Far too short. Wouldn’t consider backing her at any price unless it rains for the next month! Even then, I’m not convinced she’d handle Epsom
May 2, 2021 at 18:46 #1539521I just cant see her ever finding much for pressure with her head that high in the air
May 2, 2021 at 19:17 #1539523If she goes straight to the Oaks, the lack of experience that counted against her here must be an issue again.
A twice raced filly who did not look entirely at ease at Newmarket and with a high head carriage, being asked to run around Epsom?
Put me down as a sceptic.
May 2, 2021 at 20:14 #1539530As FF said well done all of us for not buying into the AOB hype ovet Santa Barbara beating all comers at home.
Maybe Mother Earth was the plan all along 10/1 was a very nice SP.I think Saffron Beach is progressing leaps and bounds and is the one I will take out of this race.
Sacred proved she is a 7f filly but I would have been on Indigo Girl if she had run or Snow Lantern or Pretty Gorgeous ..the race was not a great one without them there..Jac

Master Of The Seas nearly broke the old Craven/Nell Gwynn curse on running in the Guineas but along with Sacred he became another victim.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 2, 2021 at 20:15 #1539531Sorry meant to say..
Well done all who backed Mother Earth

Alcohol free definitely stayed a mile despite being keen early but got caught out wide by herself on the wrong side of the track
I dont think faheys decision to put first time cheekpieces on fev rover worked, they sparked her up too much and she was running away with the jockey for the first 3 furlongs
Santa Barbara travelled best but found nothing for pressure
Saffron beach got a bit tapped for speed again and looks like a step up in trip would suit
May 2, 2021 at 22:18 #1539543I’d say your being a bit harsh with ‘found nothing for pressure’ as she did keep on well enough but it was very much noticeable how high her head was as well as how little Moore was wanting to give her a tap.
He’s normally pretty generous with the plastic but with her he seemed at pains to use it. That isn’t her being inexperienced, she’s quirky. It’s also interesting how Aidan has said (and acted on it) that he doesn’t want to give her many runs. Weird she needs massive gaps between races and that the Oaks is next despite her breeding looking like 8-10F is optimum. Looks all over a Irish Guineas/Coronation filly to me.
She ran a cracker for one so In-experienced, but when she’s sent off 5/2 it’s worth noting the above IMO.
Winner was top drawer. Won quite easy to be honest, Frankie new at the furlong pole he’d won. Fev Rover the one to take out of it for me, pulled like a train and still kept on for third. I’d aim her at the Prix De Diane if I was Nick, Hugh and the lads.
May 2, 2021 at 22:29 #1539547Kris sadly main bet was win and smaller bet e/w to cover stake never looked like winning but nothing lost
May 3, 2021 at 08:49 #1539569Just found out place terms was only first 3
May 3, 2021 at 19:59 #1539657Frankie irritates me too
May 4, 2021 at 06:40 #1539668One things for sure, Mother Earth blew apart the theory that Ballydoyle were instigating everything for SB!
Did a Zoffany finally train on or was it more that the race came just early enough in the season and the quality was poor?
Time will tell.
May 4, 2021 at 13:28 #1539686Zoffany fillies have been good runners-up in English & Irish Oakses, so ‘yes’, they can train on.
But, Alcohol Free – do No Nay Nevers truly get a mile? So far, only Wichita did (just). Ten Sovereigns & Arizona – nope. Alcohol Free looks more of a 7f Jersey / Lennox / Foret type to me. - AuthorPosts
