Oli and Sam seem really awkward together. I just find her bloody irritating.
The more I know the less I understand.

April 10, 2026 at 06:49 #1762625There was a preview panel before racing at Aintree yesterday which was shown on the big screen and televisions all around the track. It was composed of two fellows I didn’t know and Leonna Mayor.
When discussing the Aintree Hurdle, the Chairman asked Ms Mayor for her thoughts on the chances of El Fabiolo. She opined “He has had jumping issues, so I cannot fancy him around this track which is such a stern jumping test. If you back him, you will know your fate early after a fence or two”.
Which bit of Aintree Hurdle did she not understand?
I think the two fellows wanted to point out her error but either decided to gallantly save her blushes or perhaps did not want to risk being accused of “mansplaining”.
And to make matters better, Josh Stacey was working as some sort of roving reporter.
April 10, 2026 at 08:16 #1762631How nice to see several of our distinguished newspapers advertising their Grand National sweepstake kits and offers of free bets to their readers.
Of course, if a horse is injured or has to be put down after tomorrow’s race, the same newspapers will be models of calmness and objectivity when they report on the incident.
April 10, 2026 at 13:14 #1762679Ah yes that well know NH expert Leonna.i can still remember when Oli asked her on The Opening Show the Saturday before Cheltenham what was going to win The Gold Cup and she anxiously looked to the floor as if she hadn’t a clue what was running in it
April 10, 2026 at 14:03 #1762695Personally I’d bring back James Sherwood for some cut throat comments ahead of doesn’t everyone look lovely

And right on cue, the “Daily Mail”, so enthusiastic to promote its Grand National sweepstake kit beneath its masthead this morning, leads with this headline now:
“Aintree horse Gold Dancer is put down on Ladies Day after breaking back following a fall – but still being whipped to £67,000 victory by his jockey at the Grand National Festival”.
April 10, 2026 at 18:55 #1762838They’re so two faced.
April 11, 2026 at 10:49 #1762998And the day after a horse sprawls and dies as a result three minutes into the Opening Show we’re reminded about Devon Loch as if it never had happened 🙈🙈🙈
April 11, 2026 at 12:19 #1763045This is one of the worst televised racing days for me. Aside from not being bothered about the National they will only show five races.
The more I know the less I understand.
April 11, 2026 at 13:38 #1763080Couldn’t agree more RTB. I know it’s targeted at casual viewers and I’m fine with that, but it is frustrating for genuine racing fans. The hen party was a new low too.
April 11, 2026 at 13:46 #1763092On the positive amongst the negatives today, Home Schooling was a joy this morning.
April 11, 2026 at 14:32 #1763111I switched on an hour late so I can skip all the drivel and Queks and have nearly caught up!
The more I know the less I understand.
April 11, 2026 at 14:58 #1763121There’s a Grade One race in eight minutes’ time… so let’s show a pointless musical montage of the sights and scenes of Liverpool.
🤬
April 11, 2026 at 15:08 #1763125I’m not sure why they have to keep making such a big deal of it being at Liverpool. Good piece by Fitzy though on Rough Quest and why he had to give up racing.
The more I know the less I understand.
April 11, 2026 at 15:48 #1763136Must be a close call as to whether there is more fake tan at Aintree today or on the Orange Buffoon on the average day.
April 11, 2026 at 15:50 #1763137There isn’t much reviewing of the horses.
The more I know the less I understand.
