Uh, oh – the Frankel “Feds” have arrived.

    Best we scarper, pronto, gamble!

Let’s lie low for a bit and reconvene in the Lounge once the heat is off!

It’s a FAIR COP Captain Von Berkow but there’s a slight problem, who’s going to remove the blood spatters from the top of the snow capped Pyrenees covering the badly injured there’s only one Ian Davies. It’s a photographic nightmare.

Cecil must have welcomed the sight of the British Empire beginning to crumble and fall apart in his teenage years as he missed conscription by one year. It was ditched in 1960 just a year before he was 18.

You can imagine the scene as the drill sergeant checked the line.

” So you think your hofficer class do you private Cecil – GET THOSE SHOULDERS UP AND GET YOUR HAIR CUT !!!

As for Frankel – adopted by a Prince he could have taken a different route – Harrow then Cambridge and honours as a sole hoarsman light blue trouncing the Oxford boat by twenty five lengths.

This thread has gone strangely quiet.

A great day for our boy yesterday with the Irish Derby, 3 winners at Newmarket and 1 at Newcastle.

Sadly though we may have seen the last of Logician on the racetrack. Career as NH stallion beckons ?

Top sire at Royal Ascot too!

Pity about Logician though. Looks like he never really recovered from his illness

Posted this picture on my Meydan Thread and to Joni (of course) but thought it belongs here too especially with the news that he is to be retired to stud.

The three Frankel winners at Newmarket included the filly Anghaam out of Natagora and a very useful 2yo Cheveley Park filly Inspiral who showed a great turn of foot to overcome Godolphin’s Clear Skies who was leading the field half a furlong from home.

Logician looked magnificent in the paddock and even though he went down to his half brother Outbox I’m just so glad I saw him and his last run on the track. Now it’s time for the next generation of Frankel’s..

Good article in the RP today about our boy and the phenomenal success he is having at stud – https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/members/insight/frankel-hes-very-much-the-peoples-horse-hes-very-special/499309

More to come this week I think….

This is all well and good, but I for one won’t accept Frankel has really arrived as a stallion until he sires his first Point-to-Point winner….

Won it against the nap of the cloth too, sign of class and more to come.

I said there was more to come! Wow – a Group 3 6f winner in Light Refrain followed by yet another Group 1 in the shape of the gorgeous Snow Lantern. I think she’ll be even better over further and could be her sire’s best filly so far.

Frankel is absolutely flying right now and leads Galileo by a few hundred thousand in the race to be top sire. A long way to go but he certainly has the fire power to upset his daddy this season. In the meantime today he became the fastest stallion to 50 Group winners in history!

So chuffed that he is coming good now. It took a little while but, reading about it more over the last few months, those disappointing couple of seasons were far from unusual as breeders tend to hedge their bets waiting for those first 2-year-olds to come out. So his third and fourth books were down on his first and second. Now of course the numbers and quality are back up there and breeders are working out which mares are best suited to a stallion who invariably passes on that incredible stride, that ability to gallop at full tilt just that bit longer than other horses and, of course, that naughty streak! Right now the future looks bright… And I’m sure he WILL produce a point-to-point winner soon Ian!

To coin a popular current phrase, “Frankel’s Coming Home!!!”

Hope everyone is well in the world of TRF!

No apologies for reviving this thread on the day Frankel sires his first Arc winner!! What a mare that Alpinista is and what a wonderful story with Sir Mark Prescott winning the race 52 years after taking out his licence!

Tears were shed at Chez Bacon (whilst the rest of the family looked on in bemusement – as usual) especially when they showed the clip of his lass, Annabel Willis, going mental in the final furlong. If you haven’t seen it, I promise it’s worth a boggle. People who don’t follow racing can’t possibly get what it means to those of us who love the sport and love those amazing animals.

Frankel might fall short of winning his second UK and Ireland Sires Championship in a row but he will obviously win in Europe once again and is now firmly ensconced as one of the world’s best sires. With the book of mares he covered in 2022 reading like a Who’s Who of great mares, there could be a lot more to come….

Well-bred greatest racehorse of all time turns out to be a roaring success at stud – who’d have thought it?

But you’re right, no one outside racing understands what results like today’s Arc mean to me – I was on the runner up win only.

    “Gutted” doesn’t even come close.
