Most of the scribes left at the RP these days weren’t born in 1998 let alone 1988
More smoke and mirrors premier raceday news in todays Racing Post.points out that the prize fund for The Hampton novice Chase is 100,000 from 75,000 but fails to mention The Lemington hurdle has gone.
The following Saturdays Peter Marsh is 100,000 from 75,000,but not a mention of the disappearance of the 75,000 Champion hurdle trial and the Altcar novice Chase.
The right hand clearly doesn’t know what the left hand is doing with the wooden tops at the BHA.
On the one hand their trying to sell these meetings as “premier fixtures” but on the other hand, meetings this month at Cheltenham,Sandown,Warwick and Haydock have been stripped of pattern races, replaced with lower grade handicaps.
Interesting behind Nick & Megan seeing all the people being turned away from the premier enclosure have not paid the extra. “Come racing”
Wouldn’t want to be there on Sunday with that many there.Cheltenham on NYD is bad enough with the invasion of the pram and pushchair brigade
I agree Mike 2 weeks earlier would be much better or perhaps scrap the race and upgrade The Charlie Hall?
Either way something needs to be done as the Betfair has turned in a yearly farce.
£30 for Aintree on Saturday on a invades student day…no thanks!
After another farce today, time to move the race back to Wincanton
There will be thousands of sockless drunks there on Saturday with their cheap tickets,so the organisers will see it as a success but the rest of us know different
Still the same mad double header winter saturdays when 2 meetings go up against each other with nothing decent staged the next day.
Todays Racing Post front page is akin to a local council not bothering to unblock the drains and when the road floods..blame “climate change”
Although ITV having showing racing for almost 7 years,Saturday came across as if it was they’ve never done it before.York race shoved in before The King George, time wasted on interviews instead of showing the horses live in the parade ring.recorded shows of them and missing the parade and then rushing off air with no time to review the race.
Can’t believe they go home thinking they’ve done a good job.
Why did Liverpool change its name to Aintree 30 years ago?
With them charging £55 to get into the Gordon enclosure when you can only access half the parade ring and winners enclosure,I’m not surprised.
Better value to go to the King George at Ascot the previous Saturday for £30.
Not remotely as good as Cheltenham, look at the non existent build up to itJune 13, 2023 at 09:35 in reply to: Evening meetings at Goodwood and Fontwell Park on Friday #1651358
If it was Pete Murray then maybe it would be worth it
No shouting from the rooftops at the Racing Post about the ITV viewing figures for The Derby,so I’m guessing they were down.
