3f21- 19 Zaarito (CAMurphy) – . ………….. 11,12The weather is long odds on to beat both Punchestown and Leopardstown at the weekend so we might as well get the ball rolling on this race. Harty is keeping Captain Cee Bee for Naas which takes away from this contest a bit. I doubt Sizing Europe will run either. Presumably HDB will freshen him up for Cheltenham now. This may be Osana’s opportunity to land a Grade 1 then because I doubt he’ll be good enough later on in the season.
Willie looks to have a strong hand. Cousin Vinny and Sports Line are probably the two from his string. There has to be doubts about Mikael D’Haguenet at this stage given that we’re yet to see him and that they’re considering staying over hurdles. Its doubtful he’d start off in this even if he has chasing experience from France.
Muirhead is an interesting entry and Take The Breeze will give us some idea how the Irish/English novices compare. I’m hoping Zaarito will give another boost to Captain Cee Bee’s form. He was very impressive last time for O’Regan and he’ll be a danger to all if he replicates that sort of form.
January 12, 2010 at 21:55 #269537I read a quote from Meade suggesting that it would be too late to switch Muirhead to fences now, and that he’d be doing that next season.
I agree regarding Take the Breeze. Very interesting if that one stays in. I’d read Sports Line is likely to be Mullins’ main entry.

Sports Line is the only one that should be winning that race but Mullins is so in and out!!!!!!!.
Nicholls could take this pot home to Ditcheat….which ever one Ruby Rides could be interesting
January 19, 2010 at 22:28 #270948Agree with the above – Sports Line made the most impressive chasing debut in Ireland this year for me and would be disappointed where he to get beat in a race such as this (which although has plenty of potentially top notch horses has cut up rather badly).
Take The Breeze is also entered in the Dr P J Moriaty so it looks to me like Nicholls is doing everything he can to run the horse on soft ground, probably won’t be good enough either given he was one of only two horses put in the race at Newbury it’s hard to tell exactly how good the performance was.
An Cathaoir Mor is the interesting one for me – he has plenty of form over fences and is seemingly getting better with each start, he has to reverse form with Zaarito but given he’s 3 or 4 times the price and is a potential improver he might be worth a bet at 12/1 or so.
January 21, 2010 at 13:39 #271261Agreed IS, he travelled better than Zaarito or the Captain his second turn at Naas and will be my biggest bet of the season so far.
January 22, 2010 at 16:27 #271446Sports Line wins this in a hack……
January 22, 2010 at 17:45 #271468I agree Sports Line will win.

Aren’t we the confident lot?

Sporting Line is obviously very useful but he’ll find this a lot different than taking on the moderate lot he did last time when getting an and uncontested lead.
Much depends on how the race is run but with AP on board Take A Breeze I would imagine PN isn’t thinking of puting AP into too much of a tactical battle with Ruby.
PN has the more experience chaser and I can see him taking on Sporting Line from flag fall and upsetting him.
The form of Captain Cee Bee’s firt win is beginning to look better than I expected and Zaarito must have a chance of upsetting both if he can keep tabs on them.
Very tricky race and I’ll keep my cash for another day.
January 23, 2010 at 14:42 #271615Yeah, tricky race. 5 last time out winners, a 2nd and a 3rd. I will take a closer look at it but very likely no bet and a watching brief for me.
January 23, 2010 at 16:41 #271649I presume Ruby had the choice off riding Take The Breeze or Sports Line. Anyone know if this is the case and / or why he is riding the latter?

Apart from it being Sunday when Willie I believe has first claim on Ruby, he would have agreed to ride Sporting Line in this way back in November. The decision to send Take the Breeze wouldn’t be made until after he won at Newbury I suspect.
January 23, 2010 at 20:30 #271709An interesting race that should prove quite informative. If someone gave me a tenner to put on Take the Breeze I think I would give it them back and tell them to save their money. For some reason I have it my head that this horses only purpose here is to measure the other two runners.
. I am sure it will run well but it will not cause any great repercussions should it get stuffed.
The other two are an interesting pair with Zaarito given a far more searching searching time as a juvenile than the Mullins horse, who has always known where the future lies with this one. No matter how attractive the form looks for Zaarito I cant get it out of my head that he has his limitations over this trip, and he will eventually be suited by further, Sports Line seems like just the right type to expose them.January 24, 2010 at 08:43 #271763

According to PN (yesterday’s RP) Willie Mullins has first call when Ruby rides in Ireland – though one suspects Ruby does as he pleases, and has done so again today.
January 24, 2010 at 12:12 #271795"Dangerous",where are you? Your thoughts on this tricky little contest please!I am pleased to see Zaarito taking his chance,at least he will keep the form lines together!

I get the feeling that Take The Breeze is another otherwise talented horse that is going to join the ‘Not Going To Run For McCoy’ club, which leaves a shoot-out between Sports Line and Zaarito. Whilst the former impressed on his chasing debut, he very much had the run of the race and may not find himself with such an easy lead this time around. Zaarito seems to be versatile enough, won a moderate-to-fair race very easily last time out and his form with Captain Cee Bee is inescapable.
Zaarito, by four.
