Beshebar to miss this in favour of Aintree.
Looked likely this was going to happen judging by recent comments…..
Jesus wept, didn’t realise Cerium and Mr Pointment were in there.
Neither did i.
Cerium has only had 1 run, and that was the Grand National, since appearing in the Gold Cup in 2009.
Odd to think that this 2 will be having a ‘warm up’ for the national at the back end of the field whilst up front Kauto and Denman will be battling it out in the tussle the whole of racing has been waiting for?!?
No more watering is the word from Mr Claisse. Correct decision in my opinion….
Very true Wilts.
Cheers for the weather update.
A festival of 2 halves (ground anyway) just adds to the intrigue….
I don’t think Twisty is a non-stayer but I do think he has a dislike of Cheltenham. Really depends on what mood the boy is in on the day and that is not the kind of horse you want to be backing in a Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival race!
Class horse but has plenty of flaws in his armoury…..
Knockara Beau is an interesting one.
He has plenty for AND against him.
He could easily run into the places at a huge price…..
Depends on how the Ascot ‘fence hitting’ experience has left him!
Do you think the ground will dry out enough for the fast ground horses to hold a huge advantage?
We had a fairly severe winter so it may take a hell of a lot for the ground to be deemed proper good ground.
Our stayers are complete crap this year though. Pandorama would be the best of them and even if he was fit I doubt Noel would run him given the likely going now.
Looks a Henderson benefit. If Long Run jumps, he wins.
I’m a big LONG RUN fan but if he makes the same mistakes as he has in his previous 2 runs then I can’t see it winning I’m afraid……..
If MIKAEL D’HAGUENET is as good as they think he is then connections would be foolish to risk him at Cheltenham after only a racecourse gallop/school.
If he were to come out and win at the Festival 1st time out then we would be looking at a potential superstar. Unfortunately I could only see the experience harming him rather than helping him. Either draw up stumps for the season or find a small novice race somewhere and then head to Punchestown.
I don’t see any problem with NACARAT getting the trip in this ground. Has won on soft before and has won on heavy in France and I’m sure that would have almost been a bog!
Whether he can win this off an 11 lbs higher mark is another question….
I though the 2 behind would swallow him up but the leader dug deep and it was obvious he would not be passed.
V impressive display from the horse.
Yep, Good shout Craig.
Mr McGoldrick was on my radar (check my blog for proof of non after timing!!?
) and for a breif moment I thought the 20-1 was going to be landed. He seems to be enjoying his racing more than ever these days.
Tidal Bay has a serious engine. He always has and it is simply been his jumping that has let him down. In-between his obstacles is where he makes up the most ground and since its slightly easier to get from one side of a hurdle to another (as opposed to fences) I think connections have made the correct decision with the switch back.
He has to be a threat in the World Hurdle and jumping the last we could have 2 horses with massive engines that are not the most natural of lepers!
The World Hurdle has suddenly become very interesting….
Punjabi is still my selection although SOLWHIT is becoming increasingly hard to ignore.
MEDERMIT’s form line with GO NATIVE is interesting; I think he fell off a lot of people’s radars as he was touted as a possible Arkle contender at the start of the season.
DUNGUIB needs to take the Supreme route. A good horse can be ruined by pitching it in too deep too early.
How it looked to me….
Front two went off too fast, surprised Ruby got sucked in.
Zaarito was in at least a grade too high.
It was obvious from some way out that something was going to come and "do" themDoubt if An Cathaoir Mor is an Arkle horse, the others certainly won’t live with the top Irish trio (Sizing Europe, Captain Cee Bee, Osana)and therefore may as well stay at home.
Maybe it’s worth a try for An Cathaoir Mor though, improving horse looked to have something in hand today, especially if Henry De Bromhead is looking at the Champion for Sizing EuropeAgree with that, CHELTENHAM SPECIALIST.
I don’t think AN CATHAOIR MOR stands a chance in the ARKLE, would be surprised if he even made the frame.
The ground did not look heavy, this would not have helped the Nicholls horse. Saying that, it was still a below par performance from the beast.
SUBLIMITY ran a cracker. Carberry did all he could to beat SOLWHIT but the BYRNES horse looks to have the former champs measure.
CELESTIAL HALO really needs a step up. He has the pedigree to suggest that he will be better over further once he goes over fences.
Goldikova
There are rumours going around that Denman may well go to the Cotswold Chase next week at Cheltenham.
The amo for debate could be even sooner.
