Summat to do with the Countess of Chesterfield ?
Both from the Gainsborough sire line ?
LD73
I think Henry would have tilted his head to one side and said:
“He is doing it quite nicely. What do you think.”
As others have said it is hard to believe it is 5 years ago that we lost the legend. Much missed.
Anybody know if Monarchs Glen has got a problem ? No current entries and no show since a poor run in Dubai end of March.
Thought he was a nailed on Group 1 horse for this year.
Any chance please of a question Crepello by Donatello out of Crepuscule by Mieuxce out of Red Sunset by Solario ?
Agree with the last poster. He just did not have the stamina up that hill. Do not believe he was in any way ungenuine.
He really annoyed me last year when he moaned about “the disaster” of his allocation of two year olds. Other trainers would have been delighted to have received just 2 or 3 of the bunch.
He was a “political” appointment back in the mid 1990’s. Tom Albertrani did all the real work and Simon Crisford used to shift uncomfortably from one foot to the other when questioned as to what SBS really did. Jim McGrath summed him up nicely as “The licence holder.”
A big under achiever but then so is Sheik Mo’s rambling incoherent empire. Compare the Juddmonte operation. PK has not been interested in making political appointments.
Thanks.
Superb pedigree from a great Niarchos family but so far a dud. I see he fetched £30K at Ascot sales. In very good hands so I will be interested in seeing how he goes.
I wonder if any Frankel offspring will make the hurdling scene ?
Turnkey (Ire) is out for his second start at Dundalk tomorrow night.
I remember Turnkey (GB) – a classy 7-time winning sprinter for Dandy Nicholls and Mick Channon in the 2000s.
Not to forget the 1971 version (also a sprinter) a Tudor Melody colt trained by Noel Murless
The Criterium turn out from the garlic munchers is utterly abysmal

This is Busted – was too young at the time to remember him, but Tony Morris,if I remember right, in an article on Mtoto’s pedigree many years ago, recounted how Noel Murless saw him running on the TV and thought he’d make a good pacemaker for Royal Palace.
Cancello wins the races

It was indeed Busted who I saw on TV being ridden all wrong and making the running in the 1966 Irish Derby before dropping tamely away. He was lined up to be gelded and sent jumping before the master trainer Noel Murless intervened seeing him as a good lead horse for his Derby hope Royal Palace. Transferred from Brud Fetherstonhaugh Murless improved Busted to such an extent that he was quickly taken off lead duties and won 4 races at 4 in 1967 (the golden year for Murless) including the Eclipse and King George before picking up an injury and missing the Arc for which he was favourite. When held up he was able to deliver an amazing turn of foot, rather similar to that of his son Mtoto. George Moore had preferred the 1,000 winner Fleet over Busted in the Eclipse so dear old Bill Rickaby picked up a big race winner. Happy days for this racing mad schoolboy.

You meant to say Crisp right ?
2018 campaign for Cracksman to start with Jockey Club Stakes ? Nah its a Group 2 and not good on a stallion’s CV.
Put the lad in the Lockinge and let him stuff the milers before the big 10 & 12 furlong Group 1’s
O.K. I have not set one of these before so it may be far too easy.
Which horse ran unplaced in the Irish Cambridgeshire Handicap and later went on to be voted Horse of the Year after switching stables ?
