Any update please from those who are in the know ?
With a warm up for Frankel in the July Cup
Very meh look about the cards today.
It would have been nice to have had the Newbury card today with the Challow and the Mandarin although that old chase has been seriously dumbed down since the good old days.
May not have got the crowd of last week though I suppose.
Native River a big favourite of mine. Cannot believe it was nearly 4 years ago he won the Gold Cup.
Vieux Lion Rouge another favourite. He just did not have the stamina for the National but was a superb jumper of those unique fences. Huge surprise to see him come down last year.
Please to see both retiring in one piece
Shame he had to be unsexed to realise his full potential and therefore misses out on the stallion scene.
Meh
That is all
Meh
This great race being run on an AW dog track is just wrong.
This thread has gone strangely quiet.
A great day for our boy yesterday with the Irish Derby, 3 winners at Newmarket and 1 at Newcastle.
Sadly though we may have seen the last of Logician on the racetrack. Career as NH stallion beckons ?
Which was the best horse is not a relevant consideration for the stewards.
All of Wesley Ward’s runners this week have been tying up in the closing stages and I am not convinced Campanelle was going to get home even with a clear run.
All that said there was significant interference here and Oisin did not take the right action.
It was a tough decision but I think the stewards got it right.
All of my life following racing has seen continuing moans about poor prize money here with the threat that owners will pull out; but they continue to rock up.
I do find it galling to see inconsistent handicappers and dross racing at Sha Tin and Happy Valley for 10 or 20 times the prize money on offer here though.
Adayar going for the King George next. If it comes up firm I will not be backing him even though the older horses do not inspire me.
Irish Derby looked ideal for him but maybe he needs more time to get over Epsom.
SMB looks to have too much speed for 12 furlongs and 10 furlong Grade 1’s will make him more valuable as a stallion
Thanks for the update folks

Shame to see this historic yard not in active use as a racing stable. Don’t want to see serial underachiever Saeed bin Suroor installed there mind
I tend to agree that this was the wrong race at the wrong time for John Leeper and it may set him back big time. Agree look to a 4 year old career before removing his under carriage, especially with his stellar pedigree.
There is a greater preparedness these days to geld well bred colts than in times of old
I don’t think this was a very good Derby but take nothing away from the winner. The Curragh will suit him better and he looks to have lots of stamina but I would not be piling in on him.
John Leeper might need to be unsexed to get the best out of him as a racehorse.
Despite Brigadier Gerard and Bustino I shall always associate Joe with the magnificent Kris.
RIP
Frankie irritates me too
