Think the ground was against Megallan today Austin and he is yet to win over a mile.
Derab half brother to Enable also had question marks over the distance and was taking a big step up in class.
St. Mark’s Basilica was running his 4th race in Gp.1 company and although he was not proven over the distance he had won his past races in a manner that suggested he would stay.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 7, 2021 at 05:57 #1544199I’d favour the Champion Stakes over the Arc at this point in time.
June 8, 2021 at 22:58 #1544498SMB looks to have too much speed for 12 furlongs and 10 furlong Grade 1’s will make him more valuable as a stallion
June 9, 2021 at 04:53 #1544524I don’t see the point of running smb over 12 furlongs. Coolmore are always looking for 8 to 10 furlong stallions to cover their staying types although if he went for the king George I’m sure the race could be set up for him. Hopefully the eclipse then the juddmonte int then maybe Irish champion. It would depend how the older 12f horses were doing whether they would have his swan song in the arc. I know it won’t happen but looks a cracking horse for the cox plate.
