As regards interest:meh
Very quiet on here when Frankel has been firing in a few winners recently
What a horrible name is Sneezy
Pointless broadcast.
Nothing to see here, move along please
Agreed, good jockeyship after the problems the colt has had.
The Gosden stable has been misfiring recently too
Not expecting too many to rock up for this new mares race and not likely to be a good betting heat. Very likely a bore fest. Novices handicap should have been retained.
Big two year old races largely over and Logician flopping.
Not a good September and October for our boy
If “best performance” is defined as “no other jockey would have won that” I would say Lester Piggot in the 1972 and 1977 renewals with Roberto and The Minstrel.
Both brutal rides mind.
So I agree with harshthakor
The win on Sir Ivor was oh so stylish stylish but I think plenty of other jocks would have won that one.
Steve Cauthen on Slip Anchor and Reference Point very good too. Boy did Steve have a clock in his head.
September 10, 2020 at 23:38 in reply to: Best Irish racehorses over jumps ever in order of merit? #1500743Never saw Prince Regent race so it has to be Arkle. The 1964 Gold Cup defeat of Mill House when that horse was at his best was as good as anything I have seen in the staying chase scene.
Without wanting to criticise Pat Taaffe too much, think how much more impressive Arkle might have been with a really decent jockey in the plate.
Flyingbolt was awesome too at his best.
September 10, 2020 at 23:28 in reply to: Best British Jump race horses of all in order of merit? #1500723Call me Mr Picky if you like but Mill House never beat Arkle after the 1963 Hennessy let alone in 1967. By then Arkle had retired injured never to race again.
Mill House might have won the Gold Cup in 1967 but for falling.
Loved Mill House me
Number of infections is less important than the number of deaths and hospitalisations.
Battaash and I love Frankel
What is the other thread where this topic is aired please ?
Yes it is indeed all reaction but the job of a good government is to lead and not blindly follow. Too much attention to focus groups and sound bites. Boris might be good at winning elections but he is proving a hopeless leader
Yep 2020 has been disappointing.
Did I see a Frankel winning a Group sprint in France recently ? Cannot recall the name.
As Corky says above, utterly farcical that this useless government keeps swinging a wrecking ball at the economy for no good reason as a knee jerk panic reaction. Must be seen to be “doing something” I suppose.
France has been allowing crowds of up to 5,000 on racecourses since early July and 11,500 a day are going to be be let into the Open tennis.
And here we are farting around timidly with pusillanimous experiments to let a few people attend which are then pulled at the last minute.
No wonder my French friends are baffled and bemused by our utterly pathetic way of responding to this thing.
The average age of those dying possibly as a result of Covid is 84. Of all deaths thought to be Covid related 88% are aged 65 plus. Of course all deaths are a matter of regret but where has the perspective, sense of proportion and rational analysis gone ? The hysterical concentration on Covid to the exclusion of everything else is causing more damage than the disease itself.
The stupid petty fogging restrictions will have a minimal if any effect on preventing this thing from spreading. It has gone all around the world from a single case in China (apparently). Our pathetic attempts to control it are akin to sticking a finger into the dyke. It is not going away and cannot be beaten unless a fully effective vaccine is found. As soon as any unlocking is tried it will be there lurking and ready to kick off again.
How much more damage will be done including a surge in non Covid deaths before the government and its advisers get the point.
There is nothing better that can be done than shielding the vulnerable. Everyone else needs to get on with their lives while taking sensible precautions.
Frankly Darling very impressive in the Ribblesdale today
