Donna’s Palm EW at 6-1 looks the value
With 3 horses rated 10lbs+ clear of him, and another couple not far behind, betting (effectively) odds-on a place would be one of the worst bets of the season, imo.
Aren’t hurdle races at this meeting run on a ‘sharper inside track’, or have I misunderstood something from previous years? If so, it would be a strange place to send Celestial Halo – given his running style and his previous record in similar situations.

There we go then

Cheers for the update!
January 23, 2010 at 12:08 #271584I was talking to a fortune teller, and she said that after the race Charles Byrne said, “yes it was a nice victory for us, and we now go to Cheltenham full of confidence”. Then she looked into the ball, and saw some 3/1 quotes for march.

Oh S**t,the last person i want to "Hear" anything positive about MY horse is You mate!I can see you are just coming round to my way of thinking though! In that Celestial will win the Champion hurdle!

I want that fortune tellers phone number and I’m not looking for tips
January 23, 2010 at 19:00 #271688Looks like Donna’s Palm EW is the value for me but only if there are 8 runners
Wouldn’t THAT muddy the Champion Hurdle waters!!
Best best of the day would appear to be FLAMINGOS GOLD EW at Limerik Estimated 5-1, 6-1
Rite of Passage and Quel Esprit are going to take a lot of beating obviously,

Discout those runs rate on his other runs only and he’d be rated at least a stone higher than he is.
Don’t forget in last year he was rated higher at home than Go NativeJanuary 24, 2010 at 11:36 #271783Today is a day for watching Celestial Halo as i feel every thing is in Solwhits favour,my problem is i dont rate Solwhit anywhere near good enough to win the Champion hurdle in March,so why not lump on Celestial then? Well if my horse is 100% fit for this then i am a bad judge,he was going to have a run on the all weather to sharpen him up,so i believe he will come on for this, now if he were to win undercooked it will only confirm my lack of faith in Solwhit anyway and should he get beat it will be because he hates the ground and will have blown up,so i am in a comfortable situation! What i dont want to see is Solwhit swinging all over him and effortlessly going 10 lengths clear!Thats not going to happen!!I have gone in again at 12"s for March though!I know he"s capable,Mamlook was a boost i have been waiting for!

What makes you think he’ll hate the ground or isn’t fit?
Couldn’t have been much softer than it was a year ago when he turned over Osana in a very good time at Sandown.
PN had him spot on for that so there’s no reason to believe the rumours saying he’s in excellent condition for this are false.
If PN sends them to Ireland they don’t go undercooked unless your so far ahead of the rest you don’t have to be 100%. That simply isn’t the case here and what comes out of this race you can take to the bank…….if it’s close I’d be more than happy to back Solwhit to beat him at Cheltenham if Solwhit beats him you can forget and reversals IMO
I’d say conditions are slightly more in favour of Celestial Halo because he handles the ground and has the edge on speed. Bit of a forgone conclusion really Celestial Halo wins
You lose, because he still won’t win the Champion Hurdle.January 24, 2010 at 12:57 #271809As usual trying to work out your logic in your assessment is like trying to P**s in the wind!
January 24, 2010 at 14:49 #271828A proper horse
January 24, 2010 at 14:52 #271829That was pretty impressive.
DOnna’s Palm made an eye cataching finish and the 2m4f at Aintree should suit him.
Celestial Halo was very poor.
January 24, 2010 at 14:53 #271830Very good run from Solwhit there, dug deep and went on from Sublimity.
Thought Robbie Hennessy’s charge ran a cracker there.
January 24, 2010 at 14:58 #271832A proper horse

In heavy ground no question! Dissapointed that i am with Celestial Halo,i can assure his supporters he would have hated the ground and he was not 100% fit!He will drift out to 16/1 now, which makes him even more attractive for Cheltenham! The Champion hurdle is what counts!
January 24, 2010 at 15:00 #271834Looked like yet another murky Champion hurdle clue to me. Sublimity isn’t top class and Solwhit didn’t exactly run all over him. Celestial Halo a major disappointment for reasons unknown. The ground is certainly not heavy and he should’ve been fine on it.
I haven’t a clue what is going to win the Champion Hurdle.
January 24, 2010 at 15:06 #271835SUBLIMITY ran a cracker. Carberry did all he could to beat SOLWHIT but the BYRNES horse looks to have the former champs measure.
CELESTIAL HALO really needs a step up. He has the pedigree to suggest that he will be better over further once he goes over fences.

There is always daylight between his fences and his legs when he jumps them too, think they will send him down the Arkle route though next season.
