1111- 16 Voler La Vedette(152) (CAMurphy) – . …. 11,05Solwhit will be the likely favourite to follow up his win here the last day. This looks like it will be a stiffer assignment for him though.
I’d say Binocular is quite likely to travel over for this. JP is reportedly quite keen for him to run in Ireland and there are only so many trials available to Henderson if he wishes to keep all his horses apart. He’ll definitely be on a retrieval mission here though after disappointing at both Kempton and Newcastle.
Voler La Vedette is a mare I like a lot and I think she’s the value in the Cheltenham market at the moment. She wasn’t overly impressive at Leopardstown but Colm will surely have left something too work on for this. Her defeat of Go Native is looking like very strong form. Meade’s horse wasn’t at his best that day but he couldn’t have been that short of race fitness given that he already had a run in beating River Liane at Limerick Junction.
Torphichen is the dark horse. EOG is having a great season and I was quite taken with his display at Naas. He won’t win a Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham but a well run two miles in soft ground at Leopardstown could be his opportunity.
January 8, 2010 at 10:16 #268729In the past results have been fairly unpredictable after a long weather hold up, obviously depending on how active the respective trainers can keep their horses but Voler La Vadette stands out with(maybe even without) the allowances
January 10, 2010 at 18:52 #269165I think Solwhit should win this providing he runs to somewhere near his best, as you say i think voler la vedette should go well with her allowance.
January 13, 2010 at 15:42 #269639I was reading that Zaynar could be supplemented for this race and that Binocular may head to Sandown for the Contenders hurdle, February 6th.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 13, 2010 at 16:12 #269649Do you guys then think she’ll be bang there in the Champ, considering her allowance there is greater. If she beats Sollwhit here what price for Champ?
January 13, 2010 at 16:37 #269655If she was to beat Solwhit and one of the Henderson horses I imagine she’ll be close enough to favourite. I heard Segal put her up yesterday in the RP. She’s been far too big a price for a month or two now.
January 13, 2010 at 20:35 #269711Looks a very good renewal with Celestial Halo looking to be as good as confirmed runner along with Zaynar making the trip maybe as well.
January 13, 2010 at 22:52 #269736I’ve been saying for a while that it seems to me that few can accept the Voler La Vedette / Go Native form at face value.
Perhaps if she’d won by 3 lengths she’d be a shorter price for The Champion Hurdle.
Someone said (on this forum) the form wasn’t worth a sausage, that’s NOT how it looked to me, if it comes up soft at Cheltenham she’ll take a deal of beating that’s for sure, even Dunguib will need to be at his best if they both show upJanuary 14, 2010 at 18:37 #269910Solwhit/Punjabi to run huge trials for the big one, I’d have thought.
Proper Grade 1 horses.

24th January.
I’m thinking they’ll be going in up to their bellies, so have had a little on Mr Thriller
January 15, 2010 at 16:03 #270064This will be a fascinating race and being a BIG Punjabi fan I am really interested in the result even though it looks like he will run at Haydock.
I heard that Zaynar may go for this and that will definately sort out the CH market.
I would make it between Solwhit and Zaynar if he turns out.
Again ground is key and it’s bound to be really soft so Solwhit will have his ground again.
I’d be interested what would happen to Solwhit if the ground is better at Cheltenham as I think he may just get done for toe.
However this race could be his and will probably be made fav for the CH then.

January 18, 2010 at 16:53 #270640Punjabi to haydock and VLV out so an ideal chance for Solwhit to prep like a good un.
January 18, 2010 at 16:58 #270642Big Bucks, VLV isn’t running then? Do you know why?

pulled muscle fella!
January 18, 2010 at 17:05 #270645BB, do you believe that or do you think Murphy is just dodging the big-guns?? Maybe Im too cynical!!
January 18, 2010 at 17:06 #270646Seems genuine enough
Race would have been ideal for her non?
January 18, 2010 at 17:14 #270651I just don’t see her as a real contender, so I guess non would be my answer!! I think that Solwhit will be tough to beat, as the ground will be bottomless. I know, very un-original choice.
