3 years ago and have watched it everyday religiousely and really try and follow the form and have really started making decent money each week perhaps thats some of the reason i am so keen these days although i do actually now love racing!!

However none of my mates like racing apart from as a day out to get smashed and loose all their money!!  Racing needs to move with the times and get young people interested, glam it up a bit and make it more appealing, its time to move foward and forget the old fuddy duddys who tink that just beacause its been around so long it will keep going forever, its time to make some new traditions and make racing a bit racier!!

Also racing needs to be made easier to understand and more accessible, most are put off as they feel its too complicated!!

It took me ages to get a grasp of all the rules and so on and alot of people just couldnt be bothered, they would rather watch the darts or football and have a bet on them!! Racing for change and the bha would want get it sorted out quick or there wont be many racing fans left by the time im 50!! And the folk that are too up themselves to see that their precious bland racing is lagging behind and needs a serious shake up will be long gone and no help to racing from the heavens above or the fires below in some cases!!
