Derby>Eclipse>King George>Arc would be a tough ask. Hard to sustain 100% over a high summer/autumn campaign.
He did it the hard way yesterday and is undoubtedly a very high class colt indeed but I thought the field for the Eclipse was disappointing.
There does not appear to be conclusive scientific or veterinary evidence that inbreeding has led to a weakening of the physical conformation of the breed.
I recall an oddly named horse called Croft What’s Wanted in the mid 1960’s bred 2×2 to Nasrullah. I think it was trained by Sam Armstrong. It went on to be a stallion in Australia.
It was sired by Grey Sovereign a line that has not been much preserved here although the French did try to nurture it through such as Highest Honor.
Hercule Poirot is about to summon us in to announce the conclusion of the investigation.

We now have a very unfortunate public spat between the owner and trainer.

Not sure of the rights and wrongs but it is unseemly and unbecoming with the horse having died. A period of silence from these folk on their differences of opinion would be appreciated please.
Like some others, I never really took to the horse (don’t know why, Nicholls might come into it) but he was a very fine chaser indeed who did not deserve this premature death.
I would not agree that he was the best chaser of all time. Of the horses I have seen, the best chaser was the one and only Arkle; even although he broke the heart of my hero as I was getting into racing: Mill House.
So, D L Jones and Monsieur Doyasbere are picture doubles.
The Forces Reunited site tells us Basil (Bill) Moore served on HMS Bruce 1947/48 and the site shows that picture.
Is Norette Moore Bill’s daughter ?
I don’t have any Timeforms that far back. I have the John Betts books (full set) but French horses are not very extensively covered, also it focuses on the two year olds who are likely to win races at three. I don’t know a lot about the races held at York in the earlier meetings of the year immediately post war. Many races have changed their names.
Does anyone know what Woodflower looked like or whether Kiowa had a blaze?
But I think we are looking for a chestnut filly here, I am pretty certain Donatellina was a bay. She was exported to the USA.According to the excellent Thoroughbred Pedigree Query site Donatellina was indeed a bay.
I think the focus of the article was on the closure of city courses which went for development. Lanark racecourse basically went bust.
I regularly pass the old Buckfastleigh course adjacent to the A38 between Exeter and Plymouth. The old grandstand (a bit of a grand name for an old metal shack) is still there with trees growing out of it. The land has returned to agricultural use although they do put up temporary fences and mark out a circuit for point to points. A similar fate for Wye near Canterbury which I used to go to in the early 70’s when at University there.
I can recommend the book “A Long Time Gone” by Chris Pitts for those who like a nostalgic trip back in time. It covers around 90 racecourses that have closed down.
John Gosden is usually one of the most measured and sensible guys in racing; who could forget the way he handled the death of Rewilding in the King George at Ascot in 2011. He did racing a big favour that day.
On this one there are arguments both ways but IMO he should give it up and move on.
Indian Skimmer did indeed make her debut at Dunstall Park………………on the grass.
Boyd-Rochfort never trained at Warren Place; he was at Freemason Lodge. (Assuming that sequence was referring to WP)
Yes I noticed those entries and Mighty Yar is already jocked up with a certain Mr Tom Queally who seemed right out of favour with the yard.
I see Lady C has a couple of unraced Juddmonte two year olds entered too: Highly Prized and Cabinet Room; the last named at Wolves though.
Adding to the query on Hamelin does anyone know what happened to his younger half brother Touch The Sky ?
I read in the Racing Post that Retirement Plan has had a setback but is expected to run later in the season. No direct news on Codeshare but some internet sites indicate he is at Warren Place. Another well bred unraced 3-y-o colt Film is in the July sales with Quantative and Sharissima.
Here is Mighty Yar taken 4 weeks ago at Warren Place
Hopefully he’ll be back soon.

Many thanks for the info and picture. The big horse is getting whiter ! Hopefully he has strengthened up too. I am sure there is a decent race in him but I cannot fathom what trip he needs.
The writing was on the wall unfortunately despite the great work last year with Noble Mission. Apart from that it was a pretty poor season with not a single two year old winner, staff and owners leaving and little activity at the sales.
Lady C refused to show her 2015 string in the Horses in Training publication and does not list them on her website which she did last year. The Juddmonte allocation last year was not from his best families and I understand Frankel’s T-Y-O brother Proconsul is with Andre Fabre in France.
One assumes the secrecy is to hide the lack of numbers and quality. I find it rather sad that horses as poor as Pudding are turning out for this once great yard which I have followed for over 50 years.
Cannot see PK buying the yard as he spreads his horses around and is getting on in years with no obvious family successor. What a great and loyal friend he was over the years to Henry compared to a certain other big owner.
BTW: Does anyone know what has become of Mighty Yar ?
